It was next to the pool which at the time was loud. The food was not great, considering the cost. The wine glass I was given was dirty.
No longer were serving two items that were advertised on their menu. Other food was overage for the price
The service was poor and our waitress was very slow to check up on our meal and clear plates. The food and drinks were way overpriced for what you get ($12 for kids Mac and Cheese, $19 for cocktails). Most of our parties meals were good. All menus are via QR codes on cell phones and physical menus weren’t provided. The ambiance outside near the beach is nice but paper/plastic drink cups and single serve condiment packets make you think you’re at a fast food restaurant.
Wouldn't let me set reservations for later than 4:00. Otherwise good.
Loved the Volcano Ahi Salad. I had it for lunch two days in a row.
Valentine’s Day
Service started a little slow, but improved greatly once I got a server. The Volcano Ahi salad is fantastic!
Serving staff was great & brought out a special treat for my son’s birthday! Great restaurant!
The food quality was poor and flavorless. Food came to table cold and with ketchup packets and sauces in packets. It felt like we were at a fast food restaurant. Highly over priced for a mediocre experience.
Every aspect of my experience at Umalu was enjoyable. I will recommend it to my friends.
Just ok, lovely setting. It could be made a lot better with food quality. Any tropical drink is a $19!!
Made a reservation and they didn’t even acknowledge me or check me in. Service took forever.
Unfortunately the wind was blowing and made for an already poor experience poorer. Food portions were small, services was sub par and the food flavors were ok. Umalu is ok for a quick drink or bite but you may find better value at other restaurants at the Hyatt.
This is a very nice poolside restaurant. The walk to get there is gorgeous as you pass pools and a grotto. Our portions were quite large we ended up with take home. We had a great dinner here.
We had a great dinner at Umalu on Christmas Day. The menus has a good selection and everything was prepared with great care and very tasty. I tried the special steak dish and I was not disappointed! We usually eat there several times during our stay in Maui.
Overall, it was a good dinner. Our potstickers were refrigerator cold but, besides that, the food was good. Service was good also but nothing to write home about.
Very pleasant
What a great serving team! Outstanding staff. The salad free and were fresh. Portions were adequate. My only thing is the Kalua pork flatbread was very greasy and on the acidic side. The salad dressing could have made the Cobb but was just regular. I’ll be back!
Excellent food. Hard to find by the hotel pool.
Great food
Food was good, but the service and attention to detail was off the chart!
The service was impeccable. We felt well protected during Covid. The food was really good. We enjoyed ourselves. Well done Umalu.
The most beautiful hotel on Maui. The food is delicious and service superb. All 3 restaurants are worth trying.
Rewards card did not work
Host was awful and seated us a high top in the bar area surrounded by a family with kids. Asked to move to the patio as there are plenty of tables.
Staff was very friendly. Drinks were great. Food was good but spicy.
We sat outside which was very nice. I started with the eggplant Parmesan appetizer that was so large and delicious, that I was nearly full when the pasta arrived. I got the rigatoni for the main and I was underwhelmed. It definitely needed more flavor. Overall, this restaurant is rather expensive for the quality of food. There are better Italian restaurants on Maui.
Really poor service. Food was good but for how much it cost not worth it. Convenient for hotel guests but I’d rather go many other places than here.
Server was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. Had great gluten free salad. My son really enjoyed his tacos.
Good food, good service, ok price
As of late October 2020, there were 2 areas in which to dine. One, in a covered/outside bar area with several lg. screen TVs. We ate a bit further out, at a separate area with tables well distanced. Service good; food not. Expensive cocktails served in plastic cups. The mango frozen drink I ordered tasted chemically. We ordered a burger that was not in any way seasoned - just a Burger, lettuce, tomato, cheese in a tasteless bun. Fries were good. The (VERY small portion) mani-mahi dish had a chimichurri sauce on it that was good. The mahi-mahi was cooked well, but served on a huge plate of farro and vegetables, that again, was not really seasoned with anything. It was a disconnect of a dish.
RJ was awesome!
Fried green beans are my new favorite food.
Great space! Pool side can also hear the beach waves. Qr code menu was great! Drinks cold food was awesome!
Great fish tacos! A nice alternative when you want a casual meal that's still in an upscale atmosphere.
Nice casual setting at the Hyatt Regency on Kaanapali Beach. The ahi burger was delicious.
The food was amazing, far surpassing our expectations for a pool side bar/restaurant. Our server Leah was outstanding! Personable, attentive, and great with the kids!
Perfect for families with kids, prices are moderate
It was at a beautiful setting in Maui and the food was delicious.
This was a very enjoyable experience . Food, location, music , and service were all excellent.
