Uchi Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely fantastic experience! Every dish is prepared absolutely perfectly. We arrived a bit before our reservation and were seated very quickly. You can also grab a glass of wine at the front of the bar while you wait. Our server, Stephanie) was charming and knew the menu inside and out. My girlfriend and I weren’t the most knowledgeable about the different styles of dishes and she made sure to explain everything to us and recommend dishes according to our likes and dislikes. Well worth the price and we will definitely be returning.
Uchi is my favorite restaurant but too expensive for my budget so I go once a year for a special holiday. I would like a little more attention from the waitstaff given the price, the wait and that it is a special place. Ours was not careful about taking our order and didn’t reall check in on the food. I was disappointed.
Had the Chef’s choice. Wasn’t all that impressed this time. In the past, Uchi gave us incredible flavor profiles with ambitious presentation. This service felt like a lot of the same with little wow factor. Still really good and better than most, but for Uchi, a 7 out of 10.
Great place to get fancied up and eat sushi. They change the menu often and there is always something new to try. Great people watching and ambience, great place for a nice date or anniversary celebration. Bring your wallet although if you come at happy hour and eat off that menu you can save a little money.
It’s a really great spot. Our waiter was really sweet and provided great service. The food was awesome and they made a point not to serve me anything with food I’m allergic to. The decor is trendy and it’s a sexy ambiance, but not like a dress code kind of place. Only complaint is of course that’s it’s expensive. Otherwise - awesome.
UCHI has a vibrant setting that still felt very inviting. We loved the waiting area outside with small, intimate seating spaces. The hostesses were very sweet and offered to turn the outdoor heaters on for us while we waited for our reservations. The bar was very full but you could clearly see that everyone was enjoying themselves.
Inside, we enjoyed our waiter very much. He was incredibly knowledable about each dish and really took the time to introduce new dishes to some of us at the table.
We were celebrating our 15 year anniversary and UCHI brought us out a complimentary eggplant dish that was a delight!
Thank you for the experience, we will be back again!
I took my girlfriend to Uchi for her birthday. It was the first time their for both of us. The staff greeted both of us and multiple hosts and servers wished her a happy birthday. From there we had a quick drink before being sat at the bar. The whole experience was fantastic. The bartender was knowledgeable, and our sushi chef was a great mix of personable and educational with what we should order. On top of all this, the food was top notch. The crab with brown butter was a favorite of ours.
We can't wait to go back and highly recommend everyone try it at least once.
The food was very good and the service excellent. This isn't one of those "slop your sushi in soy and wasabi" kinds of places. Everything comes pre-seasoned and was perfect. Only flaw, and it is a pretty big one, was that we had a 45-minute wait DESPITE having a reservation and being right on time for it.
You’re not missing much anymore. It’s been at least seven years since I’ve been to Uchi, so I thought I would give it another shot. What a huge disappointment. Overpriced, overhyped, and starting to look a little shabby. The menu is basically the same and lacks very little ingenuity. A few dishes that I considered simply amazing years ago - have been altered and just don’t taste the same (ie tuna w goat cheese appetizer). There are far better sushi places in Austin to explore and be delighted by. I would recommend the new Eurasia in Oak Hill for a truly amazing sushi experience.
