The filets were excellent. Some of the best my friend and I have had recently. The rack of lamb my wife had was less impressive. The salads that accompany the meals are always good and appropriately sized. The overall rating and rating for the food would have been a solid 5 if based on the filets.
Only real critism, was very loud, hard to carry on conversation at the table.
Food was very well prepared.
Even though we only had appetizers and salads, our meal was superlative. The oyster appetizer is simply too good! My girlfriend described the crabcake as ethereal, cooked just right to perfection. Our salad of the day special was more than just a salad. It substituted as an entree for both of us and the combo of ingredients with just the right amount of dressing made this salad heads above any others out there. The Spanish marcona almonds in the salad were a stroke of genius. We were just too full to eat any of the great sounding entrees. What a wonderful evening! Can't wait to return.
Brought my daughter here for her 25th birthday, we are from the coast and she is living in Boone. Food was wonderful. Service was great. Nice, cozy place for dinner. She was very please.
This was a wonderful dinner. The food was delicious, they have a full bar, our waiter was attentive and efficient and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Excellent food excellent service. Great options for any appetite.
Service was extremely slow and food was cold when it arrived. They forgot my husband's drink and my salad had several key ingredients left out. They were out of the wine we ordered. We all agreed not to return. Its too bad because Twigs has been in Blowing Rock forever!😥
Booked here for my birthday...we showed up last night and NO AIR CONDITIONING...so uncomfortable we had to leave unfortunately.
We have a second home in BR I needed several very good restaurants there. Twigs has become a favorite and we eat there about once per month when we are up. The food is always great the service is even better. It is favorite restaurant in Blowing Rock.
Made a reservation for 730. Arrived at 7:15 and was seated at a four top in the bar area. After 10 minutes was offered water and was told by the waitress that she was overworked trying to help out people in the main dining room.
One member of the party order the wedge when the second member ordered a wedge we were informed they only had one wedge salad left in the restaurant. Drinks came 30 minutes later. Taking our dinner reservation we were informed that they were out of the featured dish, trout, the featured game of the day, Cuban sandwiches, and thier featured bison burger. We determined all of this only after the waitress had returned to the table 3 times to complete our order for a party of four.
One hour and 30 minutes later the food arrived. The file that was ordered medium arrived rare. The sauce was to be left off of the second dish was on the dish. The burger with cheese was without cheese. After being offered a series of free drinks the free beer offered was delivered. It was not what was ordered.
Finally the manager arrived and offered dessert but then informed us of the desserts that they no longer had. When we finish the meal after 2 1/2 hours. We were then informed that the owner simply refused to staff the restaurant appropriately or provide sufficient food for the items listed. After eating here in the past over the last three years this was an abrupt shock. It seems to explain why there were reservations available every 15 minutes throughout the entire evening when most nearby restaurants were booked solid for the holiday week.
Despite the offers of free alcohol and desserts it did not make up for being at a restaurant for a subpar meal for over 2 1/2 hours. Until the overall management of this facility can be changed I would not recommend it to anyone.
This was not our first time to Twigs, but I believe our food was over-the-top! Delicious! I had the Joyce Farms chicken breast and my husband had the pimento cheese crusted beef. Every bite was enjoyed. Can hardly wait to return!
Meal was excellent but something was wrong with air conditioning, so was a little uncomfortable.
Love this restaurant and the food. However the air conditioning needs to be completely reworked. It was 80 degrees in there! I prefer the low 70’s. There is a sign over the thermostat that read “Do not touch”. So I checked the settings. It was set on 69 but read 80 for the room temp. When I asked the waiter he said, yea it’s an old building and it can’t keep up. Well I know HVAC and it could be fixed if they were willing to fix it. I guess I will be a cold weather customer because I don’t like to sweat when I eat a fine meal. And a fine meal it was! Great food!!!
Our dinner was good, the Kobe steak and the petite filet were excellent. However, the red snapper was overcooked and crusty on the edges. Otherwise I would highly recommend eating at Twiggs.
Such a wonderful restaurant to celebrate a special birthday! Our dinner was delicious, our waiter was perfect! The restaurant is so beautiful. Thank you. We will definitely be back!
The food was delicious and innovative and paced nicely. We tried several specials including a wonderful cauliflower soup and a salad with watermelon, cucumbers and feta with a lemon thyme dressing. We will return on future visits to the area.
Have been going to Twigs for 20 years, if you not gone in awhile try again. New items in the menu and better than ever.
I've eaten at this restaurant prior and remembered food being closer to gourmet than most recent experience. Perhaps I did not order most preferable item for myself. Service and rustic atmosphere was good.
Enjoyed the local crowd banter at bar and staff were very warm, friendly, and professional. Definitely will be back when we are in the area again. Thanks for a special anniversary celebration.
