The owner is a friendly personable man. The decor is authentic & you can almost imagine that you are in Ancient Greece . The food is plentiful & very tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant & we will definitely return.
This is absolutely my favorite place in Birmingham. It tends to be very quiet during the week, but I understand that it's much more lively.
The food is tremendous, and Panos is a gracious host.
Only issue there was no heating very cold food was gòod and came out fast. Srrvice was great value for money
The staff was very helpful. We were dining around a large party reservation and he made sure our orders were not lost or stuck in a long que.
The restaurant is charming and unique with fun decor. The staff are warm and welcoming, and able to offer any information you may need about the food. The food was outstanding - generous portions, well prepared and reasonably priced mains.
Really nice and friendly hosts. Great entertainment. The food on the whole wasnt to our particular liking only because we prefer a more seasoned selection of food
OUTSTANDING GREEK CUISINE
What a fabulous restaurant, beautiful architecture , Greek Statue's and Unique place to visit.
The food was delicious , we had the Greek Mezze ,the dishes were so tasty and fresh.
Lots of food. The staff are very professional and service first class. I would definitely recommend to our friends. We will defiantly be back very soon.
Thanks again Ulysses
Food and service all right, place was good 10 maybe 15 years ago.
Great find and really enjoyable
Late eating and was no problem
Looking forward to returning
Would I recommend to a friend 🤔.
Good question.
Email response was a bit slow when trying to ask questions about group booking, so booked online anyway.
Got a phone call the day before just to check everything was ok and what the celebration was. It was a double Hen Party. It mentions decorating the table and free bottle of wine for 10+ people.
We arrived, was pointed to our table. Nice big table, nice enough place. They had 2 small balloons on the table that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We sat at our table for atleast 15mins with no one speaking to us or telling us how to order etc.
One person at the bar, delays with drinks etc.
Finally ordered our food from the 3 course party menu. The food was ok tbh, not massive portions, all but one for their food relatively quickly.
The free bottle of wine I had to keep asking for and it finally arrived.
The entertainment started at around 9:30, then we were encouraged to have a dance. 80/90s music then played. It's the people you are with that make the evening because we still manages to have a lot of fun.
I'd warn people about the issues we had, but I wouldn't put them off going.
Overall, has potential to be a fairly good places, especially for big bookings, but the finer detail needs to be looked after, maybe more staffing, better table management/attention to detail.
Lovely restaurant, great food, super service, we will be back.
Really enjoyed my evening here. First time visiting, will definitely be taking family members there.
Had a fab time at Ullysses on a Saturday evening. We were booked in for a 6.30 sitting. We got there and there was a wedding reception in full swing. Very refreshing to see something like this in a place like that. That spoke volumes to us to say that someone thought so highly of the place, that they chose to have their first meal as a married couple there with all their nearest and dearest.
The food was exceptional. Could not fault it! I've had Greek plenty of times, home and abroad. This was up there with the best of them. Value for money was excellent, although we did think the drinks were a little pricey, but for the standard of the food, we didnt mind all that much. We sampled a cocktail each. The same cocktail but 2 very different tastes unfortunately. As for the restaurant itself, the staff were thoughtful, helpful and attentive. Our surroundings were pleasing and comfortable. Quite noisy and a couple of boisterous children, but they belonged to the wedding party. We didnt mind, as it was a one off. The music was fab too.
When we visit Birmingham again, we will absolutely be returning to Ullysses. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend.
Fantastic service. The gentleman serving was very polite and friendly. The food was amazing and came out quick. We had the mezze and wow just wow would highly recommend for everyone
Superb food.. authentic.. great value and really great service / attention
Wish we lived near Birmingham
Nice Greek restaurant with tasty food and great service. Thursday evening it wasn't too crowded. Could have been a bit warmer...
The food was amazing, very reasonable prices and good portions. The waiter / owner was very friendly and helped with some recommendations on the food. We would definitely go back again.
The best authentic Greek restaurant , traditional food and everything is fresh made and delicious
Friendly owner, lovely restaurant, fabulous night - thanks!
Really glad we found The Ulysses in Birmingham. I had booked but found it was not necessary. Disappointed to find the restaurant quite empty but the food was excellent. The staff were attentive but not pushy and we had a marvellous time. More people arrived and the restaurant livened up, but we did not mind the quiet initially. Good value for money in my opinion and the food was excellent.
I did say it was my Birthday when I booked, but I don't think this was taken up. It doesn't matter as me and my family and friends had a lovely evening.
Smiley helpful waiters, fire eating belly dancer and getting involved in Greek dancing was great fun.
Drinks are way too expensive. But food is great and worth it.
thank you
Great welcome. Thoughtful service. Friendly atmosphere. Delightful authentic uncomplicated Greek food. Delicious.
