Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support!
Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole. Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole’s highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Uchiko will feature a new menu with Uchi’s same style of innovative, fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening and an eat-in bar/café area.

What Insiders Are Saying
Uchiko isn't a sequel to Uchi. It's more like a fraternal twin.
Business dinner/casual on Saturday evening was great and impressed our colleague that has never been. Thanks!
Loved Uchi in Dallas and I can confirm Uckiko is as delicious.
My only two grievances was that our waiter spoke softly and in that environment with the level of noise, it was difficult to hear her. The second was how long the four small dishes we ordered before a show took, but the kind waitress more than made up for it by apologizing for the wait and comping the last appetizer.
I will definitely return, but without a pressing time limit or rush to another event.
Expensive, but everything was so spot on delicious and service so attentive, one can definitely overlook the cost for a special occasion.
Great night as usual
My boyfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary. We had a reservation and were promptly seated at a nice booth table when we arrived. Our server was helpful in answering our many questions about the menu and each time a plate was dropped off at our table the person running the food explained exactly what was on the plate for us. We probably had 5 different employees visit our table and each one was exceptionally welcoming and kind.
I loved everything that we ordered but when I come again I will definitely be ordering the Brussels sprouts, yokai berry, and Bok Choy entree from the vegetarian menu. My boyfriend enjoyed the ebi roll even though he is not very adventurous when it comes to sushi.
For dessert we ordered the milk ‘n cereal (if you come here without ordering this you have made a grave mistake) which truly was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Our waitress even brought out a surprise second dessert for our anniversary which she said was new to the menu. It had sorbet and tart fresh raspberries and was an awesome compliment to the savory and sweet first dessert. It was such an awesome way to end a great meal.
Overall we had a great experience at Uchiko!
The food was amazing but they were clearly understaffed bc, after we ordered, we only saw our waitress when we asked someone to fine her for us. Go for the food, not the service!
Uchiko is the best restaurant in Austin! We have never had a disappointing experience there, and we are always excited to go back.
Perhaps the best meal i have ever had ever in the world and i am 56 and well traveled and a foodie. Savannah our server was fantastic and we went with her recommendations and could not have been more delighted. try everything. and i mean everything. the only problem with Uchiko is that the food is so good it spoils every other meal you will have. it's like flying first class Emirates and then going back to a middle seat in coach. Don't walk, run to Uchiko. you will NOT be disappointed.
Wonderful food and terrific, knowledgeable service by Matt. Third time there and food quality consistently great. Menu is unique and interesting, especially the nigiri rolls. Desserts light and perfect finish to the dinner.
What a great place to celebrate Father's Day. My husband enjoyed the menu, drinks, dessert and service. The menu offered a wide variety of foods that satisfied all tastes, even those who weren't there for sushi. Our waiter Jeremy was very attentive and gave great suggestions. The wine selection was appealing and the wine we chose was a great pairing with the food. Thanks for making the night special! We will definitely be back.
PS The milk and cereal was my favorite! wait, the jasmin cream was my favorite! oh no, wait the cilantro granita.....!
We are from Houston and the Uchi there is our favorite. We were visiting Austin for a wedding and decided to try out uchiko. It did not let us down. We sat at the sushi bar and Victor was our guy. He was phenomenal. Food was amazing and the experience and memories we make are like no other. We will be back!! Thanks victor + uchiko!
Our sever, Dave, was amazing! Guided us through the menu for a truly enjoyable night out. Each entree we sampled kept getting better and better! Uchiko has hands down the best fried chicken, it’s a must order.
Excellent unique expertly prepared food that I cannot get anywhere else. My 2 sons and I enjoyed it very much. I have not been in some time and I forgot how good it is. Highly recommend it for a special event.
Fantastic experience. Julia was great in making suggestions and making us feel welcome.
We will certainly return. Thank you!
Incredible culinary experience! We did the Chef's choice and could not have been happier. This place is fantastic, and a little more laid back than Uchi, but the food and service are as good or better. Yum!
Excellent all around
Always an outstanding experience at Uchi or Uchiko. Every bite was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, cannot wait to go back.
Uchiko was exceptional. All four of us had the omakase menu, and every plate that came out was fantastic. We were given two extra plates free of charge, which was a very nice surprise. Service was great, and every dish was executed perfectly. We would all definitely come back for the chef’s tasting menu again in the future!
Because I had mentioned this was my son’s Birthday, the staff went out of their way to make him feel special including adding a chef’s gift of a selected treat. We will be back!
