Two E Bar and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Not the best in the end. Made a reservation for high tea while recently in NYC with friends. Had hoped for a little more imagination, but seemed standard on both atmosphere and food. Service was also slow and not very personalized. A lot of options for afternoon tea in NYC during the holidays - not so sure I would pick this one again.
Fabulous tea service before our evening at the ballet. The tea was delightful and the food was perfect. Great girls date and a fun experience. Would highly recommend, if only just once for the experience. I gave a lower rating for value because it is quite pricey but we were happy to pay for the experience.
We arrived on time for our reservation for high tea. High it was not. Our waiter took our order for two full tea orders as we were going to the theater after. We were very disappointed with the quality of food and lack of service. The teas were brought to our table, but never poured for us. We were on our own. The sandwiches were not very tasty, but the worst part was the stale bread. As this was our pre theatre dinner, we did not appreciate the "sweets heavy" menu, although the scones were the highlight. There was no ambiance in this brightly lit bar, and certainly no setting for high tea. Would not recommend.
I️ took my aunt to afternoon tea for her birthday. We have gone to tea many times and thought the Pierre did a wonderful job. The food was excellent. The scones were beyond delicious as were the pastries. We did the unlimited champagne which was unbelievable. If you are looking for a great afternoon tea experience I️ would highly recommend trying the Pierre.
This was the ugliest place I have ever been and a huge disappointment. Someone apparently decided to “modernize” the decor and painted every surface with an ugly muddy, beige, including the marble fireplace, crown moldings, and all of the wall trim. There was no artwork, unless you consider muddy beige swatches of washed silk cut in abstract sections and almost indistinguishable from the color of the wall art. The ceiling lights, too ugly to deserve the word “chandelier,” were beyond hideous and there were no windows at all. Everything was just the ugliest beige imaginable. I appreciate modern decor, but this was simply ugly. There were no flowers on the table or in the restaurant except for two large ... and ugly ... arrangements on the bar. The food was alright, though it inclined too heavily toward sweets and not enough savories. The waiter was polite, but he did not use a butler’s tool to remove crumbs from the table ... he actually used what appeared to be some type of “wet wipe” which was unacceptable. I have had afternoon tea in many places, including various places in
England and Canada, and I serve afternoon tea frequently myself. This was BY FAR the worst experience of them all. There have not been any bad experiences until this one as all the others have been delightful. The table was small and cramped, there were no table linens at all, no flowers - which I’ve already mentioned but continues to appall me ... not even any paper lace doilies under the food. The tea was served far too hot, which means that they used inappropriately hot water on the tea leaves; there are no tea leaves that should be steeped at that high temperature. It was not drinkable for several minutes. And, last bit not least ... the cucumber tea sandwich was served on stale bread. This was a very special occasion for us, and I expected something excellent, but was severely disappointed. The company, however, my husband of forty years, was divine!
I've done Afternoon Tea several times in several different places. While the food, tea and service at The Plaza were excellent, the room was disappointing. It is a simple room but without the beautiful elegance of the Palm Court, for example. Again, the tea, sandwiches, and pastries were beautifully prepared. We had a lovely time.
We arrived early but the staff was very accommodating and seated our party of 5. Food was fresh and appealing to the eye. Wines by the glass were limited compared to the extensive cocktail menu. We didn't have high tea but the food items with tea looked amazing!
Afternoon Tea at the Pierre. I love having tea at the Pierre. I have gone there with my husband and with girlfriends. It's a relaxing and happy place to be. The service was fantastic. As soon as you are seated, the waiter comes to your table and explains everything you need to know. They were welcoming and inviting. There were many varied selections of teas such as the dependable Earl Grey to an updated blended tea with five different favors such as mango, papaya and others that I, at this time don't recall. that doesn't matter, what matters is that the blend was aromatic and very tasty. There were delicious sandwiches, mouth melting scones. The cookies and cakes were also yummy.
We have been to the Pierre Hotel's tea several times in the past. We enjoyed the ambiance and tea so decided to return for a special occasion. It turned out to be a hugh mistake. First, the tables which were originally covered with beautiful linen we're bare wood. Thinking Mc Donald's. Secondly, the savory sandwiches which were quite elegant before were below ordinary. Stale bread and old, cold, items covered them. The sweet items were obviously store purchased most likely -at a mediocre bakery. This was a discount tea service dressed up as a real English tea.
In all, a terrible disappointment that cost $200 with flat champagne.
A waste of money and time. Go somewhere else if you want elegance and a real English tea.
Service was great and the tea was nice. But the space wasn't one I'd seek out again or recommend. It has no natural light and was very brightly lit with "cold" white light. It was physically cold too - we both had to put jackets on. The opposite of cozy, unfortunately.
I came here from San Francisco for a rare opportunity to spend some time with my family members. We had a nice elegant afternoon tea here until a crowd of noisy business people came in as part of their event. They drowned out our conversation completely. The group event shouldn't have been held where other customers were there for quiet elegant get together. This was bad planning by the hotel and ruined our rare and precious family get together. If I knew about this event beforehand, I would have chosen a different venue.
My sister and I went here to have afternoon tea. I normally go to the Mandarin, but they closed down so we tried here instead. The bar is a bit hard to find, but the hotel staff are very courteous and pointed us in the right direction. The room is very nice and elegant, and the food selection is delicious and plentiful. The both of us really enjoyed their tea selection and their scones. Would recommend if you're looking for a quiet space with a nice ambiance to have tea with a friend or two.
My fiancé and I had went two the Pierre this Sunday for the tea for two I found on Groupon. It was exquisite. The waiter bright was so kind and made great recommendations for tea. My favorite was Pierre blend. It taste like chai tea. My fiancé had the tropical blend tea it tasted good too. The types of sandwiches and pastries were delicious. I loved them all. The ambiance was dim and the music was soft. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone. By the way there is plenty of food for two people. We were very full once we got through the the savory foods and took the desserts home with us. I filled up a lot on tea. Overall outstanding experience.
