Dinner: 5:30-11:00 PM
Food was good but overpriced, tables were stacked on top of each other. Not good for intimate date night.
Birthday dinner. Fantastic (as always).
Always delicious! The best sushi in Atlanta and probably the Southeast! Love the restaurant. The service is wonderful, the chefs are amazing and the food the best sushi around. The servers are all knowledgable and helpful. We just ask them to plan our meal for us. We are never disappointed!
As always, excellent service and exquisite food. Anything you order always exceeds our expectations. Great ambiance and super fun to go with a big or small group. Definitely my favorite place in Atlanta.
Food and service were both excellent! The Spicy Tuna and Yellowtail appetizers are my favorites! Only complaint is that it can get loud during peak times.
Amazing sushi. Seriously, amazing. We were only disappointed with what an awful table we were given which did put a damper on the meal. We booked a month in advance so we were shocked to be put in such a terrible seat. However, the food was worth visiting Buckhead which is not usually our scene and certainly not as fun as the rest of Atlanta.
Eh.... Service was good. The sushi Id give a 4 out of 5. Honestly, for the price, Ive had better. Super trendy Buckhead crowd - just not really my scene.
Excellent food and service. Very loud
We love Umi. The best sushi in ATL. We have eaten many times at MF, and while we love MF, Umi is just that much better. Umi is consistent, authentic, and not heavy handed. Every dish is perfectly executed. We only order off menu and let them feed us, whatever the chef is preparing that night is what we get. The BEST experience every single time. Service is outstanding, and Daniel has waited on us a number of times. He listens to our requests and always graciously accommodates! We highly recommend Umi. You will absolutely not be disappointed!! (But if you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday night, plan in advance! Reservations are hard to get!)
I have been to many good Japanese restaurants including Urasawa and Nobu but I had the worst experience. My reservation was at 6pm and I got there at 6:23. I got late because my lyft driver was having hard time finding the location. I let the restaurant know that I am running late at 6:13. The hostess said grace period is 15 minutes. I asked her please allow me some time and I am out of stater. I was really looking forward to this and I even made a reservation two weeks ago. When I got there the manager gave me a very rude attitude and said they cannot sit us at the sushi bar bc we are 6 minutes over grace period. I even told him we will finish asap so next reservation won't be interrupted. He said no and he sat us at the first table from the bar. All I saw was someone's butt and legs throughout the whole dinner. It was so bad that some guy's butts are touching the edge of our table. Food was generous compare to price and server was great. However this is definitely not a friendly restaurant. Not worth it for your money. I attached the pictures of how close the people's behind and our table.
We were seated 50 minutes after our reservation time. Very frustrating when Umi is so strict about cancellation and patrons not being late for reservation time.
I’m from Houston, My most favorite restaurant in atlanta.... it’s best food, service, people watching, great music..... truly fabulous. When in town I go every night.
Incredible!!! Everything about the service was fantastic, the server was on top of everything. The dessert is a MUST!!!!
I feel the seats are tooooo close together....no privacy. That's my only complaint
This place is not only excellent from a culinary perspective but it’s THE SCENE. We loved the people watching, amazing menu, incredible desserts & their wonderful team. It’s definitely worth it. Autumn was our server. Ask for her:)
UMI is a lovely space filled with music, not brightly lit and oh so hip. Be prepared for an unforgettable time!
Umi is always an amazing experience. The sushi is excellent, I've never had a bad meal there. It is pricey, but the service is always great (it's nice when the recognize you when you walk in and acknowledge that you're a fairly frequent customer). Yellowtail Jalapeno, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Avocado salad w/ wasabi vinaigrette, Chilean Sea Bass and Otoro Caviar are always my favorites.
Outstanding service and food.. Very pricey but worth it
The restaurant was superb. The food tasted amazing especially the sea bass. The service was also somewhat quick. The only complaint I had was that the portions were too small for the entrees. The scallops and lobster were small portions, but the sea bass was just right. I hope you can increases the portions for further customers. Otherwise, this restaurant is superb and I would recommend it to anyone for dinner!
