Twigs Restaurant and Bar
Twigs supports local farmers and co-ops whenever possible. We source local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each and every dish is prepared to order by our highly trained kitchen staff and served with a warm smile from our attentive waitstaff.
The food was good but I probably would not go back. No particular reason other than it was expensive and I wasn't like "wow".
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner here. Very nice food, great service and enjoyed the atmosphere. Thank you for a great evening.
We love Twigs. Everyone is always so accommodating. We were celebrating our son-in-law's birthday. Our waiter was great and gave us great suggestions.
This was our first time trying Twigs. Our overall impression is Twigs has a confused identity. The lighting, table linens, etc. suggest upscale, but the music and decor suggests a less elegant dining experience.
Not up to Twigs standards. Food was mediocre. Bar Service was incredibly slow! Had finished meal by the time our second glass of wine arrived.
We are regular customers and were disappointed.
Good food with gracious service. White tablecloths and attractive decor but not fussy. Had fun Halloween decorations this week.
Food was very good, portions were very nice , good service , was a little loud
My wife & I have had drinks at Twigs several times but this weekend was our first dinner experience. Very nice evening. It's a great setting -- nice bar (often with excellent local music) that gets crowded & noisy on weekends, but a much quieter dining room. Service was a bit slow on our evening but this was during one of Blowing Rock's busiest tourist weekends so I'll certainly cut the staff some slack on that. We started with the crab cake and the fried green tomato apps (both delicious) then a mahi special for my wife and venison chops for me (again, both excellent). Twigs has operated for decades and there's a reason why -- great spot.
For what they charge the quality should be better, including service.
Not enough waiters. Had little time to check on their tables.
We booked with Twigs upon recommendation from friends. We had been married the night before this dinner and had driven to Blowing Rock to begin our Honeymoon. I noted this in the booking. Upon arrival, we were greeted by someone standing at the hostess desk who checked our reservation and said she would let the hostess know. We took a seat in the waiting area. I went to get a glass of wine and mixed drink while we were waiting. As a side note, it was the worst Old Fashioned I'd ever had. We sat for a while despite activity around us. Finally another employee asked if we were waiting for a table. I again stated we had a reservation. She checked and said that no one had told her that we were there. We were then seated. I mentioned that it was our honeymoon. She said, yes, she knew, it was in the record. Not even a congratulations. Never-the-less, the waitress was exceptional and the food was delicious. I would go back, but it probably would not be my first choice on the list.
Great place. Great food. Make sure you try the Dixie Martini
First time dining at Twigs. Not a good experience from hostess not seating us on time and being very unprofessional to food that was not acceptable and had to be sent back. Can’t recommend given so many better choices in Blowing Rock. Hopefully just on off night.
It was great except we were seated not in main dining room near the bar and the noise was way too loud. A door is needed to separate the bar.
Great food and service!
Very very loud though. Know it was a game weekend but lots of drunk people that don’t go out much! Really inconsiderate of others. Had to ask staff to please cool off the temp. Very hot in the restaurant and so many people fanning themselves. Our guest got up and ask to turn heat off and she said it was off. Ok, how about opening a window, turning on air, etc... just do something! Finally they opened a window and we could breathe. Just an uncomfortable experience. Good, drink and our waiter were great though.
Food was satisfactory
Biggest downfall for us was that we were seated in the fireplace room but they refused to turn on the fire. So, we were a bit cold the whole dinner.
Best anniversary dinner we’ve had. Great venue, great food, great service.
Our Waiter was very personable and attentive. The food was some of the best I have had inthe Blowing Rock area. The atmosphere was very nice and not too noisy. This has become my new favorite place!! The salmon was fantastic, the shrimp cocktail and oysters...wow! The Venison chops...Who knew??? Wow!!!!!
Good was good, service was slow. The waiter was overwhelmed. Rainbow trout is very good.
Would be 5 stars overall but we arrived 10 minutes early for 715 reservation and were told table not available and we were directed to the bar where we were called at 725. All the while observing the table where we were seated being set up and available during the wait.
Loved the decor and menu. Caesar salad top notch. Definitely recommend!
