Twigs Restaurant and Bar
Twigs supports local farmers and co-ops whenever possible. We source local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each and every dish is prepared to order by our highly trained kitchen staff and served with a warm smile from our attentive waitstaff.
It was Father's Day and they were short staffed. Food was great but slow in coming. Our server was very apologetic. NOT HER FAULT but she seemed overwhelmed.
Excellent meal, excellent service, highly recommend
As other reviewers have said, the service leaves something to be desired. We ordered drinks and appetizers right away. Appetizers made their way out considerably sooner than our drinks. Salad dressings were a bit too tangy. We had the Gorgonzola walnut and goat cheese & champagne Vinaigrette. Our meals were so, so good! We had the venison chops and shrimp & grits!
The server gave us the wrong bill. Now there is a big mess straightening out our bill because the restaurant charged us for the incorrect amount and then charged the correct amount resulting in almost $450 in charges to our cc. Tried to contact the restaurant, left a vm & did not get a return call. Had to call cc company to monitor charge and see if both pending charges post. All we wanted was a nice dinner out and it turned into a mess. We won’t go back and if I were you, just know these things going in:
Service doesn’t meet expectations
Chairs are very uncomfortable
Review your check before leaving
Don’t expect a pleasant greeting when you enter. We were told she would be with us in a few minutes, she had some credit cards she needed to run....what?!
The food is fantastic but watch out for the tangy salad dressings.
As always the food was outstanding. The service was a little slower than normal, but there was a lot going on in Blowing Rock and as you could see riding through town there were many people eating at all the restaurants.
Food was excellent! Comparable to much more expensive restaurant in Blowing Rock. Highly recommend the flash fried oysters as an appetizer. Service was professional and friendly.
First night in Blowing Rock and the family made reservations here. Really good decision.
All entrees were well prepared and very tasty. The Duck appy was great!
Our servers were very attentive and the entire service was fabulous.
Highly recommend this as an option when next in Blowing Rock.
The ambiance is very nice, the food was very good but the service dragged down the rating that I gave. Service and food were quite slow and waiter never came back to ask if everything was ok, also didn’t pour the wine from the bottle that we had ordered so out of necessity we poured our own. The food was served and after meal was finished he came back to bring the check. With more attentive wait staff, this could be a very nice restaurant!
Nice combination of rustic and upscale. Great ambiance and comfortable environment. Dress is not an issue, people were wearing shorts/polo shirts, jeans, capri's, dresses and suits, nobody felt out of place. The food was excellent. Best dining experience we've had in Blowing Rock.
Fantastic meal. Would go again. Highly recommend. Be sure to make a reservation.
We’ve eaten at Twig’s 5 or 6 times and it was always great. This time it was not. The service was OK but fairly slow. We ordered 2 filets, mine was fine but my wife had to send her’s back twice. By the time her’s was cooked the way she ordered it mine was cold. We noticed several other tables that sent their food back and one was because they brought the gentleman something he had not ordered. We are hoping that this was just a bad night which any restaurant can have.
Very friendly vibe, excellent atmosphere. Great food. Fun place -- will come back.
The food is outstanding and the service was superb. One of our favorite restaurants.
It was our anniversary and we had a wonderful meal with very good service. Our waitress and her waiter in training were ver personable and took very good care of us.
Great specials and our waitress was superb
Great food, but too pricy for regular patronage. Entrees are over priced.
Wonderful service and delicious food!!
A beautiful evening celebrating a Birthday!! Our wait person... Chase was phenomenal !!
The halibut special was excellent!
Good food choices, everyone happy!
Excellent food and service!! The atmosphere was very hip and quite fun!!
Energetic and casual bar - perfect for coming off the trail and grabbing a great dinner. Dining is more upscale - the food and service are fine dining. Our server was outstanding! We have never had a bad meal. On this visit my husband and I split the Grilled Roman salad - love it, wish I hadn't split it (it was so good!) We both had the special Grouper and it was perfect. The wine selection compliments the servings. We highly recommend Twigs - it's a place for call.
On a negative - the hostess was rude and underdressed! I am hard of hearing and need to be seated back against a wall. The hostess made a scene in the middle of the restaurant telling me that the empty tables in the corner was not available! We were there for 2 hours and the corner tables was NEVER filled! We were seated in the middle of dining room which made it difficult for me to hear the conversation at our table. Additionally, the hostess was underdressed in a short romper. Every time she leaned over a table we saw her cheeks and then some. NOT a viewing for dining!
Four of us for brunch. I had crab cakes. The others had an omelet, open faced sandwich, Turkey, I think. Don't remember the other one. Everything was, as always, wonderful. Food, service, all good.
