The variety of taste options is very attractive. As is the wine list, the pairings and the advice from the staff.
Really good way to experience pintxos and Basque food
Service was not good. No real ambiance.
The small plates were tasty, but the other three sections of the menu were not good.
Suckling pig was very dry.
Salted cod was very bland, way too salty and the texture was off.
I suggest they change their format to be a bar with tapas appetizers and drop the other 3 sections of the menu.
Excellent date night restaurant, vibe is modern Euro.
Fantastic service, great food, not a lot more you could ask for.
Very good food. Fried eggplant appetizer with labneh was small but delicious. Crispy lamb shank was perfectly cooked, tender, moist and delicious, in a very unusual red sauce. The chocolate dessert was a perfect ending. Service was not particularly friendly, but adequate. The room could use some work, but it was ok, except that the tables are quite tightly packed together. Prices most definitely on the high side.
Txikito is a great place for a date, dinner with a friend, or sharing tapas with a small group. Amazing range of Basque items on the menu (don't miss the squid ribbons!), including some of the best boquerones in New York. Excellent cocktail menu, with Basque variations on classic drinks, and a solid wine list. Everyone who served us was delightful, fun and knowledgeable, and our server recommended several dishes we would have missed otherwise.
Don't miss this place!
Very friendly staffs
Delicious - terrific service, outstanding food - meets our expectations every time!
Food was delicious, waitress was excellent in her suggestions, and very pleasant. Overall a lovely experience.
We sat outside on a warm evening but the noise coming from inside was considerable. If you have a larger table of people over 50, this may not be your place. (The décor is based on raw cement which amplifies sound.)
The food was fabulous and fresh and good. We enjoyed everything we got. The wine list has some interesting wines on it, and we got very good advice about lesser known wines we may want to try. Also, I strongly recommend trying one of the vermouth drinks.
Service was very good, and food came out quickly. If you have dietary restrictions, it might be a good idea to check with a senior member of the large crew of people who serve one table.
Since a lot of the dishes are fairly small, you end up paying a fair amount, in a come-from-behind kind of way.
Flavorful Basque cuisine, perfectly portioned for sharing!
Outstanding as always!
The staff is equally as delicious as the food and cocktails! Not to mention the sublime deserts!
Food, price and even the service from the waiter was good. However, I had a 50% discount from Time Out table for 2 that the manager didn't let me use because it was for 2 and we were 3. The thing is we didn't order appetizers, or additional plates, just 3 entries. He could do a lot of things to allows us use the card: separate checks (1 plate in 1 check and the other 2 in a different check), just apply the discount to 2 of the 3 plates we ordered, or even apply the discount to the 3 plates. The check, just food, was not more then $70.00. I just think it is a mistake in city that offers you thousands of options for dinner, not to do everything in your power to make your customer happy... looking for a good review or having him back.
The best in town!
Whenever we have an event to attend in West Chelsea, our dining destination is Txikito. The Basque menu is different and delicious and the largely "tapas" format is perfect for a little taste of many delicious dishes.
The staff is most pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere a very happy one.
Overall a let down. Portions were very small making the prices very high. Had a least 6 items which ranged from tasteless (Shishito peppers) to dry and uninteresting (cuchinillo). Only had two beers to choose from both very light. Wine list was not well thought out. I do have to say the crab toast as well as the ubiquitous croquettes de bacalao were good albeit small.
Great service. Food and drink outstanding! Highly recommend!
The food was all VERY good and they also had a nice wine selection. Our server was friendly and personable, knowledegable about the food and helpful with recommendations. The ambiance was relaxed in a good way but could have been more cozy. The chairs and tables are small and not very comfortable. With a fairy modest redo to the seating this restaurant could be a real gem.
We really enjoyed our evening. We shared several dishes;potatoes, squid ribbons, Pil Pil, and more. True Basque experience. Server was casual, low key but knew the menu, made spot on wine recommendations.
The boquerones were fabulous. We also had the roasted whole turbo that was done to perfection. Also, enjoyed stuffed piqua peppers. Nice wine list.
Amazing! Food is so well put together. The flavors are inspiring and so delicious.
Wonderful food. Each plate had such a unique flavor. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and guided our choice selections.
sublime tastes, unique menu, fantastic service, addictive cocktails. best blood sausage i've ever had, a rare chance to get suckling pig done right, with real crackling skin, informative and friendly visit from a rightfully proud chef to our table, and a staff that had old-school professionalism. Most importantly, for me, sound levels that made conversation pleasant--we bought the cookbook!
Superb menu, modest prices, great service & outstanding cooking!
A bit expensive but really good.... tasty, good service, good experience
Outstanding tapas to share! This is my second time there and will return.
Definitely fit for foodies. One of the better Spanish restaurants in NYC.
Hidden gem in Chelsea! Was the perfect spot for a special dinner with our family. The ambiance, food and service were spot on. Altogether lovely experience, will definitely return.
It was ok, small portions and overpriced. This is a one and done place
Unique and delicious Basque tapas. Fritters, pulpo and foie gras particularly good.
One of the best tapas restaurants in New York City! I have been dining there for at least five years and it is consistently excellent.
Always amazing food here. Wonderful service, too. A real treat.
Wonderful experience dining at Txikito, the service was 5 star and the food was amazing. Would recommend to anyone looking for a local 5 star NYC diner.
Great drinks but food was average. The sausage plate was terrible and the fries were a little basic (but the aioli was nice).
We hadn't been to Txikito for a number of years, for no better reason than that we live across town, and now have a good Basque restaurant in our neighborhood...and we were shocked at how good it is. Dishes--like the calamari ribbons, the white beans with shrimps and mussels, the rice with seafood, the bacalao pil-pil--were exceptional, perfect, as good or better than anything we ate in San Sebastian. Bravo. We'll never let so much time go by again between visits.
Great neighborhood spot! Super nice staff, great service, and really unique and yummy food!! Great drinks too. Can’t wait to come back.
We love Basque so we dine here sometimes.
I understand the size of dish and high price in nyc but rice w shrimp and mushroom was like 4 bites and $24. Way way over priced.
Size of glass of wine is way too small too, they use super small glass.
I probably won’t go back threes again
I took my mom here for her birthday. This was the kind of place I felt like my mom would love, based on the menu. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be returning, but I’ve been to this restaurant maybe 4+ times and each time, the paycheck was steep but almost worth it. This time, I left with a bad taste in my mouth. I got the special with roasted peppers and bone marrow —$19... it consisted of one small slice of baguette topped with a very fatty piece of bone marrow and one anchovy. On the side—roasted red pepper. The dish was very small, very very small. But what’s worse is that there was a hair underneath the toast. I told the waitress and she apologized stiffly, and said they would refire one. at this point, the dish was unappetizing, but we didn’t make a fuss and just hoped it would be comped out later. It wasn’t. We were thoroughly confused and I was thoroughly disappointed at the meal that left us hungry still, with a check of $140 for two people, and we only got one main dish and one of the cheaper drinks each. I’m pretty baffled honestly.
So friendly. Food is first-rate, crowd is fun and diverse, staff incredibly warm & friendly. Owner/Manager very kind and accommodating. We love visiting there.
