Twelves Grill & Cafe
Twelves began with renovations of the 125 year old bank in January 2008 and the doors to the restaurant were opened on August 26, 2008. Twelves continues to be an amazing part of the West Grove Borough. We currently seat for lunch, brunch, and dinner along with hosting private events, special themed dinners, and local fundraisers.
Twelves Grill and Cafe is owned and operated by Knute and Bernadette Mellon. The Mellon's are originally from Philadelphia and moved to West Grove in 2013. They have three children Gavin, McKayla, and Maci. The Mellon Family has many exciting plans for the future here in West Grove.

Great crab cakes and cream of mushroom soup!
Great food and service was impeccable. I would definitely go back or recommend this place to someone that likes a nice BYOB.
The food was nicely done, nothing outstanding, but certainly ok. The problem was the waiting.... we were seated quickly, took awhile to get a menu, then awhile till our order was taken. It seemed an unusually long time till we had our food, although being told several times it was almost ready. Then a long time till we could stop someone to ask from more water, and the bill. Then after handed the bill, asked if we wanted dessert. ...by that time, we had been there for an hour and a half! Even after giving the credit card to pay, we waited another 15 min to have the bill to sign. I don’t know if they were short staffed (saw at least 3 different servers) or why things were so slow.
Love this place. Mary is our favorite waitress - had her now for over 10 years. Tried a special that was seared cod - so moist and good! Always a pleasure to dine here!
Our server was very upbeat and energetic and the food was great--we shared the portabella fries (YUM!) but my dinner partner had the cod special and I had the trumpet mushroom stir fry which was great. Looking forward to the introduction of beer to their offerings soon!
Perfect night! Food was amazing.
Mushroom soup was great and so was the grilled cheese. Enjoyed they portobello appetizer
The service was excellent as was the food (appetizer, soup, entree, and dessert). The scallops, which can sometimes be bland, were nicely spicy. The fried calamari is light and the sauce is delicious. Twelves is wonderful for date night, a group of friends, or family meals.
Twelves Grill used to be one of our favorites, but too many disappointments in one meal to return.
We like to go to Twelves because the food and service are good and relaxed. BUT...……..You need to get a better recipe for dressing on Caesar salad. A good Caesar salad dressing has lemon juice, anchovies, garlic and olive oil. Check Julia Child. The croutons that you served weren't great either.
Other than that, everything was fine and the staff was very very nice.
We had not dined at Twelves in awhile but were so excited to have a chance to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. It seemed only fitting to celebrate No. 12 at Twelves and wow did we make the right choice! The food was delicious, our server was super fun and we got to take our time and have a nice meal! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Seated at rear of restaurant to start. Ceiling fan at high and air conditioning very high. Sat at table but was cold. Asked to move to front table, instead of saying sure offered to cover vents in back. Food was average across the board. Waitress was very nice but staffing was short handed and it was noticed. Have dined here previously but had been a year and a half. Probably won’t try again for a while. Better local options in my opinion.
Excellent! Great evening with good friends and wonderful food and service.
Our waitress was superb! Service and ambience great. Menu for lunch was awesome. My only reason for not giving the 5 star for food was that the roasted vegetable roll-up was mostly some kind of rolled leafy green. I didn't detect much in asparagus and peppers, two of the vegetables on the list.
We had heard great reviews from friends who had been. So, we decided to ask friends to join us for dinner and had a great time from beginning to end.
Jeanie and her daughter made us feel like family from the moment we arrived.
It was a friends get together and we enjoyed the food. The service was great. Would definitely go back again.
My husband and I have an excellent meal. Our waitress Jamie was exceptional. Very friendly, very helpful. Hope to get back again soon and hopefully have Jamie wait on us again.
Six of us dined together for a reunion of old friends. Our waitress (Angie) was very personable and friendly. Each of our meals were cooked exactly according to our individual requests (rare, medium rare, and fully cooked). All of us enjoyed our selected meals (our entrees included seafood, roast duck, and chicken). The mushroom soup was particularly good. The Cafe and Angie were very considerate in that they didn't rush us and allowed us to dine and talk knowing that we hadn't seen each other for several months. I would recommend The Twelves Grill and Cafe for a night out of good food and company.
Excellent service and food. The menu is varied and full of fresh, local dishes. The chef is creative and provides an excellent selection of options. The venue is unique and comfortable. Give it a try.
Twelves has had a bit of trouble getting back on its feet since the exodus of the prior owner chef. I thought this new young master was going to be the answer, but the jury is still out. One of our party had a delicious meal, the other did not. Neither item was a special request; both were straight off the menu. Crab cakes and mushroom soup were very good, and encouraged a return visit to have it again. The gnocchi were a huge disappointment. The dough was uncooked in the middle, and the pieces were heavy and cut unevenly. Instead of hand rolling the little pieces they were just rolled into the tube and cut, and cut into different sized pieces at that. The ratatouille was bland and overcooked. This dish could have been elevated to stellar levels by taking more time with the dough, and roasting the vegetables to a cartelized deliciousness. This little spot has a monopoly on fine dining in the area and I hope they get it all the way together. Our server, an experience waitress from the prior owner's days, was exceptional. Service is never the issue here, but the food can be.
