Umberto's of New Hyde Park - Original
The Chicken Parmigiana was very good! The pasta was very al dente. A little too hard for my liking. We all enjoy yourselves! Would go there again!
Amazing food and great service! Would definitely reccomend!
Our waiter made a suggestion of the night special and I was not disappointed.
Service and food was great
The restaurant was clean and quiet
We were able to hear each other talk
It was a nice night
Umberto’s never disappoints, food is always excellent, very flavorful and good portions. Service is always attentive and helpful and you’re never rushed. I had the eggplant rollatini and my SO had the tortellini bolognese and both of these were delicious. They also bring you a nice size basket of bread and garlic knots. Both the restaurant and pizzeria area which is on the other side of restaurant are fantastic. Their pizza is one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere.
Stick with the pizza downstairs. Restaurant is mediocre at best. Service, though polite, is slow and not especially good. Food was high priced without the quality expected. The pizza is phenomenal
went on easter sunday
service and food was outstanding
was very pleased
Fried Calamari is consistently as good or better than any place in nyc
The reason Service didn't receive a 5 was because, despite having a reservation, we waited for about 45 minutes before we were seated at a table. Other than that the service was outstanding.
Food was very good service was excellent noise was sometimes very uncomfortable. Why do we not get points for making a reservation on open table
Pizza slice was old and sitting around. Not from a pie fresh out of the oven = very disappointed. The remainder of the meal was very good.
Excellent staff and even better food!
We were surprised to be greeted in such a friendly and welcoming manner.
Crowded. Loud. Expensive. Not for me. Bad hard bread.
Outstanding service, great food, it was a awesome dinner. We're going back tonight.
Service was absolutely amazing with a salad wine list. Food was top notch.
Food & service were very good. A very pleasant restaurant. Serving are well sized and not overwhelming.
Management was horrible. We had a 7:30 reservation. And got seated a little after 8:30. They seated parties 3 parties of 4-5 people. That came after us while we were waiting. Appetizers were good. My pasta was a bit tough. Not aldente. Can’t understand how they seat big parties ahead of a party of 10. And squeeze us in a small table when they finally do. Maybe I can’t get over the wait and neglect. Very disappointed in this establishment.
We ordered the hot antipasto platter, a huge disappointment! Eggplant was under cooked, stuffed mushrooms tasted like mush.
The beer was warm.
The waiter took forever to take our order and never checked up on us.
Ordered a shrimp dish was terrible and over priced. My wife ordered the gnocchi dish, sub par.
Don’t know why we ordered desert, but we did. Italian cheesecake, a bust. Cannoli was not fully filled and was runny.
Just an awful experience, don’t understand all the hoopla about this place.
Food was very good . We had a nice time .
We went there to celebrate my husbands 49th birthday. Was the 6 of us. Amazing food, service was outstanding!! Will definitely be back
Excellent service, Carlos, Steve and Miguel are the best. Food outstanding as always
Excellent food, all prepared well. Little noisy on a Friday nite
The best everything was great
We had an excellent meal at Umberto's with great service. The food was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Highly recommended.
We came here for my mom's birthday. She enjoyed her food, so I guess that's all that really matters. However, I did not.
First, my meal came with a salad. The salad was drenched in salad dressing that was so intense in flavor that I couldn't eat the food.
Second, my chicken parm was very oily; I've had chicken parm at other places and it wasn't as oily. My husband got the cheese ravioli and his was drenched in even more oil - to the point where he got sick from it.
Third, the waiter was non existent. Soda refills aren't free, but he didn't even bother to ask if I wanted one. I waited at least 20 minutes and had to flag someone else down to get our waiter.
I will NEVER go back here again.
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Everything was superb !!!!!
Don’t hesitate to eat here.
Amazing food. Seven of us went and each ordered something different and they were each scrumptious!! Will definitely go back!
Our waiteess Anna is our favorite. She always makes it a pleasant experience. I ordered the chicken florentina. Absolutely delicious and large portion
Great food, service and atmosphere We be back often!
Just loved it!! Food was excellent. Seating comfortable wait staff very attentive. Will go back regularly! Enjoyed a wonderful conversation with the owner What a lovely evening!
Umberto's is consistently five stars. We live in Connecticut but love to dine here when we visit Long Island. Joe, the dinning room host, and Anna, our waitress, make you feel comfortable and are very attentive.
Our party had veal, shrimp and pasta dishes. All were well prepared and adequate portions.
We always bring home a couple of Sicilian pizzas because it is the best anywhere. In Connecticut we can get great thin crust pies, but no one comes close to Umberto's for Sicilian pies.
All around a truly pleasant dining experience.
Best italian restaurant on LI! And best pizza, period!
Always a winner! Came especially for the shrimp marinara... very well made. Service was second to none.
Came here with a friend for an early dinner on a Sunday. The ambiance was very nice, and the staff was very cordial. The food was above average Italian food. Good but nothing to really write home about. One complaint was the man, I assume the manager (front of house) who continuously walked around talking on the phone, very loud, very rude (cursing at whomever he was speaking to). There's a time and place for making/taking calls, and at the front of the house is not where it should be. It was incredibly obnoxious and downright uncalled for in a restaurant. Calls like that should be made in an office or outside of the eating area.
Geeat food great sevice would go over and over. Great for business and the whole family
Always excellent - the veal and/or chicken rollatini is outstanding.
Best Italian food on Long Island. Their seafood platter with clams, scungilli, mussels, 1/2 lobster and calamari in sauce was unbelievable. Service was also great,
Meal and service excellent. Quiet table in the corner. Very nice. Waitress was attentive without being annoying as waitresses can sometimes be. Good dinner. Delicious.
Great birthday dinner! Delicious pizza
Coming into Umberto's I had high expectations. However, I was disappointed.
Myself & a group of 5 had a 5:15 reservation. We sat upstairs along with another family as the restaurant was empty. After ordering it took forever to get our food! The restaurant was empty so its makes no sense.
For appetizers we ordered the baked clams & calamari. The bakes clams were good but the calamari was bland, it had no flavor. For my entree I ordered shrimp parmagiana & it was overcooked.
Umberto's is famous for their pizza so we had ordered a Grandma Pie to go. The Grandma Pizza was good, but nothing out of this world.
Overall, Umberto's was good but I am not running back there.
