We have been to the Two-Fifty Market several times and have always had a great experience. In Portsmouth, there are many restaurants and many are over priced with less than professional servers and the food is lacking. The Two-Fifty is very, very good and it is not as busy as some of the other restaurants in Portsmouth. We wondered why and maybe it is because it is in a hotel and people don't think it would be good. IT IS, but don't tell anybody as we want to keep going and not have to wait. On top of the excellent food and service, you get FREE valet parking. No driving around trying to find a place. This restaurant is tops.
Service was slow even though there were only two tables and food was average pub food. Drinks were also average, some of us got mules and they did not taste like mules at all, was just an odd mixture.

Great restaurant but small in comparison to large hotel
The portobello fries were out of this world good. Our server was super nice. The table next to us with the crying children was less than ideal, but it's a hotel so that's going to to happen. It was pretty quiet otherwise when we were there and we really enjoyed ourselves. I would love to see more small plates / appetizers - we ended up splitting like three and that was perfect.
I made a reservation for 7 people for lunch after my daughter's UNH graduation. The table was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. Not sure if it was coincidence, but there were even blue and white striped UNH colored straws in the water glasses which looked very festive. The food was great as well as the service! The meal was right in the lobby of the hotel which was a bit odd. My daughter has a nut allergy and we asked our waitress to let us know if there was anything that she could not eat. She informed us that everything was labeled (it was not).
We were seated right next to a speaker which made it very difficult to have a conversation.
I ordered a hot tea and received a warm cup of water with no milk, sugar, honey or anything else that one might want to put in their tea.
Great buffet,service. A bit pricey at $39.00 an adult before tax and gratuity.
Overall it was fine. Food was good but it was very busy and somewhat loud. Meal was pricey so Not sure it was the value.
Our lunches were good, no real complaints. What was chosen by the different diners (there were six of us) was all pretty run-of-the-mill, standard offerings. I chose the salad with the rib-eye. I thought the extra charge was pretty pricey because I expected some slices of steak on top of the salad but there was actually a whole steak on the plate, next to the salad, and it was very good. I would definitely order this again.
We have been there a number of times on Sunday afternoons and it is always very quiet, which works well for us. We can easily converse despite a couple of us having some hearing problems.
Our waiter was outstanding. I wish I could remember his name. When he first came to the table I could tell immediately that he was going to be a good waiter, and he was. Not only was he a good waiter in the obvious ways, but he was friendly, helpful, and fun. He was also the bartender, being such a quiet time there. My husband ordered a mixed drink, a margarita I think, and said it was excellent.
No complaints, this will continue to be a destination for us. Portsmouth is a central location for getting together and the Two-Fifty Market has become our restaurant of choice for the reasons above.
Chowder was good. Entrees desserts and drinks were horrible. Steak w Gorgonzola had mustard and other non-typical items on it. Neither my guest nor I finished our meal. Drinks were terrible. Overall one of the worst dining experiences I have had in years. Was really looking forward to it so big disappointment.
Excellent meal. Dessert was okay, but the rest of the meal was pretty exceptional! We ate off the restaurant week menu.
Great food! I have enjoyed everything on their menu. Definitely get the mussels!
Awesome food and atmosphere
I would like to preface this with there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant when we arrived and only one other table when we left. For a Saturday evening at 645 this was more than a little surprising, but now I know why:
Parking was obnoxious. The website says complimentary valet, but their staff didn’t know that. There was no street parking available and the garage parking was a ways away.
Everyone else had their drinks and I waited an extra 10 minutes for mine after theirs. For a basic cocktail on the rocks.. I don’t understand why that would take 15-20 minutes to make. My boyfriend ordered a beer from the menu. The server came back and said they didn’t have that. He chose another and she came back again to say they didn’t have that. Turned out they didn’t have a single beer they had listed on the menu. Uh, what??? My sister-in-law ordered a martini and it was filled so full it was sloshing everywhere as the server set it down. It was messy and not what I would expect from what was supposed to be a decent restaurant.
We ordered an app of nachos. They took chips and melted shredded cheese on top and then placed a gigantic slop of salsa and sour cream on top. The flavor was okay, but not what I expected at all... it was really messy (not in a good way) bar food.
Our entrees took over 45 minutes to come out. The pasta dish was VERY bland. The sirloin was $27 and the quality of the meat was pretty bad. I would expect that type of a steak at Applebee’s or some other low end restaurant. My BBQ salmon was awful. The fish was not fresh. The bbq sauce was barely there and bland. The couscous it was served with was AWFUL.
I told the server we needed to leave for a show and she still took 10 minutes to run our card. We ended up being 25 min late for the show and missed the comedian we drove 2 hours to see. I will never go back to this place... it was just BAD and a $200 bill just added insult to injury.
The food was fresh, seasonal and upscale. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate. We brought our kids and enjoyed a great meal listening to live piano and were seated by the huge window. It was a Friday night and there weren't too many people which wa perfect! To top it off they offered complimentary parking so it was truly lovely. Will definitely go back!
I met an old friend for dinner at Two-Fifty on a Saturday evening. I was surprised at the number of open tables. We had a window seat and while we could hear a lot of chatter from the hotel lobby and bar, it did not impact our conversation.
Our waitress was young and inexperienced and we felt rushed through our meal although there were plenty of open tables. The food was very good and had our server taken pride in her work , it would have been a finer dining experience.
Great meal with great entrees and service. One of Portsmouth's best kept secrets for dining out!

