Tzin Wine & Tapas Ratings and Reviews
Tzin is one of those small, amazing places you don't want to tell people about in case it gets busier and you find yourself unable to get a table. Despite this, it would be a crime to keep it a secret. The servers are remarkably good at putting you at your ease, outgoing in their address and conversation, and delightfully friendly. The food, tapas and perfect for sharing though you'll be hesitant to let anyone's fork but your own dip into it, is excellently cooked, and one can scarce believe it prepared in the tiny kitchen at the front of the restaurant.
The wine list is not pretentious or insistent upon itself, and considering the venue is priced fairly reasonably. I would hazard that the bottles are a better option than individual glasses, but of course order to your own taste. The servers are well-versed in wine, and easily engaged in conversation about the list and the potential pairings for food. They made an excellent recommendation for us, and allowed us to taste it prior to ordering.
Overall, Tzin quickly endeared itself as a comfortable - if small - venue, with excellent food and spectacular service. It became a personal favourite overnight, and one we will absolutely return to in the future.
Pro-tip: Always order the bacon, and always make sure it's the larger of the two options.
From the moment we arrived we were well taken care of! We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, beautiful food and wonderful service!
Glenn and his lovely wife are personable and attentive to every detail, providing a wonderful dining experience!
Not sure how I had never been before, but I look forward to the next time!
The service was outstanding - informative and charming without being intrusive. The food was excellent. We asked for them to choose our dishes - not easy given all our dietary restrictions. The dishes were interesting and all delicious - something for everyone in each round.
It was a business/fun dinner and the ambiance was perfect with just the right level of noise. All of our group agreed it was the perfect choice.
The best wine bar in town, with proprietors who take pride in their wine and are passionate to share it with you openly and unpretentiously. I just ask for a wine by describing what I want, and I've never been disappointed. If you're a lover of wine, this is a spot for you!
We went to Tzin for a girls night out and we were all super impressed! It’s such a cozy vibrant atmosphere. We were surprised at how small the restaurant was but feel it definitely contributed to our great experience as lots of personal attention was given to every table to make everyone’s experience unique. The owner was very welcoming and helped us choose fantastic wines that weren’t even on the list! We did the “Feed Me” tasting menu and had about 6 difference tapas dishes which were all super flavourful and had stunning presentation. We even had to order one additional plate because it was too good to only have once! The price for the quality and portion size was very reasonable. We highly enjoyed our dining experience and would recommend it to anyone who likes to step out of the norm and experience some authentic savoury tastes, great wine and amazing service!
Greeted warmly, seated promptly. Staff was very knowledgeable, made great suggestions. We chose the last item at the bottom of the menu called “feed me" which is they bring out dishes to share that are on and off the regular menu-kitchen’s choice. Wow-every dish delicious & well presented. Not knowing what was coming was also so much fun!
My husband and I are long-term patrons of this restaurant. We always enjoy the owners and staff, the food, the wine pairings and the attentiveness of the staff to our needs. We usually come here to celebrate a special occasion.
The only think I can think of that could be improved is that sitting at the first table as you walk in can be very cold in winter due to the door opening and closing all the time. Perhaps the owners could provide light weight throws to keep us warm. I would accept one :) !
Otherwise, brilliant...thanks once again for the hospitality.
This was our first visit to Tzin and we will definitely be back. The ambiance is cozy and intimate. Our server was attentive, charming and funny and recommended the “feed us” option for our party of four. We were not disappointed, the steady stream of sharing plates were varied and all delicious. A lovely evening of great food and wine!
One of my favorite places that has not yet disappointed. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming, food was very good and the service was outstanding. It was for my daughters birthday and her first time at Tzin and she was very excited about the experience. I'll definitely be back again.
Tzin delivered as promised by all previous reviewers. It really is tiny with seating for about 20. Kitchen is in the front and you can see it all going on if you have to wait a few minutes for your table. They were running a wee bit late & we were given complementary prosecco while we waited (we had said no thanks but it was delivered anyways!). We did not wait long and were seated as soon as the other guests left. We had heard & read that we could simply have food & wine chosen for us which is how we decided to proceed. Hosts were attentive and explained each dish & wine brought to us. We enjoyed everything! The experience was fantastic and we would all do this again. Just to note, our cost was about $100 per person all in; we knew that going in & were ok with it but it is something to be aware of.
We have been twice and have had great service, food, and wine each time! Both times we chose the chef's tasting option (?) where tapas are brought out until we are done eating and the food has been great each time! I am gluten free and am unable to tolerate lots of dairy (i.e. cheese, heavy cream, yogurt, etc.) and they were super accommodating. One of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton - highly recommend!
Very good experience for small tapas. But- the price was a little over the top
We have a tapas bar of equal par in highlands- and it is not as near as pricey.
Be prepared for a $230 bill for two. Nothing but wine and tapas
Always a treat to visit this restaurant. Great food, attentive and personal service, carefully chosen wine list - and it feels special because of the small space. A great spot for conversation with a good friend or a few - or your sweetie. Would recommend the falafel, patatas bravas and the flourless chocolate cake. Looking forward to my next visit with a meat-a-tarian to sample more.
Literally my favourite restaurant in edmonton. The first place I recommend to anyone from out of town. Always my first choice for a date. ALWAYS get the "feed me option." You can never go wrong. Staff are so accommodating with providing me with tapas that fit my dietary preferences (no pork or beef). I never leave this restaurant with a complaint!
