What Insiders Are Saying
Txikito has been doing solid business in Chelsea for several years, serving Basque-style tapas to people who are mostly on dates. How much you'll like it probably depends on how much you're looking to spend.
Fantastic food, great service. Very comfortable.
an expensive waste of time, we had 6 plates and still came away hungry,
ambience and service were fine but, do not waster your time, find another
tapas place. a definite place to stay away from if you are looking for a nice
Every dish was better than the last. Been living in NYC for 16 years and this is one of the best restaurants we’ve been to. Truly exceptional
Superb food, warm, attentive and knowledgeable service, great wine selection and cocktails...what more could one want?!
Always interesting and well done.
The service was really good, it’s just the food was new for us, and very bitter and dry (as in dry wine, not moisture dry) We may go again, but it won’t be a regular spot. I think if you know and like Basque food, this would be a great spot. It was new for us.
The food here is always fantastic. Only problem: this evening there seemed to be a children's party in the side room. I didn't know that children were into tapas. Too much noise and too much running around by the kiddies ruined an otherwise excellent meal.
Highly recommend it. Very authentic
Truly fabulous meal- interesting flavor combinations that had us all still talking about it the next day.
Everything was delicious. The whole turbot boned at the table was a prize winner. Carlos, our server, was great, and guided us through the menu. We'll definitely recommend it to others.
Memorable meal with four friends, delicious tapas, very friendly service. Limited number of pure vegetarian options, but they were able to modify some of the dishes so that even our vegetarian diner walked away full and happy.
Cute little place, and I like the use of the tray above the tables for drink space! The food here is delicious. I love basque food anyway - but we had nothing that was bad. The red peppers with anchovies really stood out. Delicious! Get some cider and really feel like you're in San Sebastian.
Great food in a very nice and cosy environment. Noise level is low, so you can talk and don't have to scream. Great service and excellent food that is served in a nice way so it is easy to share and it doesn't come all at once. Will go back
It was a great choice for us. We read the Basque book and could explore many of the dishes that are there! Awesome!
I’ve never had a bad meal here. Every dish is so well thought out. It’s really exceptional food. You have to try the sucking pig, potato salad w tuna, marinated white anchovy, white asparagus. Yuuumm and The service is excellent, Rob manages the restaurant. You can’t go wrong here.
As always Txikito delivers for food, service and interesting cuisine.
Amazing food. One of the best tapas bars in NYC.
Our waiter was terrific
The food was inventive and tasty
Excellent choice to meet old friends
Our server was very knowledgeable about all the items on the menu, including the specials & the wine. We ended up ordering every special available plus a couple of extra dishes from the menu and were very pleased with the food & cocktails. Great experience overall.
Best food and service
We love coming here
Dining here is always a wonderful experience -from the warm greeting upon arriving to the wonderful service and delicious food.
We recently spent time in the Basque region of Spain and France and really enjoyed the food and culture. Finding Txikito so close to home was amazing! Best of all, it didn't disappoint. My family of 4 ordered about 14 different dishes and loved them all. Each was outstanding - from simple anchovy and olive skewers to a pork roast special and Napoleon and pear dessert. And SO fresh! Service was terrific - very helpful and attentive - and I loved the vibe, which was warm and relaxed. It's also the only place I know of that serves txakoli and authentic cider. We will most definitely return - especially since it turns out my favorite Christmas present this year - a Basque cook book that I intended to dive into as soon as the holidays were over - was written by the owners and needs a signature!!
Our food was wonderful and enjoyed the overall vibe though our waitperson was not so great, surly even. We made it known at booking and upon arrival we were there for a birthday celebration and barely got a hello let alone acknowledgement of a special night. Good options for both carnivores and vegetarians and glad we tried it though might not seek out again for a special occasion.
Great food and service. But pricey. My only issue was they gave us a small amount of bread once.
One of the best restaurants in NYC. I eat here whenever I can and my friends and family always love it, no matter their palette or the occasion this is a crowd pleaser. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed Txikito from the moment I walked in the door, when the person who greeted me helped to pronounce the name of the restaurant correctly! The cocktails are outstanding, the food is fresh and flavorful, and the service is fantastic. We ended being the last ones out the door. An incredibly satisfying experience, from the food on the plate to the friendly atmosphere.
Txikito is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Delicious pintxos (or most generally thought of as small bites/tapas) and entrees alike. Love that they have Txakolina (Spanish white wine) and am also a fan of the Zurrakapote (kind of like a white sangria but way better). Great for groups and the staff is so friendly. Favorite eats are Boquerón, Txangurro, Mejillones con Pochas, Txilindron and anything on the specials menu... you can't go wrong with anything you order.
It was great!
Al loved the sharing and the diverse food options!
Anyone who has experienced tapas in Spain will find the dishes in this restaurant disappointing. We went here because reviews said it is the best tapas in Manhattan. For the sake of New Yorkers I hope this is not true because the food is average at best. It’s also very expensive. There were 2 of us and we had 9 dishes between us plus a couple of glasses of wine each and it came to $250 plus tip. The service was good and we did have a nice evening but definitely not worth the high price we had to pay for it.
Variety of tapas small plates and medium. Wonderful for sharing. Beautifully flavored
Excellent Basque fare! Try the octopus- delicious
What a great experience tonight at a place I've not been to before. With a ton of restaurant options, this stands out as a place to go over and over and never get tired of. The team was amazing, knew the menu, and very friendly. Food arrived well-spaced, beautifully presented, and the cocktails were expertly made by Jonathan. What a gem of a place…look forward to going back!
Tiny place with amazing food.
We had 6 or 7 dishes, the suckling pig, cod croquettes and artichoke on toast were all outstanding. All the dishes were interesting and well done.
Had this restaurant on my to-go-to list for some time. Finally got to eat here. Their suckling pig and lamb shank (both specials) were really good.
Food is amazing! Drinks left a bit to be desired, though the cocktails are unique and add to the overall immersive experience of Txikito. Loved the small plates and variety of flavors in the dishes. Don’t miss the Pulpo carpaccio!
Definitely one of the best tapas places in the US, it reminds my of the delicious suckling pig dish in Spain!