I have been coming to Twelves for a long time, I’m an original OG as I have been referred to. However, I haven’t been there in some time. Last week I came in and the lunch was astonishing! The cheese plate was above all others and my server was a complete professional gentleman. My #1 go to.
Twelve’s is amazing! The staff is very accommodating and extremely friendly and the food is the best!
Wonderful dinner and excellent service
Delicious food, great service, friendly atmosphere!
Great! This was our 3rd time. Food always good but the last couple of times service was slow (but friendly). Not a big deal as we like to relax. This time service was much faster and still just as friendly and attentive. We had Twelves bread and burrata as appetizers - yum. I had seafood stew special-cooked perfect (sometimes seafood can be dry). Husband had Parmesan crusted chicken that he really enjoyed.
This place has got so much better! New chef is out of this world. We had the salmon and lamb, both were perfect. Our waitress was telling us about all the fun events they do here now. This town needs the dust shaken off an looks like Twelves is the place to be! See you again soon! Can’t wait to try the craft beers
As usual, food was excellent. Took some time to arrive but was worth the wait.
From the Twelves Bread appetizer through the ceasar salad, halibut and salmon entrees to the white chocolate bomb our meal was great! An added bonus was the excellent service provided by Kim and the other servers.
Fried oysters & aioli were great! Burger on the "trio" was ordered medium, but came well done (very hard, dry and black with no pink or moisture inside). "Old Bay" fries had no hint of Old Bay on them that I could taste. Crab cake was respectable... lots of lump crab but just a basic flavor with nothing distinguishing it as superlative or different from other good ones. All in all, an excellent restaurant. My comments are minor and in no way reflect a bad experience. They are meant as a "heads up." We will be back.
Good menu variety, crab cake Benedict was delicious, great food presentation, great service, friendly, charming “old bank” decor
I have recommended Twelves to acquaintances and friends when they are going to be visiting the southern part of Chester county. It is easy to find. Not one has been disappointed. I meet a friend from Maryland there for lunch several times a year. We always have the cream of mushroom soup with lump crab!!!; the best! You must put a slice of French bread on the rim of the cup or bowl. It is good to the very last drop and I don't want to miss any of it!! The menu is terrific. I go home a happy person after enjoying my meal and sharing a wonderful dessert.
The staff is just right!
Thank you for continuing to prepare delicious fare!!!
Not as good as it used to be
West Grove may not be known as a culinary destination (unless you're looking for mushrooms), but Twelves Grill is a great draw. Made reservations for a Friday night, and we were seated immediately. Service was friendly. Food was good. Loved the calamari, which was only lightly breaded and fresh (no chewiness). We ordered burgers (the menu offers many "higher scale" options), which were cooked as ordered and were very filling. But we still made room for dessert and can recommend the pound cake, which was much lighter than expected and very good.
My only complaint: We were seated by a portable air conditioner that blew cold air at my back. I could tolerate it, but if my wife had been in my seat, we would have moved or left.
The new chef is outstanding with a really nice menu. It was an outstanding experience with great food and outstanding service by Jamie our food server. The entire staff were extremely friendly and very efficient.
Very fresh, delicious food and a mellow atmosphere
We Enjoyed excellent food and service. This place was recommended by a friend and we will go there again.
Been going there for years and have never had a complaint. Nice upscale restaurant for small town and staff very friendly.
Food was amazing. We sat outside and everyone that was leaving after the meal stopped to tell us how impressive the food is, especially being in a small town. Twelves did not disappoint. As one diner told us, "NYC, Philly, high level food!". Parsnip salad and "Twelves" bread were delicious.
Every time we dine at Twelves it’s outstanding. We celebrated Fathers Day. We just love Twelves
Twelves is one of our favorite local restaurants, yet I've never taken the time to review them...so today is the day!
Things we love about Twelves: (1) BYOB, (2) comfortable & well appointed dining room (we like to sit at the "high top" community table because it gives us a casual bar-like feel), (3) outdoor seating on their front porch, (4) varied and well priced menu, and (5) outstanding, fun, nice, attentive staff.... we love all the ladies, but Mary in particular has taken care of us for many years and is our favorite server, who we consider a friend.
Twelves changed ownership about a year ago and you always worry / hope that the same quality is retained. After a few chef changes, they brought Chef Nick onboard. He's local and had worked previously at Twelves. WOW - what a great addition. His food is thoughtfully composed and well executed!
So in summary, the food is excellent and the service / staff are outstanding! It's well worth a visit and pretty soon you'll be a regular.
