Twenty8 Food & Spirits Ratings and Reviews
Waited 25 minutes for our drinks, then the waiter decided to come tell us that they didn't have the alcohol for my wife's drink and had to order something else and wait for those drinks, 35 minutes for drinks, I asked for a pizza well done, it came out just about raw, we will never be back nor will we recommend
The meal was outstanding. The service could have been a little better. We waited 55 minutes after we ordered our appetizers for them to arrive which seemed excessive as we were the only people in the dining room at the time. After that it was all smooth in timing. The other hiccup was we ordered a bottle of wine and when we asked for another they were out. They suggested another that was $20.00 more than the bottle we started with but after we told them about the delay in the food agreed to give it to us for same price as original.
We were there for restaurant week. You could order from a special menu or pick from their regular menu. The special menu was a great value and the food was very good. This restaurant is located in a sports complex so when there are no events at the stadium it is a nice quiet place to relax and enjoy good food. The staff is very attentive and the drinks are also good. We look forward to returning.
Food was very good but I was very disappointed as I noted in my resevation to bring a dessert out for my boyfriend's birthday and they completely forgot....waiter was very young and not experienced which should not be the case with prices so high.....you expect better.
The wait staff was exceptional! The garlic Parmesan wings were large and delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately there was a large chunk of fat in the middle but the chef took the charge for the steak off our bill. The cheesecake was very good. I would highly recommend for a great dining experience.
I booked an 11am lunch to celebrate our anniversary. I did not know it was inside the Renaissance. When we entered the hotel, no signs of the restaurant name could be found.
It was a Friday, barely anyone there. We had a table by the window, I could see the table's edges were quite beat up. Kind of like they have been used for 10+ years. I guess if you go after sunset, with the romantic dimmed light or a table cloth, you may not see it. I thought they just open this hotel for less than 5 years, but I could be wrong. For that, 3 stars for Ambiance.
Husband had a Bloody Mary; he said it was too thick, didn't like it. He waited for the ice to melt a bit and thin out his drink, still didn't like it. His club sandwich was fine. Really like their fries. For that, 1 star deducted from Food.
I was disappointed that they didn't serve hot entree for lunch. I should have read the menu before I booked the table. For that, another star deducted from Food.
I ordered Wedge salad, added a "steak" for additional $6. I was expected a few steak tips, but it turned out to be a sirloin steak on a separate plate and pretty good size (bigger than my hand).
The 2-people little table was covered with 2 plates of food, an additional plate for the steak, a big plate of Angus Pub Poutine, a coffee pot and cup, Bloody Mary glass, and 2 glasses of water. All of a sudden, the check appeared between all these plates. What's the rush? There was only 1 other table of guests there. For that, 2 stars deducted from Service.
It was my mistake for spending more time to find out how to use the OpenTable Dining Rewards Gift. The manager was very kind. He was running around, making calls, and then found out that I needed to activate the gift online and picked a restaurant there. And Twenty8 actually do not participate in the rewards gift, but he gave me a discount anyways. So, that exceeded my expectation. For that, I added 1 star back to Service.
Had reservations at seven and did not get seated until 7:30. Then waited fifteen minutes before a waiter acknowledged we had been seated and said he would be right over. In the mean time he had already brought drinks and appetizers to another table seated after us. Fifteen minutes later we placed our order which included appetizers and salads. After thirty minutes the appetizers arrived followed immediately by our entre'. So we have appetizers salads and the main course on the table all getting cold. No sorry about this or can we hold your dinners, simply here it is. And any empty plate remained on the table until the check arrived. Also when it was time to pay the waiter brings my credit card to another table for them to sign. Had I not been paying attention my credit card would have walked out of the restaurant. For the exhorbinant price of the meal I would have expected better service. The next night we ate at Luciano's down the street. They know how to do it right. Twenty 8 should stop by to learn a thing or two.
Slow bar service. Chicken Caesar salad came without chicken. Food wasn't hot enough. Waiter and restaurant manager were very nice and did their best but couldn't make up for irresponsible parents/noisy kids in adjoining lobby area, slow bar service, mediocre food and kitchen errors. Chicken Caesar salad was taken off bill- kudos for that!
We went for dinner on a Sunday night. There were two other tables in the restaurant. The service was painfully slow so it started poorly. We ordered our food (more expensive on the menu in house than listed online) and waited and waited. Finally our food came and it was mediocre. The lobster roll was small, the steak was overcooked and the fried fish was barely warm. I had made a note when I made the reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary so when we asked for the check the waiter tried to delay so that they had time to put something together. While I appreciated them bringing a piece of cake, the meal had already taken so long we were just ready to go. Overall we paid a lot of money for very average food. I will not be returning.
I and my friends joined up at Twenty8 for dinner. We found the service to be attentive and the beer selection to be very good. The menu has a great mix of items, seafood, steak, etc.
We had the Twenty8 pizza, whisky burger, lobster roll, calamari and other items.
i went to twenty8 on valentine's day and there was an incredibly loud wedding next door. i felt it was incredibly disingenuous that there was no mention of the wedding when my reservation was confirmed on the phone hours before my meal. this would have been fine had it not been valentine's day, but i was looking for a particular level of ambiance that was absolutely not met by my dining experience. also, i was stuck there because every other restaurant was booked given the day...
