Not a big dessert person so the birthday mackerel was a nice surprise since we were ordering small plates for the table. Server and every other staff member that dropped a plate at the table noted that the item was nut-free. Much appreciated and nice attention to detail. Well done

Every food item was delicious, start to finish with the hama chile, short rib, eggplant tempura, hand roll appetizer, crunchy tuna roll, ebi roll, and shag roll. Coming off of a previous experience in which some items were a bit dinky, this last time knocked it out of the park. Sake social prices on some items are an added bonus! Even the weird-sounding dessert was delicious -- some kind of chocolate and peanut butter concoction with ice cream on the side.

Japanese/sushi/ sashimi based cuisine, but heavily influenced by the vision of the Chef/owner. It’s excellent food for sure. A beautiful restaurant as well, with excellent well trained staff. Will go again.

What was good about the food was quickly erased by the overwhelming, oppressive noise of the restaurant and the robotic service. We could not hear each other across and could not have to have a conversation without shouting. Portions were small and prices were large.

Uchiko never disappoints! When we go, we let the server surprise us with a couple cool and hot servings and it is always amazing. The ambiance is spectacular and the food is to die for.

It is pricey, but the food was sensational. We sat at the sushi bar and just took recommendations. It is one of the best meals I have ever had. Charlie was so nice and just served incredible sushi and sashimi.

Great food and atmosphere; I was a little disappointed because I was asked twice if it was a special occasion and told them it was my fiance's birthday but there was nothing done to honor it. Which normally is fine, but if you ask I assume that means you will acknowledge it.

One of the best overall dining experiences I've enjoyed in years. Great find while visiting Austin. Unique menu with inventive concept. We look forward to Uchi opening in Denver in Spring 2018! If it is as good as Uchiko.... Lucky Denver!

Uchiko is a one shot experience. Overall it is very expensive for single bite servings & I found the flavors to be disappointing. It is definitely not Sushi comfort food & one leaves feeling underfed & somehow dissatisfied. The noise level is a 10 & impossible to hold a conversation without shouting.I would not recommend for an overall pleasant experience.

Amazing food and service. This is a must every time we are in Austin. If you are a foodie I highly suggest. Try as many of the cold tastings and hot tastings as you can, that is what sets the menu so far above the rest.

The food was just as amazing as reputed to be. I've eaten sushi and sashimi in California and Hawaii, but this was the best I've ever had. My only concerns were the noise level, and the tables jammed in so close to each other.

We had the BEST time! We always know we're going to order everything and drop some dollars on this place but we love it so much, it is our favorite splurge and the quality of the food and service make it so worth it. Hands down favorite place in town.

We eat at Uchiko a couple of times a
month and order the same things. We love it because of its great service and constistancy in the food but our last experience was off. We went with another couple, and spend over $600 on four people and it was like we weren't there. We were rarely checked on, each dish had long breaks in between and the food just wasn't as good as it usually is. This is night and day from what we are used to there. The tiger cry was underseasoned, the chicken karaage was bland and the accompaniments were not pickled like they usually are. The best desserts have been recently removed from the menu and the ones they were replaced by are underwhelming. So disappointed in this recent visit.

Fantastic restaurant. Food was amazing. We had a party of 4 and tried ~12 different dishes + sashimi and literally every dish was fantastic, exceeded expectations, and offered something new and exciting and delicious! Would eat here every day if I could! 5 stars!

I took one of my friends here for a nice night out. The food, drinks, and service was fantastic. We didn't have to wait long for anything. My only complaint is that I requested a quiet table with my reservation but it wasn't really quiet and it was so dimly-lit where we were sat, that it was hard to even read the menu.

I hadn't been to Uchico in 5 years (moved from Austin but was back on a visit). Uchico is still exceptional. Service and food were amazing. I was hesitant because my friend is a vegetarian so I didn't know what she could eat. They now have a full vegetarian menu and my friend said it was the best veg food she has eaten out in a restaurant ever. I am a carnivore and would have left quite happy had I only eaten off of the vegetarian menu. This place hasn't missed a beat in 5 yaers. That's hard to do in a crowded restaurant scene like Austin. So glad we went back. Restaurant is loud but it always has been. Very minor complaint but the food is worth it!

Our experience was fantastic! We went with out of town guests to celebrate a birthday and this restaurant did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing, we asked for the chefs experience so each dish that came out was a complete surprise and every single one was amazing! The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable about the food. We loved our experience and would definitely recommend it!