Was unimpressed with the New Year's day "brunch" menu. Was a glorified continental breakfast at best. We we're put in a functyroom, rather than in the rest, even though the restaurant was not full. Unfortunate, but will not be back.
We were a party of 6 with reservations for New Year's Eve. When we got there, we were seated in the middle of the dining room on a table that did not match any of the other tables in the restaurant. I would not have cared about that except that the table is not standard height and therefore the chairs are too low for the table. Even the men were uncomfortable. I asked if we could be moved and they said no, they had other reservations. Then they told us that they get complaints all the time about that table. So my question to management is ... if you know the table is a problem, why don't you either stop using it OR buy chairs that are an appropriate height?
The food was very good and the service was very good. Too bad the whole experience had to be dampened by the table.
So, if you plan to go to Two-Fifty Market, be sure and tell them that you DO NOT want to sit at the table that they really need to replace!
Had a great time on New Year's Eve. Wait staff attentive. Dinner was very good. I had the Moroccan salmon and my husband had the prime rib(a special that night). Lovely table. Had brunch the next morning which was excellent! Would highly recommend.
Ambiance was not what was expected. Billed as "views" but certainly not in the winter. More of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant. That being said, food was good. Award winning clam chowder lived up to its reputation; crab cakes were enjoyable and haddock was extremely good. They do serve cappuccino and while it was not "authentic" it was a good cup of coffee with lots of foam.
Did not expect it to be a hotel restaurant but the food was good. The staff was wonderful. I had parked in their parking lot and the hostess was kind enough to take my ticket and return with a key to provide me with free parking.
It was very good- limited menu but priced well. Server was adequate, not very personable but got the job done . Had to move up reservation which they acted like this was a problem but restaurant had plenty of tables.. not sure what that was about . Atmosphere was ok

Thanksgiving buffet had varied multiple choices. Hot food was hot. Cold selection was just fine. Turkey and prime rib was fabulous. Nice dessert options. Would return next holiday season.
We were seated right away for our reservation. We waited ten minutes , no one came by. There were 3 other tables seated either eating or finishing up their meals. A waitress was busy filling up eight water glasses for an empty table. We got up and walked out.
We didn’t realized his restaurant was in a hotel when we made the reservation. We probably wouldn’t have gone there had we known.
Great food , fun time
Very disappointed with the food it was restaurant week at the restaurant and I had the lobster roll it had more mayonnaise on it than lobster very very disappointing the two meals we ordered on the restaurant week menu both came out cold and the deserts very tasteless would not recommend this restaurant and the cost was very expensive for what they served

Was a lovely restaurant....beautifully decorated and looks right over the water in Portsmouth. Food was amazing and presented very well. Loved all from appetizers to dessert.
Lured here by a Groupon offer we came for a Sunday breakfast. Food was very good - well prepared and reasonably fast. Nice location in he hotel lobby with a large wall of windows towards the river. Service was good. A large open room, handsome decor, but a little noisy. Overall we were very pleased and will be back.

Two Fifty Market was a great place for lunch. Although in hotel setting the place was very nice and inviting. Chowder and shrimp tacos were outstanding. Nice wine list to accompany our meals
