Twigs Restaurant and Bar
Twigs supports local farmers and co-ops whenever possible. We source local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each and every dish is prepared to order by our highly trained kitchen staff and served with a warm smile from our attentive waitstaff.
Best anniversary dinner we’ve had. Great venue, great food, great service.
Good was good, service was slow. The waiter was overwhelmed. Rainbow trout is very good.
Would be 5 stars overall but we arrived 10 minutes early for 715 reservation and were told table not available and we were directed to the bar where we were called at 725. All the while observing the table where we were seated being set up and available during the wait.
Loved the decor and menu. Caesar salad top notch. Definitely recommend!
My wife and enjoyed our visit to Twigs celebrating her birthday. Elizabeth was our server and she did an excellent job taking care of us. We had the buffalo medallions and the crab cakes. Both meals were delicious. We look forward to returning.
Great food. We eat there each time we visit Blowing Rock, about twice a year. Never disappointed!
Was seated promptly, but after 15 of nobody stopping by I had to go to the front and ask for a waiter. 10 min layer a very nice lady came by to help, but her station was literally opposite of where we were sitting. She did a good job (McKenzie) as the screw up was not her fault. Mgt never came by to apologize. Hosted did not come back
Food was ok- oh and what we want they had just run out of- had we been able to order promptly we could have gotten what we wanted
It was a busy night, but we had multiple issues. Constantly waiting on drink service. Bar drinks were horrible. Dinner took an hour and a half, and the food came out like warm. For the price, the food and service did not meet expectations.
The food was really good. They went a little overboard with their Halloween decorations. They could have toned that down a bit. Otherwise my wife and I really enjoyed our visit.
They had the ENTIRE place decorated for Halloween. Didn’t expect that for a fancy restaurant and it kind of killed the mood with skeleton skulls on the table. Maybe tone it down next time?
Went for our second time, first time being 10+ years ago. Had a nice meal for my husband's birthday. Enjoyed the peach bbq duck with goat cheese appetizer and curry soup. My husband had the filet and I had the pecan trout, both of which were very good.
Didn't care much for the excessive Halloween décor (spider webs everywhere) and tacky plastic things hanging from every fixture. Had remembered it as more of a nicer restaurant. Also was a little more closed in than I recalled and smelled like an old cabin now.
Overall, the food and service was good, so we will likely be back again.
Wonderful evening with friends. Delicious food and great service. We will be back!
Recommended by friends for a nice dinner out with my wife. Wait in the bar did not feel inviting. However a kind gentleman did come serve us after we gave up waiting on the bartenders. After being seated, our waitress experience was subpar. The food was delicious. Next time, maybe we will have better luck!
We had been to Twigs before and our last visit wasn't so good so we decided not to go back when we visited Blowing Rock. Well it had been several years and I had read a lot of good reviews about Twigs so we decided to give it another try. The first thing we encounter is a crying baby. We asked not to be seated next to the baby. I don't understand why people with babies want to take them to high end restaurants. There is an Outback right up the street. When you are paying over $70 for a dinner for two, you don't want to hear a crying baby. Okay, after the baby, my husband and I order two different soups, the broccoli cheddar the tomato bisque. Neither one was very good. It was downhill from there. All I can say is it will be a very long time for us to try it again.
We had the pecan encrusted trout. We're big trout lovers and eat it whenever a restaurant offers it. Both my wife and I said that this was the BEST we've ever eaten. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
Excellent service from beginning to end. Great food and experience overall
Always love our time at Twigs! Food is amazing and the ambiance is lovely!
Waitress was slow and non attentive. Had to get own silverware, water. Walked away from us on at least 2 occasions when trying to ask for silverware. Meat was cooked less than rare when asked for medium rare. Waitress was no where to be found when trying to send it back for additional cooking and no where to be found when we were done with our meal. We will not be returning.
A terrific experience for all six of us. Dinner was prepared awesomely.
Food was fantastic and service was great. Only downside was the amount of food for what you pay. If you don’t get an appetizer(which are small BTY), then you will leave hungry. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and it came with only 3 slices?? I know a tomato does not cost that much and it isn’t that much more effort to cook the rest of the tomato and for $9? Come on now. But what do you expect going to a restaurant like this. Would we go again? Yes. Only because the food was that good.