I always love returning to this gem of a dining experience and sharing it with friends and family who have never dined at this elegant business casual friendly to romantic getaway restaurant! This time a new bride (still in gown) and her husband came to have their first married couple dinner together as we were having our after dinner coffee. Staff are impeccably attentive and yet not intrusive - and the menu is creative, colorful and delicious!! Definitely worth checking out if you haven't and it WILL become a favorite of yours too. :)
Best meal I've had in Blowing Rock ever! Great pecan crushed trout with Swiss chard and smashed potatoes... Also great salad with seasonal grout and goat cheese. Wonderful cocktail and wine list. The Desserts were fabulous too! Great service and atmosphere. Will be back EVERY time I'm in Blowing Rock!
Wonderful restaurant! Food outstanding as was service,
Never disappoints! The food is always amazing and consistent. Great selection and great service!
We absolutely love Twigs with their welcoming entrance, first-class table settings, mood-lighting, soft easy jazz, friendly and knowledgable staff, intriguing menu offerings and their stunning deliveries. What a delightful experience. We love our connection to this place. Definitely repeating.
Outstanding food and service. Would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Food was good but not memorable, I think our waitress was new. One guest in our party ordered a cocktail and our waitress forgot to put order in she came back to the table to verify what the drink was. In the meantime other tables were seated and served drinks. Our salads arrived and still no cocktail. Entrees include salad and side so definitely a good value.
Although we visit Blowing Rock at least a couple times a year, this was our first visit to Twiggs. Suffice it to say it won’t be our last. My wife had the pecan encrusted trout and I had the Kobe flank steak. Both meals were exceptional. Can’t wait to come back.
Hit & miss. Pork entree was well crafted. The spaghetti squash entree was quite underseasoned, disappointing. The wedge salad with “heirloom tomatoes” had a barely ripe quarter of a food lion tomato. The chocolate torte was quite tasty. Service and ambiance were quite good.
Twigs continues as one of our “Go-to” dining spots in Blowing Rock..
Sydney (sp?) was a wonderful Server:: helpful, friendly, informative
Great food (Red Snapper was tasty), ambiance, good wine selection
Twigs was a good choice for an early father's day dinner for 4. Their was a venison special that my father-in-law really enjoyed and the petit fillet was cooked perfectly. The service was a little sporadic but the restaurant was busy. There is a bar in the back that offered live music. It was a little smoky getting in and out of the restaurant and could not tell if that was the bar or was due to the front door staying open.
Excellent food and service. Was noisy inside (Saturday night) but we ate outside where it was very pleasant and quiet. Will definitely come back when we return to the area.
Excellent restaurant. Our first visit and what a wonderful dinner. The ambiance, service, cocktails, and food was exceptional. Staff was friendly and efficient. Their knowledge of offerings and drinks was on spot. We were with old friends so the noise level for conversation was so appropriate as we shared new and old information and time to catch up. The pace of the evening was absolutely wonderful. The meal was sumptuous. Will return with other friends and family.
Anniversary dinner. Everything was great but the noise level was pretty high. We had trouble hearing each other. The restaurant was full, which is good!
Went there for our anniversary. Hostess was nice, and sat us in a room off to the side near a fireplace, which seemed great initially. 10 minutes after seating, our waitress came, asking if we wanted something other than water. I asked for a dirty martini with bleu cheese olives. You could tell she was overwhelmed with a very specific order as she did not write it down, and was quick to tell me they can't make blue cheese olives. Fine dining? She rushed our order through, and the salads came, looking like the most pathetic salad around. All the time, staff in the lobby yelled and ran around like it was a server station. After tracking our server down for more drinks, we realized this was a pick up section, as every table had a different server, even though there were 6 tables. The entrees were delicious, which was the one bright spot for the evening. As we departed, what appeared to be the loudest rudest busser thanked us, while drinking a glass of wine. We presume it may have been a manager as earlier, we witnessed the chef come out the door by the hostess stand and yell at him regarding front of the house staff...really professional, but will not return again.
Lovely ambiance, food and desserts were outstanding. We had lamb chops and red snapper. Both done beautifully by the chef. We come to Twigs on dates or with friends often. It’s the kind of place you can come a little causal or all spiffed up and be comfy either way. The bar is great! Highly recommend!!
Everything was great
Place is always good, great food great service. The one place me and my family always visit when in town
Amazing food, cocktails and amazing and fun time overall! As usual, does not disappoint!
When it came to decide where to go for our 39th anniversary it had to be Twigs! When you go start with the flash fry oysters and ask for extra bread! Very shareable...and you will need the bread to get all the extraordinary sauce. We all had the chef special that night - halibut prepared to perfection. Great company, great food, great night!
What a fantastic experience! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. Our server was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town and we highly recommend this restaurant. Fantastic!