Bottom line = the service isn’t just bad, it’s horrendous and offensive. Had a large group for a business dinner. And the server was mostly focused on getting us through our courses and out the door. At no point was she gracious or courteous. Pretentious crap.
Way too Loud, could not hear my husband across for me, crammed, too dark that we couldn’t even read the menu and took too long to get a drink ordered at our table. Food was ok, over priced food and drinks.
Have dined here on multiple occasions and always had a tremendous experience. The had made a mistake on their end with my reservation and questioned me in front of a customer like I was on trial. Rushed the three of us through dinner which was quite noticeable. Was there for nor more than an hour and a half, spent $ 400 on our meal for dinner for three and it felt like we were at a fast food restaurant .
I called back to voice my displeasure with a manager the following day and he basically articulated that they basically allot windows of time for customers and that the next time I would have to contact them in advance if I wanted to stay longer through our meal. Incredible that would come from the mouth of a manager.
Didn’t even aploogize for the interrogation about the time of my reservation in front of a customer of mine.
This experience completely changed my opinion and perspective on this establishment and I articulated this to the manager and he said he’ll make a note of that on my account. Amazing !
This has now gone from a restaurant I would frequent every time I’m in town and also recommending, to an establishment I will never refer moving forward or frequent in the future.
Unfortunate how poor service and management can be a deal breaker.
Food was great. Our server Paul was fantastic. He was polite, friendly, and had great recommendations. Drinks were just right.
Legit the best food experience in Atlanta! Hands down the BEST sushi I have ever had!! The atmosphere was so wonderful---very dim lighting with a New York vibe to it. Cannot give this place enough credit for how wonderful it is! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our dining experience was exceptional. The food, ambiance and service was incredible! Perfect evening for a birthday celebration.
Food is great but they seat you too close together.
WOW. Everything was absolutely incredible from service to food. This is a place you should only go if you really want to live large. I highly recommend their premium Omakase.
I came here for my boyfriends birthday. It took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine and my boyfriend never got the sake her ordered. It took another 20 minutes for him to get his sushi which wasn't an issue but it took 30-40 minutes for me to get my warm food. The section we sat in was PACKED, It was four tables so close if I would've gotten up my butt would've rubbed against the next table. During the time we were waiting FOREVER for food the server would walk past us and say nothing. No apology, no checking to see how we were doing, no update on the food, he would just walk by and peek over to see we still had no food and served his other tables. I will never come back.
Really enjoyed our evening. Excellent food and service. Highly reccomend.
Good food, great service. Good sushi for Atlanta. Not extravagantly expensive.
Amazing food, ambiance, and service. Umi was absolutely amazing. The vibe was so cool! Aweesome place to enjoy the best sushi the city has to offer!
Everything was fabulous!
Food was overall good. Dover sole was excellent. Sushi was good but Oku, in my opinion is better. Service was sub par. Not sure if the server was inexperienced or just didn’t care. Two of our orders which came out on the same plate was wrong. Server said the chef read the ticket wrong??? I guess mistakes happen but paying premium prices for good but not great food ........ Ambiance was excellent, food good but expected more based on restaurant’s reputation, and service was definitely sub par. I think with a different server the overall experience would have been drastically different.
If you’re from California or New York you’ll probably hate this place. The food is so overpriced and it’s too dark and loud in the restaurant. It’s some of the best sushi I’ve had in Atlanta but that is really not saying much. I’m anxious for the Nobu to open down the street.
Umi is consistently the best restaurant and dining experience in Atlanta. And kudos to the designers, there were no shortcuts taken here.
My wife and I went to UMI for our seventh wedding anniversary and loved it! The cocktails were amazing and everything we ordered was delicious! We're already planning a return visit!
Superb food and service
This was our fourth time to UMI and it's usually excellent. However, on this occasion, it took way to long for our waitress to come by and introduce herself. Our cocktail order took approximately 20 minutes before arriving at our table. Additionally, UMI was out of the first 2 bottles of wine we ordered and it took the wine manager at least 10 minutes on each try before having our waitress return to our table for our third attempt. By the time we received our wine, our dinner was close to over.
Best Sushi in Town!!!! Fresh sashimi from Japan almost everyday....
Exceptional service and food. Value matches the price.
