Twigs Restaurant and Bar
Twigs supports local farmers and co-ops whenever possible. We source local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each and every dish is prepared to order by our highly trained kitchen staff and served with a warm smile from our attentive waitstaff.
Great meal this year..service spot on, lamb chops divine.
A recent visit to Blowing Rock was our first to Twigs, but when we return we will dine there often. The menu is interesting and varied and the dishes we chose (vela and trout) were delicious as well as beautifully presented. We appreciated that a salad, as well as sides, are included which makes the cost of a meal very reasonable. Even though we didn't have wine, we noted the extensive list and knew that it would be popular with the serious wine drinkers.
We also appreciated the spacious seating that allowed for conversation as well as the low key and tasteful decor. Our server was knowledgeable and efficient and observations of other staff, it is obvious that they are well-trained and professional.
Our Twigs experience was a highlight of a couples getaway, and we look forward to another visit before too long.
Had a wonderful delicious experience. Next time we are in Blowing Rock will definitly return for dinner.
Restaurant did not have the OpenTable confirmed reservation when we arrived!
Food was ok. We just wish that there had been some healthy options on the menu. Twig's food is pretty much the same as the food in the other Blowing Rock restaurants.
Left our hotel, travel slowed down because of heavy rain. We were 5 minutes late for our reservation , we were told because we were late had to wait another 25 minutes. Poor policy .
,We were celebrating 100 years of marriage, 61 for us and 39 for our daughter and husband, Jimmy. It was a wonderful evening, and we enjoyed a delicious dinner, served by a delightful young lady Taylor. Perfect evening!
Great place to celebrate our anniversary. The food was outstanding!!! The service was tremendous! The oyster appetizer was out of this world!
Our reservation was for 8:30, but we didn’t get seated until after 9:30– apparently, a reservation just provides a place in line. When we finally got a table, the service was prompt and friendly. Oysters and Brussels sprouts were delicious and the beef was good. However, the “wild-caught” salmon was tasteless and undercooked. The acoustics are terrible— don’t expect to have a quiet, romantic evening there. With such a noisy space, “fine dining” is not possible.
Great food! Too busy so service was slow. We had to wait 45 mins and we had a reservation!
We had gone to Twigs last summer and thought it was very good. We brought our friends visiting from New York there a few days ago. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. A house salad comes with each entree but it is nothing special. There is an up charge of $6 to substitute one of their specialty salads. My friend got the fried Romaine, and the lettuce itself was fine. However, the corn fritter that came with it was soggy and the other ingredients totally incongruent to fried Romaine. We also had the fried oysters which were mushy and actually tasted like liver! I had the Halibut special which was o.k., but again nothing memorable. The best dish of our group was the plain trout, which my husband had, and did enjoy. The service was extremely slow, but fairly attentive. My friend, who has traveled all over the world, described the restaurant as mediocre, with which I sadly have to agree.
Another Home Run meal at Twigs! Thank you for another wonderful evening!😊
Delicious, great service, wonderful ambiance in main dinning roomand large wine list. If you go once, you'll return over and over again.
We just enjoyed another fine meal at Twigs. Our party either ordered the trout or shrimp and grits. All food was delicious.
On this night, our orders were slow to come, but our server was very good and kept an eye on us. The manager stopped by our table to apologize for the delay. He offered a round of beverages as compensation.
We will be returning. Overall, very satisfied with both our meals and service.
We had excellent service on a very busy night. Our waitress could not have been more pleasant.
Nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and the food was also very good. The bar area was a little small and very crowded. They had a band playing in one of the bar areas. We both had flash fried oysters large and a filet with mashed potatoes. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends.
We visited for a date night dinner on Sat., Jun 29. It started out well, very quiet setting, greeted by the hostess, sever was attentive and even made suggestions for wine. The food was fantastic; chicken breast with the veggies and something else seafood.
Once the meal was served, the sever disappeared for a long time, long enough to run completely out of water. We had to ask someone who was setting other tables in the area to help us. We did state that our server hasn’t been by and they said they would get her. The rest of the night, we never saw the sever at our table again (other brought the check to us).
The music started playing in the bar area in the middle of eating our dinner. The music didn’t atmosphere of the restaurant and it was a bit loud and overwhelming.