I cant review this restaurant because when we got there, Activity Superstore or top table had not made the reservation for us. We had spent £20 on taxi to get there, just to be told that no booking had been made. I have contacted Activity Superstore and as yet they have not got back to me. I had a email off top table on Friday reminding me of the reservation and another today asking me how it was!! to say I am enoyed is a gross under statement. I have been in touch with Trading Standards and I can have the company for breach of contract. There is no phone number that you can speak to someone to complain it is all automated. Will definatley not be using Activity Superstore ever again. I would advise Ulysses and top table to not associate themselves with this company.
Visiting from New York for work at the NEC and decided to give this place a try. It was the absolute best idea and highlight of our trip.
The owner is not only hilarious and extremely accommodating, but is also a great guy. The food was amazing, as were the portions.
When we walked in it was a quiet and somewhat empty Wednesday night, but do not let that fool you. The atmosphere and design was fun and engrossing. The drinks were good, and the overall feeling was as warm as we could ask for.
Palos, you are a great human being and owner. We wish you the best and will without a doubt be back soon!
Yamas!
This restaurant used to be much better many years ago. No live music and no belly dancer show as advertised on the restaurant's web site. Food quality was average. Very expensive considering no live entertainment. Ambience wasn't good either. Music was controlled via HI fi system which the manager was controlling. No DJ! Overall very disappointing experience.
Wonderful place with very friendly, attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious and so much choice. Worth a visit.
I haven't dined for a while here, but it never fails to delight! The service is friendly, the food is excellent - and very very Greek of course. Most of the dishes are home made which is a very nice touch. Dined really early, and only one other table occupied (2 people). This was a catch up with friends, so it was really nice not to have it noisy and be able to hear each other :o). Food was perfect and very tasty. Dined with a TasteCard so excellent value for money. I'd forgotten how nice this restaurant and food was, so I will be returning and not leaving it so long next time!
Great restaurant ! The service and hospitality was exceptional the waiter pampered to our every need and was very attentive. We had a fabulous night and will defiantly be going back
The best Greek food I have had since I have been in U.K.
Amazing food. Not ready for a 5 pm start. Pretty flat and lacking ambience.
It was a very quiet evening maybe due to St Patricks Day but was pleasant non the less. A really enjoyable night out and food was lovely. I would certainly come again and will bear it in mind for future use.
Food is ok , no excelent . Dirty table. Long time wait for food.
We booked via open table, but our booking reservation didn't get through! However, this didn't faze Panos who, even though the restaurant wasn't actually open, showed us to a table and made us feel welcome. It was a little cold, but the food and friendliness soon warmed us up!
Panos was a wonderful host, with a good balance of attention to us. He was friendly and accommodating. He was able to provide a child sized portion too.
The food was outstanding, extremely tasty and good portion sizes. We visited pre-theatre and would certainly visit again.
The decor was unique, making us feel as though we were actually in Greece.
Thank you Panos.
Every time we travel and stay over in Birmingham, we try and book a table. Luckily we have missed the busy party nights, and had a lovely quiet evening, the food is awesome and the owner is really lovely. A real gem of a place for us.
Service was excellent, staff very friendly and accommodating. Wouldn't recommend for a quiet evening! But am not complaining as the food is great and the atmosphere is lively and fun. Would definitely visit again :) open table booking is great too...no hassle and booked in less than a minute
We were there at opening time and were the only diners so difficult to judge the ambience. However, service was good and food acceptable. Nice grilled meats and good dolmades starter.
Booked restaurant after reading TripAdvisor reviews. We were hoping to finish off a great weekend in Birmingham - wasnt the case. We felt we were in a time warp when we entered the place - a real throw back to the 80's. Had to have set xmas menu. So no olives etc as they were not on menu. Wasn't too impressed with food, waited over an hour for mains. The service was poor, had to go to bar ourselves.
The entertainment was the only thing going for the place .
Went to the restaurant Saturday before a gig so was there quite early, out booking was 6pm. When we arrived the restaurant was fairly quiet but there were people setting up for a larger party. The main downpoints of our experience was the service, it took 15-20 mins for anyone to take our order even with it being so quiet. Also when it came to pay the bill again it took a long time for them to come over with the card machine although it had got a bit busier by then.
The food was good and great value, we had the mezee and would recommend that, all t the starters where nice and only the chicken in the main course was a bit overcooked.
Apparently they were going to have a Greek band and entertainment on but we had to leave before this started.
Over was good and would go back.
I was part of a large group booking at Ulysses. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and the music was fabulous and we had a wonderful sing a long. We enjoyed the belly dancer who had us up on our feet dancing. The whole evening was a great success and we would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an entertaining evening.
We booked a table here after reading many good reviews. However, we arrived at a completely(!!!) empty restaurant (this was on an otherwise busy Friday evening!) and a very rude owner/manager.
We ended up leaving after 5 minutes as it felt like something out of Kitchen Nightmares and we just didn't want to take the risk.
We are still in shock over how uncomfortable an experience this was.
The food could have been very nice, but as mentioned, we simply didn't want to take the risk as we felt there must be a reason why such a big restaurant is completely empty on a Friday evening...
