An adventurous Japanese restaurant we love so much we'd consider buying property nearby.
Amazing food and great service!
Great food and service, the ambiance falls short.
This is our second time at uchi. Last time we did the signature tasting, this time the chef’s tasting. Definitely thought the signature was more bang for your buck, still adventurous, and a better meal all around. Would go back for the signature, sushi or happy hour but not the chef’s tasting.
Always outstanding with in point service. Tried some different items including Brussel sprouts which were very tasty.
This restaurant is far from authentic Japanese food. Service was really slow. I don't know why this place is popular. It was a huge disappointment. Would never recommend to my friend.
Everything was fabulous! Our server Mike was awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.
We really enjoyed our first time dining at Uchi. The happy hour menu was great and had a lot of small bites to try.
Waiter John was great as usual! His recommendations and service are always spot on.
Kitchen had issues with coursing. We waited a long time between courses.
It's very expensive and hard to get a reservation, but worth it!
Always a great culinary experience
Such a great experience-We got a last minute reservation for 5pm which worked out to be our luck. 5-6:30 is sake social with great deals on some of the best items on the menu. Our server Mandy was delightful and she recommended some great plates. We tasted a number of things and all were delicious. Topped it off with the chocolate bar dessert which was out of this world!
The food was delicious! We eat sushi often, and this was the best ever.
Uchi remains my favorite restaurant in Austin. Warm & welcoming upon arrival, great service and obviously the food speaks for itself. Happy Hour is the route to go, but you won't be able to say no to the tons of other delicious items on the regular menu. Sushi Bar is the best with great recommendations and best seat in the house, but you're bound to enjoy yourself wherever you end up at Uchi. Thanks, Y'all!
It was my sons 18th Birthday. I called the day before and asked if they do anything special for bdays & I was told absolutely & I would be taken care of. It never happened. I mentioned to our waiter that it was my sons bday & it was never acknowledged. We were rushed through our dinner & when I ordered dessert, I also ordered coffee. I never received my coffee. It’s unfortunate because I used to take quite a few of my clients at Uchi for business dinners. I’ll no longer be taking my clients there..
Food is amazing! Service was poor. Took 1 hour to get 4 (very small portion) dishes and 2 drinks. We went on a Tuesday at 7pm (not a holiday or festival weekend). Can’t understand why service was so slow. Food was great but not worth the wait. This is definitely a tourist spot.
Awesome big, balanced flavors
A transformative culinary experience. The omakaze & wine/sake pairings were all amazing. Amber stood out for exemplary service too. Give her a raise! When I come to Austin again, this is place I will want to visit again and again.
Moved to Austin last year and after hearing rave reviews, my fiance and I decided to try it out. We were not disappointed, the food and service were absolutely amazing. The restaurant was fairly loud, but that won't deter my 5-star rating. Well worth the money!
Our waiter John went out of his was to make it a special evening. He provided excellent recommendations !
Jodi took fantastic care of my wife and me. This was our first visit to Uchi and the food definitely lived up to our expectations. I opted for the chef's tasting menu and was not disappointed. I loved the yellowtail sashimi "nachos" with asian pear, almonds, and raisins on taro chips. My favorite, however was the citrus yellowtail sashimi with salted chili.
Wasn’t that impressive for as busy as this restaurant is and low availability of tables. The sushi is nothing great and the service could be better about learning what the guests knowledge is of their menu selections. We enjoyed it but will not go out of our way to try it again. The hot rock was the best menu item we enjoyed.
Just found out there's a new chef, so unfortunately my all time favorite thing to order ("old school hotate" scallop with avocado, rice and special sauce) is no longer an option. Also, hasn't been any Tako/octopus in ages there. What gives
We had a remarkable meal that our waiter, Mike, curated for us! Thank you!!!
The food and service were both amazing! Get the Uchi salad for sure!
Lucia song is a lot of fun very interesting with new dishes the only disappointment was the size of the portions and some of the fish dishes because we’ve been several times and have never noticed them to be that small overall though it was a very good experience
An evening at Uchi is always special! Creative, wonderful food, attentive staff and great service. Austin's finest.
We did the ten-course tasting menu and everything was fantastic! Great service! I'm still thinking about the food three days later!
We ordered quite a sampling of items, and enjoyed every single one of them. Uchi did not disappoint! If we’re ever in Austin again, this will be on our list.
Great staff and imaginative and complex food!
Each plate was exquisite!
The food is incredibly creative and flavorful. Our server, Molly, was very knowledgeable and appropriately helpful with suggestions. Particularly noteworthy are the brussel sprouts, Hot Rock and Foie Gras nigiri sushi. Only downside - it is just too darn expensive!
Probably the freshest fish you will ever eat
Food was not good. Service was decent. Definitely not the quality that we were expecting.
The food was amazing, I recommended ordering Omakase if you want the best the restaurant has to offer that day. I also recommend the Tokyo Mule.
Best sushi in austin
Heard about this place from a sushi chef in SF. I was looking for a good sushi restaurant in TX. While not my favorite, mostly because the ambiance was too busy, the waiter recommended we let the chef create our 10 course tasting. We enjoyed all but 1 of the selections. Overall, my husband & I had a wonderful time exploring the sushi that was prepared & would go back again.
We took our kids there and we were hoping they wouldn’t want to eat everything so we can eat most of it...we were wrong. They loved it! They said it’s their favorite restaurant. Heather was our server and we received EXCELLENT service from her. Haven’t had service like that in a very long time. The food is always amazing! Every time we are in Austin we make sure we eat there!