My wife and enjoyed our visit to Twigs celebrating her birthday. Elizabeth was our server and she did an excellent job taking care of us. We had the buffalo medallions and the crab cakes. Both meals were delicious. We look forward to returning.
Great food. We eat there each time we visit Blowing Rock, about twice a year. Never disappointed!
Was seated promptly, but after 15 of nobody stopping by I had to go to the front and ask for a waiter. 10 min layer a very nice lady came by to help, but her station was literally opposite of where we were sitting. She did a good job (McKenzie) as the screw up was not her fault. Mgt never came by to apologize. Hosted did not come back
Food was ok- oh and what we want they had just run out of- had we been able to order promptly we could have gotten what we wanted
It was a busy night, but we had multiple issues. Constantly waiting on drink service. Bar drinks were horrible. Dinner took an hour and a half, and the food came out like warm. For the price, the food and service did not meet expectations.
The food was really good. They went a little overboard with their Halloween decorations. They could have toned that down a bit. Otherwise my wife and I really enjoyed our visit.
They had the ENTIRE place decorated for Halloween. Didn’t expect that for a fancy restaurant and it kind of killed the mood with skeleton skulls on the table. Maybe tone it down next time?
Went for our second time, first time being 10+ years ago. Had a nice meal for my husband's birthday. Enjoyed the peach bbq duck with goat cheese appetizer and curry soup. My husband had the filet and I had the pecan trout, both of which were very good.
Didn't care much for the excessive Halloween décor (spider webs everywhere) and tacky plastic things hanging from every fixture. Had remembered it as more of a nicer restaurant. Also was a little more closed in than I recalled and smelled like an old cabin now.
Overall, the food and service was good, so we will likely be back again.
Wonderful evening with friends. Delicious food and great service. We will be back!
Recommended by friends for a nice dinner out with my wife. Wait in the bar did not feel inviting. However a kind gentleman did come serve us after we gave up waiting on the bartenders. After being seated, our waitress experience was subpar. The food was delicious. Next time, maybe we will have better luck!
We had been to Twigs before and our last visit wasn't so good so we decided not to go back when we visited Blowing Rock. Well it had been several years and I had read a lot of good reviews about Twigs so we decided to give it another try. The first thing we encounter is a crying baby. We asked not to be seated next to the baby. I don't understand why people with babies want to take them to high end restaurants. There is an Outback right up the street. When you are paying over $70 for a dinner for two, you don't want to hear a crying baby. Okay, after the baby, my husband and I order two different soups, the broccoli cheddar the tomato bisque. Neither one was very good. It was downhill from there. All I can say is it will be a very long time for us to try it again.
We had the pecan encrusted trout. We're big trout lovers and eat it whenever a restaurant offers it. Both my wife and I said that this was the BEST we've ever eaten. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
Excellent service from beginning to end. Great food and experience overall
Always love our time at Twigs! Food is amazing and the ambiance is lovely!
Waitress was slow and non attentive. Had to get own silverware, water. Walked away from us on at least 2 occasions when trying to ask for silverware. Meat was cooked less than rare when asked for medium rare. Waitress was no where to be found when trying to send it back for additional cooking and no where to be found when we were done with our meal. We will not be returning.
A terrific experience for all six of us. Dinner was prepared awesomely.
Food was fantastic and service was great. Only downside was the amount of food for what you pay. If you don’t get an appetizer(which are small BTY), then you will leave hungry. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and it came with only 3 slices?? I know a tomato does not cost that much and it isn’t that much more effort to cook the rest of the tomato and for $9? Come on now. But what do you expect going to a restaurant like this. Would we go again? Yes. Only because the food was that good.
Lovely intimate restaurant. Very quiet until a loud party of 6 were seated beside us! Waitress was friendly and helpful. Service was rather slow. Our only complaint. Salmon and Shrimp & Grits were both excellent!
New server, forgot to order appetizers, and wasn’t given any backup.
Food was good to pretty good, but felt as if we were eating at a Hometown Buffet cafeteria. How’s that for ambiance.
Then, when we got the bill, finally, they DID remember the appetizer in addition to coffee we didn’t have.
That took another 20 minutes, until we finally went to the front and checked ourselves out!
