We had so much fun. We told waitress our likes and dislikes, and she chose for us. All of her choices were great. The whole staff was attentive, and each dish was unique and flavorful.

sadly. overrated. server was inattentive as his focus was on the two single ladies next to our table. sushi not particularly interesting and innovation outweighs flavor and freshness.
the cachet of being 'Uchi' from 3 years ago is wearing thin...

way over priced food. food was meh. don't order the wagyu beef. just a gimmic, and not worth $17 for 5 tiny sashimi cuts. the sushi itself was okay but tiny. overall, sort of a very americanized japanese place. the drinks were also not great. they fill it with tiny ice, instead of a giant ice cube.

It was our anniversary and each staff member that approached our table made a point to say “happy anniversary” to us. It really made our night! The tasting menu was phenomenal and overall ambience was perfect.

I saw the recommendations in Trip Advisor as the best sushi restaurant in town. Has not been the case. The place is not elegant. Food is interesting but not extraordinary. Overvalued.

I love going to Uchi and asking the knowledgeable staff to bring out their recommendations. We also ordered 2 beer pairings and a wine pairing at our table. Both had outstanding and interesting choices that further enhanced the food. We probably had 20 different plates brought to our table, each with one or two pieces per person to share. This is the way to do Uchi--pricey but worth every penny!

Really good! Seated in the back next to a young kid who kept playing the drums with his chopsticks and had his iPad on loud that was distracting, however, food and ambiance were amazing!!

Muy buen Omakase, aunque tuvimos que pedir un par de Nigiris más, fue un menú variado y la calidad de los ingredientes es de primera. Lo recomendamos ampliamente.

Kind of on the decline in Houston. Not as good as it used to be. Spotty now, but still decent overall. Dallas location better. Example: my dessert had a ton of charred puffed rice on it. Should be toasted and just a bit to add crunch. This was burnt and bitter and it consumed like 70% of the volume of each spoon full. It’s the little things…

As usual had a great time at Uchi's- Went there for husbands birthday with our little 4month old and very close friends. Good variety receommended by our server who was friendly. Was funny when he recommended we try the chicken fingers for our little one- till he realized she was only 4 months old!
Would definitely recommend to friends

One of the best restaurants in Houston. I go to Uchi once a week. I never get bored gastronomically, socially, or enologically. The menu is constantly changing. The subtleties of the food are superlative from the choice of fish to the temperature of the rice and the salts and sauces used to finish every delicate piece. The chefs, bartenders and waiters/waitresses are very knowledgeable, passionate and instructive about what they do. The atmosphere is perfect. Uchi is an experience to live.

Stick with the main dishes/entrees and don't go crazy on all the exciting starters. Too much of a good thing, with several starters, make the dining experience too rich in multiple flavors in the end. Ex: Spicy in this place means spicy, as spicy tuna sushi.

One dish we tried was the fried chicken, we sent it back, it was so salty, bbq sauced and deep, deep fried.

Have everyone bring about $120 each and if you drink more than 1 wine make it $150 each...

GO For a very special event, or being invited or a one and done. :)

Food was amazing, a delicious meal. Most servers were helpful however our main server did not meet Uchi standards, which was a surprise. Still recommend Uchi for the high quality, inventive food & atmosphere.

Best creative sushi in town. Really unique and flavorful. Great spot for special occasions and the discounted Happy Hour from 5-6:30pm is THE way to introduce yourself to Uchi. Save your $ for a prime-time special occasion.

Went to Uchi for my boyfriend's birthday and dinner was amazing. Our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful. He recommended which sake we should try since neither of are well versed and all his suggestions were fantastic. We also got a free plate from their daily specials menu since it was his birthday and it was amazing as is all of their food. Totally worth it.

About once a year, we experience a bad evening at Uchi. This past Saturday was that night for 2017. Glasses of wine instead of the bottle we ordered. Pricey daily special arriving instead of the similarly named [and ordered] sake social menu item. LONG delays between items. SO long for the last item, we had them box it to go before it even arrived at the table.

When Uchi is on its game, it's one of Houston's best. When it's off as it was on Saturday, it's very disappointing.

We had such a great meal! We told our server to bring us any dish he wanted under the constraint that two of us were vegetarian. Each dish was better than the previous one! My favorite was an eggplant sushi and hot stone rice dish. This is one of the better meals I've had in Texas. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for creative, flavorful and beautiful dishes.

This was our second and probably last time eating here. The first was for a large birthday party where we received great service. This last time the service was extremely disappointing. Took an hour for our shrimp tempura to come out! The King crab was amazing. I can understand that things happen but when you are sitting at your table with no food for long periods of time when you have ordered several dishes I would expect the waiter to make more of an effort to see what the problem is which he did not. We will stick to our 2 faves: MF and Roka Akor where the food and service never disappoint.

I’ve dined here several times and enjoy it each time. Something has changed though. It’s not as good as it once was. I’m not sure if the chef changed or what. Too much aioli(fancy mayo), pork belly roll fell flat, and not enough raw dishes. We left disappointed.

Fun place to share some good Japanese tapas. Most choices were delicious—liked tohe rice Witherspoon mushrooms and a soft egg, Tuna sushi, cauliflower, fish, endamane, spring roll. Service was so-so, not that helpful on explanations or suggestions. Presentation of food could be spectacular but isn’t.
