Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar - Bridgeport Ratings and Reviews
This place might be good for a afternoon coffee break but I would not buy dinner there and their so called martini bar left a lot to be desired. I ordered a black and blue 10 oz. NY strip. When I got it, it was cooked well done and not med rare, and for 10 oz steak it was like 1/4 inch thick at best. I knew it was going to be bad. Also it was served with mash potatoes that were cold in spot like they were microwaved out of the fridge. The waitress reordered another one for me and it was slightly less dry but still over cooked. It was suppose to be black pepper crusted which it wasn't. I was not expecting a prime aged steak nor was I expecting a select grade either which I think it was. But for $30.00 and I was not expecting a piece of leather and cold mashers. Plus they do not even serve bread with the meal which is unusual also. I must give them credit though their French fries were fresh and hot.
I love going to Twigs - the food is consistently delicious, the staff is attentive without being annoying and while it can be loud due to the open seating style, it always feels like your having a great time. Everything we’ve tried has tasted fresh, is appropriately hot or chilled and the portion sizes are a good value for the price. Gems: calamari with roasted artichoke hearts, fig & prosciutto flatbread, any entree and the sticky cookie. Their drinks are beautifully mixed and presented. Go and have a great time!
Had a business lunch with 5 of us-we'd made a reservation and arrived a few minutes prior to our time. The table wasn't ready even though the restaurant was practically empty at that time. Then, the service was extremely slow--it took nearly 30 minutes for our order to be taken and then forever for our food to come. Considering that 3 of our party ordered appetizers for their meal and one had a salad, that was unacceptable. It's lunchtime with a business crowd--slow service is not OK. We had to chase down the check since two of our team had to get back to the office for a meeting.
Overall--you pay for the ambiance and decor (which is great), not for the food or service, which are just average.
First time I ordered Salmon not well one in a restaurant and they actually came through. No problem with special requests, Wait staff very nice and accommodating. The meals were great. I will definatrly return here. Only complaint I have is the Martinis had a little bit of slivered ice which watered them down a bit as it melted.
for the most part the experience was good, but our server pushed desserts on us. it was a birthday celebration of two people in their 70s - they asked for the bday dessert (that's all they needed!) but server tried to put it off saying it was too small and kept pushing the dessert menu - she obviously wanted us to order off the paying menu! it was rude.
Great happy hour and enough seating so you didn't feel crowded, but still got a good vibe from the room. Enjoyed some signature brews, but the mojitos ROCKED so after tasting mine, the entire table switched to mojitos for their second round!
Appetizers are good for sharing - we tried the hummus, fig/prosciutto flatbread, bruschetta flatbread; and all were good. Liked that it was easy for us to order some vegetarian/vegan options easily, and that the service was great! Recommend this for a nice HH option.
Wanted to go out for a family dinner on a Friday night and chose Twigs since hadn't been there in a while. Friendly staff, competent waitstaff and they all showed great teamwork. Food was good and choices were ample. I've been there numerous times for all different reasons/occasions, HH, small group to a large group to just the family and Twigs accommodates it all and very well. Service was prompt but we didn't feel rushed and the ambiance was great. A nice meal out with the family just before a road trip... it hit the spot.
Four dinners and all plates served Luke warm. Most were too hungry to sen back and wait
One hamburger ordered med rare and first one served well done. This was was reordered and sent back and second hamburger was also well done.
The waitress, while friendly when we saw her, did not check back with us very often nor was offers to refill soft drink without calling her to our table. She was very sorry for the hamburger being over cooked twice, but did not offer up a manager and started to walk away. That is when I asked for a manager who was apologetic and said there would be no charge and would speak to the kitchen staff. This burger was also luke warm which was interesting since it was supposedly right off the grill.
We have been long time twigs patrons in this location as well as other cities and it appears to me that quality control is slipping here as well as Tri Cities and Spokane area. Hopefully some new education to all from management would but them back on favor.
The appetizers were delicious. The artichoke dip one of our family favorites. These are bigger servings so it makes it feel like you're getting good value. The Moroccan beef is absolutely delicious. Very tender. Service was impeccable. The server was absolutely one of the most attentive I've ever had. Very enjoyable.
Our family went here for the Mother's Day brunch. We were pretty disappointed because we have a good luck with this restaurant before. There was hardly any food to choose from and the food was cold. We had a later reservation so everything was picked over and never replenished. It was definitely not worth what we paid for. Would not recommend this for a Mothers Day brunch buffet.
I'm very disappointment with the service and food. It's not worth paying $28.99 for a Mother's Day brunch buffet. I order the classic Benedict and never got it. The buffet table was dirty. The dessert table was a joke. It was a chocolate fondue fountain that didn't work so people had to dip their sticks into the bottom of the fountain. There were bite size rice crispy treats, red vine candy, donut holes, and strawberries as their dessert to dip into the clogged chocolate fountain. The au jus for the prime rib taste like cooking oil. If I had to said something good about this place is the overcooked salmon was decent enough to eat. This is the worst mother's day brunch I've ever taken my mom to. Never coming back again.
We typically love Twigs and have eaten here many times. We had the Mothers Day Brunch here about three years ago and it was really good so we thought we would try it again. It was extremely disappointing. The food selection was 1/2 of what it was a few years ago, if that. Most of it was cold, the dessert bar was very small and only chocolate fondue. We wanted to order an omelet since the selection was so poor but the server never came back. We were very disappointed, we left hungry and spent over $100 for three people.
Mother's Day, the website wasn't updated so there was confusion about their open time so I wasn't sure about my confirmation of booking , had to confirm also there was only one option which is buffet , most of my party has different dietary restrictions so that was not optimal but overall it was an awesome experience. We've been here before and would come again !!!
Mother's Day Brunch, like most mother's day brunches, was not a tremendous value. Most disappointing was the eggs benedict. If you are going to include poached eggs on the menu, you should know how to cook a poached egg. In this case all four of the poached eggs that came to our table included just marginal traces of stringy unappetizing egg white with a detached yolk sloppily placed on a soggy english muffin and covered in an un-emulsified "hollandaise" sauce. With that said, the rest of the breakfast offerings weren't terrible.
I Decided to try Twigs with my wife after seeing their gluten-free menu online. Our server was great she was friendly, knowledgeable and was able to provide attentive service without hovering .
We had decent cocktails and ordered the crab appetizer with gluten free bread. It was great. I had a Cuban (a simple sandwich (that is not always executed properly) and it was also very well done.
The only issue I had was towards the end of our meal, a kitchen worker with a shaved head and a hooded sweatshirt berated a female employee on the service floor.
It was both visually and audibly disturbing. I felt terrible watching it and it did affect my mood and overall enjoyment of the meal. I truly hope she is OK and the man in question faced some sort of disciplinary action.
We will most likely be back .
Our meal was fine. Maybe a little spendy for the value, but it tasted ok. Dietary restriction info isn't printed on the menu, so I would call ahead if you have any. The only thing that was specifically off putting was the service. It was a little harried and our drinks took a long time to come out. We also watched a busser wipe crumbs off a nearby table into his hand, only to toss them into the floor next to us. Probably won't go back for a special occasion, maybe better for something like a casual happy hour.
