The Twisted Fork is an ecclectic grill & bar in Omaha’s historic Old Market that serves American food with a cowboy twist. It blends southern hospitality with cowboy bravado and features menu creations from Executive Chef John Ursick.
The menu can be described as comfort food with a ‘twist’ of Chef John’s originality. The Twisted Fork also boasts a top notch signature drink menu and martini list designed by world class mixologist Martin Janica of Argentina and was voted as Omaha’s Best New Restaurant when it opened in 2008.

Twisted Fork - Old Market Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately, we showed up for our reservation this morning and there was a sign on the door stating they were closed due to remodeling. I understand unexpected things happen but there was plenty of time to send an email or phone call to let us know. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant and wish we hadn't driven to the old market to find it closed ☹️
Overall Twisted Fork is a pretty great place to eat. Because of it's location, parking can be difficult on weekends. Some of the seating is pretty crowded. The atmosphere, I would describe as, is "rustic chic" The bathrooms could be cleaner, both times I have been here the bathrooms were a mess and yet the place wasn't that busy. I am a firm believer in, clean bathroom, clean kitchen....
We were seated quickly and served our wine. The restaurant was short staffed and turned away many diners. Our meal was slow but delicious when it arrived. The food didn't suffer for the wait so the chef had persisted in delivering a nice meal. Our server checked often, updated us on the food arrival, and apologized that the kitchen was behind. We didn't mind and have previously enjoyed small plates on the patio served quickly. Worth going but it was too bad they were short workers and turning away business on what could have been a bigger night with eclipse patrons and Creighton ramping up.
I just wanted to "Thank you" to all the staff for a GREAT time we had there. The service was fantastic! The staff was so fun to be with and talk to. They made you feel right at home !
My salmon was to die for .... wonderful dish with mushroom risotto and sweet potatoe pieces. Thank you again for a most enjoyable dinner and evening !
We arrived early and waited for our table to be cleaned off about twent minutes. Ordered a Nebraska staple red beer and a glass of wine. Drinks came but the tomato juice was Bloody Mary mix. Went up to the bar for tomato juice. No tomato juice could not believe no tomato juice. Chicken pot pie was good as was the steak salad. Pretty noisy lots of full tables of girls before Lady GaGa
Concert. The only recommendations from a red beer drinker is to get tomato juice or tell the wait staff only have Bloody Mary mix. Gave the beer to the next table to drink.
I was staying over in Omaha for one evening before flying out in the morning. I decided to try the Twisted Fork based on reviews on line. It was better than expected. The people were super friendly & the food was excellent. After dinner I strolled around the market area looking in the shops & enjoying a beautiful summer night. I was glad I went early because it was 1/2 price bottle of wine night and by the time I was done with dinner the entire restaurant was full.
Twisted Fork provided a great experience. The prior reservation got us a table right away with virtually no wait, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Depending on your budget, it could be viewed as a bit pricey, dinner for two including an appetizer, two dinners and two drinks was just over $50 before a tip. The food was outstanding and the portion sizes were very generous. I would recommend Twisted Fork to anyone visiting Omaha looking for a good place to eat in the Old Market.
This place exceeded our expectations! We loved the food and the drinks. Fair pricing! The waiters were very nice and the food was more than you could eat. Very good presentation for anything you get including drinks. Also, had a very good selection of happy hour prices for food and drinks. My boyfriend and I loved it. We went two times on our weekend trip to Omaha.
"Twisted Fork" has become our "go-to" lunch spot on our annual trek to visit family in Sioux Falls. Direct flight from Houston, drive up from Omaha ... we always arrive at lunch time. Also, do the same on the return! Pretty sure our waitstaff Maddie (sp?) took care of us last year, too ... we look forward to seeing her again. Food is always good, consistent quality and service is friendly & efficient!
This was my first time at Twisted Fork, so I didn't know what to expect. The ambiance is very casual, with a sort of cowboy and western theme going on the walls. The food is hearty, not fancy but varied, reasonably priced, tasted good, and was served in a timely manner. My first "Mexican Donkey" - a Moscow Mule made with tequila :)
Our food was Ok, not spectacular! It was very slow on getting beverages and refills. Had to remind waitress a few times. My daughter had ordered cheese burgers and one was burnt and waited a long time for the replacement to come. By the time it came she was too full to eat it.
First went to Twisted Fork last year during the BRK annual meeting after we found out that our favorite restaurant (M's Pub) had closed. Was extremely impressed by the service and the food. Because of that, on this year's trip to BRK we made reservations and brought two other couples to Twisted Fork and promised them an excellent experience. On a Saturday night at 7:30pm, Twisted Fork 1) only had enough Bombay Sapphire in stock for one martini, 2) were out of the evening's special steak entree, 3) brought the appetizer (soup) after serving the main courses, and 4) we were told they were out of stock on the wine we had ordered when we asked to order a second bottle.
All of this could be excused if they were unaware of the crowds that come for the annual BRK meeting the first week in May - every year. But when they explained the lack of stock in liquor, wine and entree specials, they explained that it was because they had an unexpectedly large crowd at lunch that day...apparently drinking lots of gin, wine and ordering the dinner entree special for lunch.
On the positive side, the food was indeed excellent. I just wouldn't bring friends back, and with the many new, excellent restaurants opening up in the old Market area there are plenty of other places to try while Twisted Fork restocks its food and liquor.
We had a nice time at Twisted Fork on a busy Saturday evening. I would say the best part of the evening was the extremely accommodating service from Scott - he was terrific! The salad with strawberries and Vadalia onion vinaigrette was very good, as was the salmon special (also ordered a steak but didn't love it). The restaurant is more casual than I'd thought but it was lively and packed. We enjoyed it overall and would return, as there were other things on the menu we'd try.
Had an impromptu lunch with my guy and it was delicious. It was his first time so, of course, had to share the smoked gouda mac and cheese. We also had the BLT with chicken noodle soup. All was seasoned perfectly and well-presented. It was quite a bit cold in there today - I noticed I was not the only patron wearing my coat while eating. Like the ambiance very much - and the bar is beautiful. We'll be back for outdoor dining this summer.