Wonderful food. Terrible experience. It was graduation night at Appalachian State and it seemed Twigs filled the entire restaurant 100% Between 8:00 - 8:15pm without regard to kitchen capacity. We arrived 8:00 and place was completely filled in 15-20 minutes. Food was excellent. It took TWO HOURS to get it. Every table was multigenerational for their graduates, many with senior grandparents. A two hour wait was excruciating. Possibly some folks booked earlier and arrived late at 8-8:15 but this wasn’t Twigs first graduation night. We never saw or heard from management. Felt insensitive to say the least. We do recommend the great food, but beware any evening they might be over booked.
We had an excellent dinner here in celebration of graduation. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We all enjoyed the filet mignon, bow tie pasta with shrimp, the evening’s special of pork chops, and their variety of delicious desserts. Everything was out of this world! We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful meal, the food was delicious, it was graduation night so a little noisy but it was probably us! Service was good and we were seated on time as well. Would highly recommend this restaurant
We ate here for convenience to our location when we were in town celebrating our daughter’s graduation. The food was excellent, service was great, atmosphere was lovely. It is higher than average but was delicious and the quality was definitely worth the splurge.
Food was expensive and not very flavorful. Overall the restaurant atmosphere was lovely however we were seated in the front section with two cars parked right in front of the window next to which we were seated. . Not what you would expect for this price range.
Excellent food and service. Definitely will dine again!
Our server Ryan was outstanding! A wonderful dinner! We will return!
We had a fantastic time. We were meeting to visit, so the ambience was important. Everybody really enjoyed their food. Our server (Audrey I think) dud an excellent job of interacting and making sure all our needs were met.
One of our favorite restaurants in the Boone /Blowing Rock area!
Consistently good food and service! Restaurant has always been able to honor our table requests!
We will continue to dine here again and again!
My wife, Elizabeth and I took my daughter and son in law to Twigs to celebrate my son in law graduating from college. Our waiter was wonderful. I can’t remember his name but he had a beard. He suggested items to try and he was correct each time. He was very familiar with all items on the menu and the daily specials. Each course was served perfectly timed to replace what was finished. We have eaten at Twigs before but I must say this time was the best ever. We are expecting guests from out of town in a few weeks and will make a point to suggest treating them to dinner at Twigs. Thank you for making our dinner a pleasurable experience. David L Abernethy MD
Excellent service and great food. I would highly recommend trying Twigs if you are ever in the Blowing Rock area.
Twigs was great- we went for a dinner while on our honeymoon. The cocktails were great and we tried the Peach BBQ Duck Tenders which were really good. For dinner we had the pecan crusted trout and the filet with Gorgonzola butter which was awesome. I would highly recommend it for a nice dinner while in Blowing Rock.
Our waitress, I can't remember her name (she let everyone know she was from columbia, sc) was rude. It took her 10 minutes to get us 2 waters, we had to ask her the specials after she blurted out, and I quote "what do you want." She told us the specials, and ask we were ordering our food I asked for no onions on my salad or steak because I am allergic ( not deathly, but I get hives). Our salad came out and there was onions all over the salad, we asked her to take it back, so I didn't even get to eat my salad because I was scared she might just pick them off and bring the salad back. She finally brought us our bread as our steaks were coming out, which the steaks were AMAZING. We never saw her again until we had to ask someone else for drinks TWICE. She finally came back and filled our glasses, and then she asked if we were ready for our check and I asked her for the dessert menu because my husband and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary. She rambled them off so fast I couldn't understand her so we declined. It took her another good 15 minutes to go run our card. So I was very disappointed in the service we got. It was suppose to be a very special night for us but it didn't go that way.
Food and setting were great. Service was not so good. Server (Savannah) seemed to be in a hurry and was always rushed to get away from the table. She'd ask if we needed anything, but would be gone before we could answer. Disappointed because we felt like we were rushed from the moment we sat down. Will definitely go back, but hopefully won't be in her section.
Excellent service and excellent food. Can’t ask for much more.
We had an amazing night. Our server Ryan was outstanding, great personality and attended to our needs with poise and humor. All the food we ordered was excellent and the presentation was stunning. This place is a keeper. We will definitely go again.
My wife and I dined here after a personal recommendation and perusing the menu online and reading reviews online. The menu is exquisite and the food was as good as billed. Our server came to us flustered and harried, telling us that there problems in the kitchen and blustering through what we could order. Fortunately, given the breadth of the menu and the skill of the chef, we had plenty of quality menu choices available and the food was superb. Our service was almost nonexistent. Another server refilled our water and responded to our request for another glass of wine. We were abandoned. Our server never explained nor apologized for her own lack of attention. Nor did anyone else intervene. We were told by the hostess that the manager was not there tonight. That’s too bad. The restaurant was not busy...? And our reservation was for seven pm. If I were the manager, I would be appalled by our experience. Everyone but our server coped well with conditions. It is sad that we have to report this experience but it was not pleasant given the amount of the bill. And, it is potentially one of the two best restaurants in Blowing Rock. If I was the manager, I would want to know.
Absolute perfection! Great atmosphere! Great meal! Great server (Savannah)! A grand birthday celebration!