Lovely intimate restaurant. Very quiet until a loud party of 6 were seated beside us! Waitress was friendly and helpful. Service was rather slow. Our only complaint. Salmon and Shrimp & Grits were both excellent!
New server, forgot to order appetizers, and wasn’t given any backup.
Food was good to pretty good, but felt as if we were eating at a Hometown Buffet cafeteria. How’s that for ambiance.
Then, when we got the bill, finally, they DID remember the appetizer in addition to coffee we didn’t have.
That took another 20 minutes, until we finally went to the front and checked ourselves out!
We celebrated our 8 year anniversary here and it did not disappoint! The food, the service and everything in between was amazing!
The food was prepared very nicely. The service was good, timely and well done.
It was a very nice evening.
Food is way overpriced and just ok. The food and atmosphere is very dated.
Great food and atmosphere. The Shrimp and Grits were the best accompanied by a
Crab Cake appetizer. We WILL be making this a frequent dining experience.
Pricey for choices on menu. Sent back the 26.00 chicken which was so dry and miniature portion. I was told the chef prepared
“Airline chicken”. Would not recommend and return.
The atmosphere is beautiful and always look forward to going there , but the service this time was not very good the server was not attentive and forgot everything we asked for and had very little suggestions to offer about the menu or wine
selections they have been closed for maintenance day so possibly the servers were not on point or organized for this evening after Labor Day
Out food was good but the service was very slow. Not sure if this is typical since it was our first-time.
We eat here every time we are in BR. It never disappoints. Thank you!
A great meal with my daughter. The trout and crabcakes were delicious and wonderfully prepared. Our server was very friendly and competent. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Blowing Rock.
A very good experience
Service and food both subpar. Pasta with chicken was very dry. Appetizers were average. Crab cakes were good but not spectacular. Somewhat disappointed as this was one of my favorite restaurants for many years. Have not been back in some time and will probably not be going back again.
Service not as slow as usual. Room always a little too warm and quite noisy. Very loud table beside us making it especially noisy. But food good and waitress quite pleasant, trying hard to service all the tables she had.
Yummy food and we had the best service!!! They really made our birthday celebration special.
A marvelous affordable alternative to fast food and Main Street.
Like setting and ambiance. The cheese plate was excellent. The trout dish was blend. It would have been better with a light white wine and lemon sauce. No French wine available by the glass and very few by the bottle.
Very nice place with excellent filet mignon. We arrived early but were informed our table would be available at and not before the reservation time. We were directed to the bar which was busy but we found comfortable seats. We waited for the waite staff but were told to order and pay for our drinks at the bar and then take them to our own table ourselves. Others were told the same thing but we thought it was a bit strange. The wines we ordered though were very good and reasonably priced. So after an odd start at the front end and in the bar itself things got MUCH better. The menu was interesting and varied and the waiter was engaging and knowledgable. We had a pimento cheese plate appetizer which was obviously house made and quite good. We both had filet and the included sides and they were very well prepared, the right temperature and delicious. We opted out of dessert as we were well satisfied. It looks like it is a good place for a nice evening as the band was getting going in the bar and the bar was full. We would definitely recommend Twigs for a fine evening.
We had a great experience, so I am glad we went there. However, I did feel that it was over-priced for the quality of the food. We had 4 adults and a child without any alcohol for the table and it was 200 without tip. We had planned to spend that amount, so that wasn't the issue. The issue was that while the menu sounds amazing, the food didn't deliver. My vinaigrette was so vinegary that I couldn't eat it, I think they didn't stir it before ladling it onto the salad. The lamb I had was delicious, but so tiny and by the time I got it my potatoes and peas were cold.
The service was phenomenal (they were great with my daughter which I was not expecting) and the ambiance was great, felt very special, but I honestly felt the food did not meet the price and ambiance.
Replaced quinoa for English Peas. $2.00 up charge. I don't mind paying for the upgrade but 1/4 cup of English peas just didn't cover the upgrade or fill my tummy. Food was delicious.
