We went before going to see Hamilton and were celebrating my birthday. The menu was great lots of local choices. Great bottled wine list. The only think that could have been better was dessert took a long to come to the table. However, the manager came over and apologized with a lovely box of truffles, which more than made up for it. Will definitely go back again.
We had an absolutely amazing evening...sat outside...enjoyed the view...great dinner...snapper and oysters! The bacon ice cream was fabulous! We will be back !
Grouper was awesome....
Stuffed shrimp was excellent and well!
Trent, our server was the best!
Great location, really good food, nice portions, solid service!
AMAZING!! Venue, staff, variety of menu selections - this place has it all!
Food was very greasy and over cooked. Very disappointed. Everything else was wonderful!
Food was superb.... drinks excellent.... very busy, even with reservations I had to wait and then was only offered outside seating or there would be an additional wait... all considered, still one of my favorite places
It was nice but very noisy .. Food very good .. good service but our waiter was kinda pushy about wanting us to order wine/beer ..we had to tell him several times that we are not drinkers .. after that all was fine. It is a little expensive .
this place is absolutely amazing! The food, wine, ambiance.. everything. This will be our new spot for sure.
Everything was perfect!!! Atmosphere, food, drinks, staff. Highly recommend!!
We had dinner here before a show at the Straz and it was fabulous. We got right in, waiter was fabulous! He gave us great food recommendations and we uber to the show
Four friends attending Hamilton dined here. We had a hard time selecting since so many entrees looked good. Settled on grouper, seafood Risotto, stuffed shrimp. While we all enjoyed our entrees, the grouper seasoning and risotto were too salty. Our salads were delicious. Wedge, pear/beet, house. Our server was excellent. The noise level is always an issue at Ulele. View lovely. My third visit and two newcomers would definitely return.
Great service, great food. Our server made sure our drinks were full for our entire meal. Food was cooked perfectly.
Aaron, our waiter, was exceptional. He was prompt, cordial and paid attention to details. The ambience was cozy and comfortable. The food was delicious and service was excellent. Definitely money well spent.
This was a very pleasant surprise. We drove about 30 miles and I thought it would not be worth it. But the entire experience was fantastic and I certainly changed my mind. I will take my loved ones snd friends for sure. I highly recommend.
Located right on the waterfront, this is a great place to socialize. Coming from a conference where I was still wearing a sport jacket, you quickly realize the dress code is very casual. Come in jeans or shorts. They have their own beer which they brew. It's very good. Service is excellent. We started with charbroiled oysters and calamari. Excellent choices. The Seafood Risotto was awesome. Plenty of seafood.
We had the oysters (fantastic) and fried okra (amazing) to start -- could have stopped there and left happy! My husband had a filet mignon (to die for) and I had a Ulele salad. It was all great. We sat outside and that helped with the noise. All in all, a perfect dining experience.
We waited almost 45 minutes to get our appetizer while tables they had been sat way after us started getting their entrees. After an hour of waiting and our entrees nowhere in sight, we left. The one server told us that the kitchen often loses tickets and not to take it out in the server. Worst experience ever!!!
The food at Ulele is exceptional. Highly recommend the chargrilled oysters - delicious and amazing! The okra fries and steak chimichurri were done to perfection, and the portion sizes were perfect. Too many times I have ordered menu items that were too large and that is unappetizing. These portion sizes were just right, and encouraged us to order additional items because we weren't too full. The setting on the Hillsborough River is picturesque and beautiful. The only constructive comment I have is that it was very warm, due to the open windows and open air vibe they have. As a Floridian, I'm not big on opening windows when it's 90 degrees. However, the food surpassed the heat and I absolutely enjoyed the experience.
Always great food. Wonderful outdoor seating. Indoor seating can be loud. Beautiful river and springs setting.
Seafood Risotto looked like long grain rice with saffron but other then that everyrhing was excellent
Booked on Opentable for brother-in-law’s birthday. Made sure RJ note the special event, restaurant called to confirm the reservation & the type of event. Service was a bit slow, had to remind the waitress about the pre-ordered dessert for him. Then there was such confusion when taking the order for the remaining guest’s desserts that it was no longer a surprise. The food, drinks & environment were great. Waitress made good recommendations, good knowledge of dishes & ingredients. I’d go again but speak w the wait staff prior to sitting down to mitigate any issues.
Ulele was very busy and the noose level was high. We over heard servers talking about the nightly special availability. When we asked our server he said there were no specials. After we asked him to check he came back and offered the nightly specials. The restaurant was out of various menu items, which is dissapointing after making a reservation ahead of time. There was a very loud festival next to the restaurant making our wait outside very unpleasant. Other than that, everything else was good.
Service was very slow and restaurant wasn’t that busy. Food was good but we waited over 45 minutes for our appetizers. I would try again to see if the experience would be different. Prices are steep.
The reason I rated the ambiance low is only because we were there during a very loud festival.
Delicious food and our server was very nice but it was slooooowwww. We were seated promptly at our reservation time but it took more than 30 minutes to get my drink (a beer); my husband was served his mixed drink much quicker
Overall, a fantastic experience. The service was fantastic (Evan and Amy were both welcoming, knowledgeable, and a joy to be around). The food was outstanding, one of the best meals I’ve had in quite some time. Prices were reasonable for the portions and quality of food that we received. Would recommend highly to anyone in the area.
My daughter and I dined here prior to seeing Hamilton at the Straz Center. This was our second time there and we absolutely loved it! The food and service was outstanding! We love the whole vibe of the area, and will definitely be back.
Wonderful experience. Can’t wait to go again.
Great food and great atmosphere
Ulele must address the noise from the weddings and such in the adjacent field. It ruins the outdoor bar area.
Loved the place but it was quite noisy. We will still go back.
Entree's and appetizers were excellent. The espresso/chocolate ice cream was Fabulous. It was a 2nd choice but perhaps should have been the 1st!
Place was packed on a Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed everything about it and would highly recommend. Make reservations or you’ll be out of luck!
Going to play at Straz
We had a reservation and still had to wait at least 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated it was at least 10 minutes before anybody waited on us. Food was as delicious as always. They have the best espresso martini in town! And the oysters are on point! Unfortunately, they were out of the Maple Bacon Ice Cream and the Key Lime Pie. We tried the Guava pie as an alternative and it tasted like baby food. Such a disappointment because this has been our go to for one of our favorite dining experiences until now.
Had reservations and they were running really behind. We ordered an appetizer and our meal got to use before the appetizer. I mentioned at that point we didn’t need it. My steak was unevenly cooked. Half medium well the other medium. Ordered desert only to find out they had run out of half there items. It’s a shame I have had 2 other good experiences at Ulele, I wonder what happened last night
We sat outside so we could enjoy the view overlooking the water. The indoor ambiance was nice as far as décor & lighting but was a bit noisy. I don't think I would have been able to have a conversation and him hear me if he were across the table from me, that's how loud it was in there. Our server was very helpful to us in telling a little about everything on the menu and that the fish were caught locally and that the meat was organic & grass fed (YES!!). He said the popular dishes were the charbroiled oysters so we got a half a dozen for an appetizer. My husband and I both enjoyed it very much! I ordered the Shrimp Risotto which was so delicious that I think I inhaled it! I don't remember what my husband ordered but he was very happy with his meal too. Overall we had a fabulous 1st time dining experience there and will be returning soon for lunch.
Everything was amazing. From checking in to leaving. The staff was amazing. Manny was my favorite.
Took my husband for his Valentine’s Day dinner
