Twisted Fork - Old Market
The menu can be described as comfort food with a ‘twist’ of Chef John’s originality. The Twisted Fork also boasts a top notch signature drink menu and martini list designed by world class mixologist Martin Janica of Argentina and was voted as Omaha’s Best New Restaurant when it opened in 2008.
We had a good overall experience. However when we arrived Twisted Fork had our reservation at 2 people instead of 4. Could have been a real isssue during a busier time of day. The wait caused us too miss Happy Hour prices. Next time I’ll call to confirm rather than rely on open table.
Really enjoyed our experience. The food was great and the staff was wonderful. My cocktail was a little strong to where first drink you just taste alcohol instead of flavors of the liquor. Although, my husband's was perfect. We would definitely go back.
One year anniversary
Twisted Fork was a great place to grab a bite to eat during our first trip to Omaha! We had a reservation for 630pm but arrived early and they were able to get us a table right away. Their customer service was excellent from the hostess to our waitress. I can't remember her name now but she's a brunette. She was great!
The food was comfort food "done up". I ordered the meatloaf and mac which was good but not overly flavorful. My GF ordered the hot roast beef dinner and it was delicious.
We each ordered a cocktail and were pleased with the presentation and pricing.
Definitely a place we'd stop back at again during out next visit to Omaha.
I have been here twice now. The food is excellent, the service was great. The selection at the bar is limited but good quality.
Nice variety so Twisted Fork was a great choice/crowd-pleaser for a business dinner of 8 people
Disappointing...service was mediocre, felt like they were trying to turn the table from the momywe were seated. Food was just fine. Not somewhere I need to visit again
So many great options on the menu makes it hard to decide what to have. All of the food we’ve had there so far has been delicious. The place is small and eclectic but really cool.
7 of us ate here last Saturday...the night the fireworks had been rescheduled. I had made reservations the day before and we got right in. The place was packed so a little noisy but we sat in a table at the back and could still visit well. Our waitress was wonderful. All of our food was delicious. My husband and I had the chicken truffle picot (sp?) which we would order again in a heartbeat. All of us enjoyed our food...even the 2 year old who had the salmon tenders...she ate all three huge tenders and wouldn't share with any of us! Thanks for being so accommodating on this busy, busy night!
The food was great as was the service! The interior of the restaurant was really cool. I went for a lunch date with a friend and it was perfect for catching up with one another! Highly recommend!
Great food. Service was a little slow, but the place was packed on a Friday night, so I can’t dock them for that.
3 of the 4 entrees were good. One was inedible and the waitress apologized, but did not replace or take off the bill. Told her again at end of meal, and she said "I told them". We were planning on having dessert, but none was offered. Been here before and was good, maybe just under- staffed on New Years Eve.
After being greeted by a waiter at the door at 6:57, and we were told we needed a reservation or would have to wait an hour, when they *might* have some space. We duly went online to OpenTable--while still standing at the maitre d'hotel's desk--and booked a seat for 18 minutes later. My husband then turned to a new waiter who came to greet us at 7:01 and said, "We have a reservation, we're a bit early, can you seat us?" She said sure. We were seated right away. The first waiter glared at us all night long. Ambience was fine, but service was painfully slow (we had yet a third waiter who was incredibly nice, but forgot to place the order for our appetizer and brought out our mains at different times--so perhaps they were all in cahoots). The food was really nothing to write home about despite good reviews from others. The gouda mac and cheese was ok, the meatloaf was bland, the chicken special was basically freezer case food warmed up, and the sandwiches were deli fare. I will give a shout out to the roasted zucchini and summer squash (although too oniony for me, the zucchini itself was perfect), and to the pear tart for dessert. That was VERY good and was graciously prepared for us to go by that one lovely waiter. In sum? An all around 2/5: unless you are someone who basically goes out to eat what you could have at home on a non-creative night, give Twisted Fork a pass, especially if you have even the slightest possibility of offending the wait staff by showing up without a reservation or don't want to spend 40 minutes waiting for your food.
