Uchi - Dallas
Chef Tyson's menu offerings include daily specials, hot and cool tastings, makimono, yakimono, tempura and, of course, sushi and sashimi.

My wife and I have heard several people tell us it’s one of the best restaurants in the Houston area. So we looked forward to our dinner in Dallas. We had reservations for 8:30 on a Friday night, so we expected the restaurant to be busy.
Upon arrival we were car doors were promptly opened; we were whisked inside, and seated immediately. We had the 6 course tasing menu and asked the waiter to bring us 3 different sakis to eat with our dinner. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about both the food and the saki, explaining each dish and stories behind each saki and how it would compliment the meal.
I would have given 5 stars across the board except for 2 issues. The first is that the restaurant is on the dark side. Many people like this ambiance but with such visually stunning food, I want to see it and appreciate it more.
The largest cardinal sin that I experienced is all too common in American restaurants. Food comes out way to quickly. There were several courses where we had the next course delivered before we completed our current one. This is a shame because the food is truly amazingly fresh and delicious. The chef has mastery over balancing the 5 tastes of Japanese cuisine.
I think our waiter’s name was Matteo..? ANYWAYS he was fantastic. Perfectly personable and attentive.
Winnie our waitress was wonderful and very attentive.
I've been to Uchi Houston and Dallas now a total of 6 or 7 times and their food is amazing and they execute with precise consistency every time. Flavors are awesome, server or chef recommendations are always spot on!
We had a fun and delicious experience at Uchi, celebrating our adult son's birthday. Our waiter, Lin (spelling?) was exceedingly helpful, but not overbearing, and made the evening a real success. All the dishes we tried were a hit, including the yucca frites, shag roll, brussels sprouts, waygu beef hot rock, veggie maki, ham and eggs, spicy crunchy salmon, machi cure, hama chili, and fried milk. This would be a great spot for groups!
Food, as always, was excellent. The service was some of the worst I have had. Among other issues, we had to flag a manager to get our server to take our order. When she showed up to the table, the only words were (in a hurried tone) “what’s up guys?”. Had to flag another server to find the glass of wine we ordered. No managers were interested in making the rounds on the floor. This was not anywhere close to the level that Uchi was know for. Was it an off night or has Uchi become complacent?
Great tasting menu as always! A little disappointed with the desserts this time around, but other than that we have zero complaints.
Always on point
Some of the best Japanese cuisine in the US. Don’t miss this place next time you’re in Dallas. Try to sit at the bar.
Wonderful experience, also enjoyed Uchiba on the upstairs bar.
It was an amazing experience! Food was mind blowing
This is an excellent high-quality, high-service restaurant. The only negative for us is that we used Open Table and got an 8:30pm time, but were not seated until 9:10. This seemed like a long delay, and it was difficult to wait without all members of the party able to access the bar at once. Food is exceptional, and worth the expense - more so if we hadn't been waiting so long to be seated.
Everything about Uchi was amazing. It was my first time at a sushi spot, and our waiter was very helpful with recommendations. I love every bite! And mehn! The drinks were so authentic, and strong. The environment was busy, but chill
Fabulous! Food was amazing as always and service with AD was impeccable! Thank you for a great evening.
We love (server) Stephanie! And the food is always flawless!
We very much enjoyed our meal. We frequently eat at Uchiko in Austin, and I think that Uchi Dallas is as good. However, it is also much easier to get tables in Dallas, which makes it a great choice for us since we often don't have that much notice. We generally go around 5:15 so we can order from their Social menu (happy hour), and while we get a few things off the regular menu, the meal works out as a great deal.
On this occasion, our group of six were able to enjoy a lot of different dishes, with a few that were outstanding enough that we reordered.
Fabulous. Food was amazing. I don’t even like sushi but my group loves. So I went along for the ride. Tried everything and it was fantastic. The beef on hot rock, flounder “carpaccio”, Smokey edamame, I don’t like brussels sprouts and the brussels sprouts were Out of this world. Please don’t skip dessert and make sure you have the Chocolate with the milk balls. I don’t know what it was but I could eat it every day.
There is no equal in Dallas for Uchi. Tyson's creative ways to serve incredibly fresh seafood are consistently great. A good dining value.
Uchi is a great time with friends or a loved one. They have a great sake social hour and honestly the best sushi in the Metroplex. I had a tremendous time!
Food was great, atmosphere great. Joey was our server who was exceptional.
When I called to adjust the number of individuals we had in our party (adding one), the host/hostess was super rude. I understand there is a need to accommodate based on service that can be provided, but this should not have been a major inconvenience— considering a chair could easily be added to the table that we were sat at (vs. dramatically telling us we had to move our 9:15 PM reservation an hour back. I also attempted to call hours prior to make the change and no one was ever available to answer the line. I will not be dining here again or suggesting this as a dinner location when entertaining guests in town (which is why we attended).
Fantastic food and service. Probably some of the best sushi in the area
My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Uchi. The sushi is creative and really fresh.
I also enjoyed a wonderful cocktail before dinner. The bar staff are all very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We really hope to return again soon!
Best in Dallas
Great place. Food was amazing. Calvin was super cool, very professional, and made our experience most enjoyable!
We participated in the “server’s choice menu,” and absolutely loved it! Each course came out quickly, was very diverse, and delicious!
Daughter home from school
Our dining experiences in Dallas have been underwhelming to say the least... That was until we tried Uchi. Exceptional service, fantastic food and great ambiance. The perfect trifecta. I highly recommend Uchi
Quite possibly the best meal and service I have ever had.
All aspects of this restaurant are superior! Different dishes are added so that there are new tastes to experience. Every time we eat there we ask ourselves why we ever eat anywhere else.
Got the chef’s selection & everything was spectacular! Cannot wait to come back next time we’re in town
Absolutely impeccable. Karage, dayboat scallop, sea bream, hama chili, Brussels sprouts, shag roll, and more. All excellent!
Everything was amazing and the staff was very knowledgeable.
We had the 10-course Omikase for table of 5. The food was inventive, delicious and fresh. Service was great until the last two courses when it slowed down, seemed like they made a mistake and served our last savory to another table. Server had to reorder it and made up for it by getting us a special dessert. Place is very buzzy and for us, too loud. We enjoyed it but would go back to Nobu next time instead.
Such lovely interesting food and the service was impeccable!
Uchi acts like their 72-hour short-ribs are gold bouillion instead of beef. The portions are ridiculously small. Their menu at restaurant was nothing close to online menu. The fried milk dessert was good.
Loved our experience. We are vegetarian and the options were great. we tried the tasting menu and were blown away. Did'nt like our desert but overall great service and food. presentation was impeccable.
