Uchi - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Uchi was such a pleasant experience. Each and every single staff member was extremely atentative. They made sure that I was satisfied. Coming from a first timer I had no idea what I was looking for! But my server Linh made it so easy for me. The food is amazing. I will definitely be back.
We had an incredible dinner at Uchi recently. We had the server-driven omakase - resulted in an amazing sampling / pairing of what seemed to be the entire menu. It ended up being about $100/person of food which was reasonable for the amount and quality of the food we had. All in all, it was one of my very favorite dining experiences recently in Dallas. I should also mention that we came with a party of 5 plus an infant (which we would preferably avoid for a restaurant like this but wanted everyone there for an occasion) and they accommodated us very well. We highly recommend this restaurant all around.
The best part was dessert! The fried milk was delicious and beautifully presented. They also gifted us miso panna cotta for our special occasion which was very creamy and also amazing. The social sake menu could use better dishes. The yucca hamachi chips I have had from regular menu before and were my favorite of all the dishes we had. The broccoli was pretty salty and mushroom dish had a weird after taste.
With 6 people and several dietary restrictions, we decided to let Mateo take control and just bring us whatever he recommended. We had at least 8 different items ( excluding desserts) and every single one was delicious. He brought a very diverse selection and everyone was more than pleased. He also made suggestions for wine that were quite good as well. We throughly enjoyed the whole dining experience
My husband and I came to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. Haun, our waiter, was amazing! He did a wonderful job suggesting dishes for us based on what we said and how we liked the dishes we started with! It’s tapas style with shareable small plates, which I loved because I was able to taste all the things. I especially loved the fresh fish that they fly in from Japan daily!!
I am so sad to report the experience was not good - at all. I have dined many times at Uchi, and have always enjoyed the time. The table was not ready for 20 minutes (yes, I had a reservation). During the meal, it was not going well so I asked to speak with a manager. A manager never appeared. There was an overall sense of disorganization and the staff walked in and out of the tables very rudely bumping into tables and chairs. The food service was incredibly slow. I had to flag down someone who was not my server to ask for wasabi and ginger, and to order more sake. The friend I was dining with mentioned she'll never go there again. I was embarrassed since I was the one who chose the place. And, just FYI, the ladies' restroom was severely unkept.
I have eaten sushi all over the country and this is by far my favorite. I would have never imagined finding such a sushi gem in the the middle of Texas. Great atmosphere, and an amazing attention to detail without being stuff and arogant. If I could give Uchi 6 stars I would!
Everything was superb. Had the omakase menu. Would have liked the servers to spend more time explaining each dish—it was very loud and hard to hear. Also, the pacing of the meal was off—served multiple dishes at the same time. Finally, we had a pescatarian with us and the server knew—the omakase menu was supposed to be altered to accommodate this but one of the last dishes served to us was a pork rib, which interestingly was my least favorite dish. Despite this error, I would go back in a heartbeat!
Do trust the Chef's Choice option on the Dinner Menu. The unique variety of sashimi, sushi rolls, fried rice and dessert was amazing! We enjoyed the many small bites of exquisitely prepared fresh seafood blended with bright, fresh ingredients!! Each plate was like a gift delivered to our table. The service was efficient, attentive and warm--without being annoying. No photos to add because we simply enjoyed the experience of our conversation and unique dining. Though tastings are small--we were quite satiated at the conclusion of our meal. Well worth the $$$$ for the overall experience.
Han was very knowledgeable and recommended the best on the menu. (Although I’m sure everything on the menu is excellent). This was our second time visiting Uchi Dallas and the first time for the other two couples in our group. The service and experience was awesome. Thanks again!
It was the BEST jap fusion experience i have thus far. I was served by sushi chef Dale who gave the most amazing tapas recommendation. he was attentive to the pace of serving of tapas as well as the preference or food. the Machi Cure and short rib sushi are to die for!! definitely worth a visit
Wow, what a terrific dining experience celebrating our son’s 18th birthday. I cannot praise Uchi too much. With 2 vegans, 1 vegetarian, and 2 non-restrictive it can sometimes be difficult for a family to dine out. But Uchi embraced our group and Lin made outstanding recommendations that made our entire table happy with each new dish he recommended. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