We were taking family members to the airport on Christmas Eve day. Didn't want to put them on the plane without lunch so we stopped in at the Twisted Fork in the old market. Did not know prior that they closed at 2pm that day - we got there at 1:15 - but they did an excellent job for us despite the timing.
Great food, atmosphere and staff! It was our first time there and the food was delicious. Bella, our waitress was so kind and attentive!
Chicken fried bacon with dipping gravy ! need I say more
Great atmosphere for holiday team lunch! Good variety of food for lots of different palates
We felt crammed in our seat against the wall.
Brussel Sprouts were very under cooked. Should be slightly browned and tender inside. Wait staff was good. We showed up late for our reservation (but called ahead) and they were kind enough to hold a table. Centrally located in Omaha’s Old Market.
Service was excellent. Sweet potato fries the best we've ever had. However, it seemed a bit pricey in comparison to other places and the bun on the portabello mushroom sandwich was a bit stale and too large for the meal. With the creativity of the menu and overall taste were excellent, I think they could do better on the bread/bun. Wait staff was superb!
Service was a little slow, server was not around a lot when we were looking for another drink or refill on water. Food was really good and everyone was very friendly. The menu is very unique.
Party of 6 the waitress was very patient and back frequently to check on drinks and needs. The restaurant was very busy
Food just okay but not real hot and was served so quickly I thought it all had to be made ahead and warmed( although not thoroughly).
Every entree we ordered was fabulous!
The food was delicious and the portions are generous. I have been here numerous times before, but this time the service was not great. It took a very long time to get our drinks and even after getting some of them we still had to ask for others. Some drinks didn’t come until after our food was served!! The server didn’t seem bothered by it and didn’t apologize for how long it took. We were definitely disappointed as we were there to celebrate a big milestone in our family.
The sandwiches were good. The skillet meal was very tasty. The side salad with Caesar dressing was disgusting. The kids meal was great.
The Twisted Fork never disappoints! It is my favorite restaurant in Omaha and I make a point to visit every time I'm in town. Food is excellent - whether the specials or the main menu there are so many excellent choices! Delicious!
Our food was good. We had the ribeye special. The s'mores sundae was great. I requested that we not be sat at a table for 2 in the corner. They apparently don't read those comments though
Friends were visiting from out of town. Easy to make a reservation, we arrived right on time and were immediately seated. Food was excellent from all four dishes ordered. Service was prompt, kind and helpful. Comfortable atmosphere from tee-shirt to sport-coat. Overall excellent
I had the Monte Crisco sandwich and breakfast potatoes for brunch. The sandwich was flavorful and very filling. Potatoes were cooked well and not greasy. Delicious! Server was very friendly and personable and even gave me a 'to-go' for my soft drink without me having to ask. Definitely would return to this place when visiting Omaha again!
Issues with just about every person who was involved in serving us from the hostess to waitress.
Great food server was the issue. Unlike the waiter next to us we didn’t know of happy hour. Our appetizer wasn’t half off nor was our drinks. Appetizer came 2 minutes before meal after waiting 30 minutes for it.
The service was not quick. We had to call for our waiter to come. Food was good though!!
Excellent value. Good comfort food. Great, attentive service.
The meatloaf and Mac ‘n cheese was great! The Sunday brunch is outstanding. Love the chandeliers.
The food was really good, but the service was definitely lacking. We had two young kids with us and waited a long time to have our orders taken (hungry kids is not a pretty sight). We also had to remind them of a couple of drink orders. The sweet potato fries are great and the burgers are quite yummy. Overall - 4 stars due to the ambiance and food.
Awesome food and funky cool atmosphere! The coffee dusted salmon was excellent.
We had never been to the Twisted Fork before and were pleasantly surprised by the yummy food, great variety of food selection and amount in each serving. They were tastefully arranged and came to the table hot and smelling delicious. A must try is the appetizer, deep fried bacon. We all loved it and the gravy that came with it..
Great menu options, unique offerings. Perfect, friendly service. Food was outstanding!
