12@MADISON Ratings and Reviews
So sad to give a mediocre/poor review of my beloved 12@Madison. First, let me say that my wife and I had been HUGE fans of the original Twelve, and initially of the reboot, 12@Madison as well. However, with each visit to the new 12 our experience in all facets (food, service, and value) has steadily decreased. This last trip to 12 will probably be just that, our last. From walking in the door to leaving, service was never anything more than just "Meh". A far cry from a year ago when they opened the doors. The portion sizes are now not even up to Tapas standards; small is too big of a word for these plates. The food quality is good, but just not up to par for Chef Osaka. We left feeling a bit heartbroken, underwhelmed, and hungry. After spending over $140 for two people, your conversation while walking to the car shouldn't be trying to decide where to go get a quick bite to eat. Goodbye for now 12. If I hear things are better we'll be back, otherwise, I think our love affair is over. There are just way too many exceptional restaurants on the Denver scene now to waste time and money on something that just is no longer up to the current culinary climate.
Our server had a great balance of time at the table and time to ourselves. Lauren was fantastic at giving suggestions, and was just really enjoyable to talk with. Each dish continued to impress us more and more throughout the evening. We have already told many about our wonderful experience and you can expect us to come back!
Food was fantastic. The plates are small but allowed us to share and try many of the plates. We ended up ordering two of the Gnocci because it was delicious. The beet risotto and potato fingerlings were amazing. Restaurant is somewhat hard to find because of signage and right next door to a Pilates studio, but once inside it is very warm and inviting.
I cannot get over how amazing the food on the menu is however, what is not to be missed is the whatever Chef Ashley has prepared for the evening as her Plat du Jour. We had osso bucco that I would kill for the recipe. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys delicious food and a good time.
Holy cow, they’re on the way to a James Beard award and a Michelin star if they ever come to Denver. The onion soup is outstanding, the correct temperature, the flavor, the crab, the warm potato salad. My one complaint was the drinks were a bit strong and they only had 5 cocktails featured but the Pino noir was really good. It’s outstanding and intimate. We’ll be back very soon.
Went here for my birthday and had a great time. The restaurant is small and quite loud when you enter, but we had requested a quiet table and we sat near the kitchen and it was wonderful. Our server was great - friendly, attentive but not overbearing, and very knowledgeable. The food was varied and absolutely delicious - so many things sounded great it was hard to choose.
The beet risotto was a real standout, as was the cabbage and the pork in pasty - all were really, really good. Parker House rolls are small and extremely cute, and also quite tasty. The mushroom gnocchi and panna cotta dessert were not as good in comparison.
We were not only well fed, but also well taken care of. We will definitely be returning to 12@Madison soon!
There were three in our party. We all got different drinks and loved our choices. Our servers were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We ordered their specialty for the night which was a clam chowder. The scallops were huge and the most delicious, well prepared scallops I’ve gotten. We also got the beef tongue and mushroom Wellington. It was phenomenal! I recommend going with more than just two people. It was nice having three people to try different small plates. It’s a small restaurant so definitely not made for big parties.
In Denver right now, there is a glut of good restaurants, so if your service and your food aren't very good, you don't last long. The service was WONDERFUL and all the servers acted like a team to clear dishes, deliver silverware and plates and deliver food. This is no easy feat as we ordered 6 small dishes and the plates and silverware were cleared after every dish. We never had to wait for plates or silverware, just amazing for any restaurant. The food was very pretty, slightly under-seasoned (could just be me) and hearty - the lamb and raviolis were our favorites. A wonderful restaurant to which we will look forward to another meal!