We had spoken with some locals in town about this place and they were of the same opinion we were after we left; great food, pretty place and so-so service.
Delicious food and an excellent wine list at great prices!
Love this restaurant ! Come here often!
Usually get trout. YUM! And oysters for appetizer .
Oysters last Friday night were AWFUL. !!! Corrn meal coating falling off not quite cooked. Yuck!!! Cook must have gotten busy. We should have sent back.
Overall Twigs is a great restaurant and I won’t let a few bad oysters spoil it ! Ha!
We always find a special experience at Twigs. It is a favorite place to celebrate special occasions or going there makes it special.
Excellent for special occasion. Could not afford prices too frequently. We had a good meal and the atmosphere is very nice.
Lovely dinner for our 40th wedding anniversary. Liz waited on us and was a pleasure!
Great food and wonderful service. I asked the chef to cook what he would eat and the venison steaks came out great!
The food was excellent. We both had the trout but prepared differently. Both were outstanding. Service was great. They paced the delivery of the food and didn’t rush us but were alert to any needs. Even when the restaurant got full, the noise level good. We definitely will go back.
It was Father's Day and they were short staffed. Food was great but slow in coming. Our server was very apologetic. NOT HER FAULT but she seemed overwhelmed.
Excellent meal, excellent service, highly recommend
As other reviewers have said, the service leaves something to be desired. We ordered drinks and appetizers right away. Appetizers made their way out considerably sooner than our drinks. Salad dressings were a bit too tangy. We had the Gorgonzola walnut and goat cheese & champagne Vinaigrette. Our meals were so, so good! We had the venison chops and shrimp & grits!
The server gave us the wrong bill. Now there is a big mess straightening out our bill because the restaurant charged us for the incorrect amount and then charged the correct amount resulting in almost $450 in charges to our cc. Tried to contact the restaurant, left a vm & did not get a return call. Had to call cc company to monitor charge and see if both pending charges post. All we wanted was a nice dinner out and it turned into a mess. We won’t go back and if I were you, just know these things going in:
Service doesn’t meet expectations
Chairs are very uncomfortable
Review your check before leaving
Don’t expect a pleasant greeting when you enter. We were told she would be with us in a few minutes, she had some credit cards she needed to run....what?!
The food is fantastic but watch out for the tangy salad dressings.
As always the food was outstanding. The service was a little slower than normal, but there was a lot going on in Blowing Rock and as you could see riding through town there were many people eating at all the restaurants.
Food was excellent! Comparable to much more expensive restaurant in Blowing Rock. Highly recommend the flash fried oysters as an appetizer. Service was professional and friendly.
First night in Blowing Rock and the family made reservations here. Really good decision.
All entrees were well prepared and very tasty. The Duck appy was great!
Our servers were very attentive and the entire service was fabulous.
Highly recommend this as an option when next in Blowing Rock.
The ambiance is very nice, the food was very good but the service dragged down the rating that I gave. Service and food were quite slow and waiter never came back to ask if everything was ok, also didn’t pour the wine from the bottle that we had ordered so out of necessity we poured our own. The food was served and after meal was finished he came back to bring the check. With more attentive wait staff, this could be a very nice restaurant!
Nice combination of rustic and upscale. Great ambiance and comfortable environment. Dress is not an issue, people were wearing shorts/polo shirts, jeans, capri's, dresses and suits, nobody felt out of place. The food was excellent. Best dining experience we've had in Blowing Rock.
Fantastic meal. Would go again. Highly recommend. Be sure to make a reservation.
We’ve eaten at Twig’s 5 or 6 times and it was always great. This time it was not. The service was OK but fairly slow. We ordered 2 filets, mine was fine but my wife had to send her’s back twice. By the time her’s was cooked the way she ordered it mine was cold. We noticed several other tables that sent their food back and one was because they brought the gentleman something he had not ordered. We are hoping that this was just a bad night which any restaurant can have.
Very friendly vibe, excellent atmosphere. Great food. Fun place -- will come back.
The food is outstanding and the service was superb. One of our favorite restaurants.
It was our anniversary and we had a wonderful meal with very good service. Our waitress and her waiter in training were ver personable and took very good care of us.
Great specials and our waitress was superb
Great food, but too pricy for regular patronage. Entrees are over priced.