Amazing and delicious!
Wonderful food, service and environment. We went to celebrate our anniversary and a friends engagement. Server was kind and knowledgeable, made great recommendations. Drinks were excellent. Very cool modern and comfortable space. Pricey but well worth it!
Lindsey was a great server
Service was slow at moments, felt a little forgotten about or overlooked. BUT food was fabulous and service experience did get better late in the meal.
Service was slow. There were several wait staff but all came by infrequently. Dishes came out in wrong order and when we inquired the server was very rude. Food was good but extremely pricy for the quantity
By far the best time we’ve had at Uchiko. Lindsay was a phenomenal server, took her time helping us with the menu and recommending great wines.
Julia was a great server and the vegan options were top notch.
Far TOO LOUD and the tables are ridiculously on top of each other. Server was aloof to begin with, but eventually warmed up. It was not a welcoming atmosphere. This was our second visit.
Everything you hear about this place is true! We want to give a shout-out to Jeremy for great service, and really, all who couriered the delish food out. You can tell it is a place in which the employees delight to work.
As a Thank you I took two of my best girlfriends out for dinner this past Sunday (06.09.19 - 5:45 pm). We had not ever been to Uchiko before and simply heard it was worth every penny and must go. So, go we did!
I made reservations (super simple online), got there on time and was seated (right away with a packed house - front staff funny and friendly), and our server (I am a horrible person for not remembering her name!) was so friendly and helpful. If I can remember her name I am requesting her, that is how great she was to us.
We had questions and she knew the answers to all of them. We are convinced she had that entire menu memorized with every ingredient and how it was all prepared. At times other servers would step in to serve us a dish so it was not left sitting in the kitchen - they were also incredibly kind and answered any questions.
We loved it so much we went through at least 7 items between us for dinner, tea, and 3 different desserts. Again, our server was awesome. She described everything correctly. I remember thinking, "I am not surprised in the least as to what I should expect to taste." She never hesitated if we said we like X she would recommend something that actually gave way to those flavors.
The food was incredible. We actually took some home. And it was still amazing on day 2! I cannot wait to go back. This restaurant is now on my Top 3 request. To the chef(s) that designed that menu - WELL DONE! All of the flavors in each dish were perfect for each other. And who knew I would ever look forward to the day when I got to eat more squid ink!?! Seriously though, the whole night was really great and each of us cannot wait to go back.
Thank you and thank you and THANK YOU!
My wife and I were visiting Austin for our Anniversary, and we chose Uchiko for our nice dinner. The restaurant was quite classy and romantic. The menu pricing was fair and worth the splurge. The portions are smaller for tasting and sharing but the taste was amazing. We would definitely come here again!
Recommend the Chef's Tasting menu. It's pricey but never fails to impress.
Hands down my favorite place to have a true dining experience in Austin, and still the greatest restaurant I've visited in my life. I can't wait until next time! Thanks y'all.
Incredible food. Beautiful space. Fantastic and informative service. So impressed with our server’s knowledge of Japanese cuisine traditions, and especially her knowledge of each fish. Highly recommend this place!
Excellent all around . A real pleasure.
Uchiko may be my family's favorite restaurant and they are definitely far more than sushi. They have an absolutely fantastic happy hour. On this last trip our server introduced us to the Gyrturo which is a wagyu beaf short rib done in sushi style that melts in your mouth. I used to always finish any sushi type of meal with a Muguro but I will be finishing it with Gyrturo from now on.
The service and food are always amazing, The prices are always majorly expensive so have to keep this as a special occasion.
We came in for the Sake Social Hour as usual and requested to be seated at the sushi bar, their service is instantaneous. Their knowledge of the fish and the flavors as well as their ability to take care of customers, while making their perfect sushi is always THE BEST! Yes, it’s pricey but I have yet to be disappointed.
Pre-Hamilton dinner. We hadn’t been here in years. This time we only ordered 2 items plus a dessert each. That was plenty.
Having a conversation was nearly impossible. So busy there is no way anything will be done about the noice volume. People will only talk louder and louder. Wine glass and beer were empty for about 7-8 minutes until I was able to flag my waiter down. After that it was ok but I had to wave him down 2 more times for my beer and once for my wife’s wine.
Food was awesome, there are zero complaints there. Milk & Cereal is a must for desert, was amazing!!!!!!
Great place for food but sitting in the main floor on a full night leaves much to be desired. $250 for 2 of us!
