This is a lovely neighborhood restaurant with delicious Italian food. Everything is delicious - you can't go wrong!
This place is great-we have been there many times over the past few years. Un fortunately their last day in business is this Sunday 06/26/16. The majority of the block is being torn down and replace with an apartment complex. Tutto does not have any plans to reopen anywhere soon.
Service was really slow and the food wasn't anything special.
Nice place food was very good.
The food was very average; nothing special. Veal Parm was bland and flavorless. And the service was truly terrible, given the fact that there were only 3 tables seated in the whole restaurant.
We really enjoyed our experience at Tutto for Mother's Day. The food was great and the staff was very attentive. My husband particularly liked the sizable portions. It was good value for the money. I would recommend this place.
Delicious meals, outstanding service, warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Was okay but my entree was very salty. Need to go less with the salt
Great service. Asked for a couple entrees to be made w less cream in sauce and they turned out delicious. Kept craving them for weeks.
Everything was excellent from the drinks to the pastas and meat entrees. My caesar salad was incredibly fresh with a handmade dressing. The service was excellent, also. An easy ride on the Red Line to Sheridan or even bus 151. Quick cab ride from the downtown hotels. Give them a visit.
We have enjoyed Tutto Fresco for years - GREAT food, very efficient & friendly staff, good prices ... BUT, they're leaving this location at the end of June - along with so many other businesses & theatres on the street while "development" happens. Keep your fingers crossed - or HELP with info you may have - for ANOTHER area location for them ... WE NEED TUTTO FRESCO! anyway - go check them out - we especially enjoyed the grilled calamari (sauce would be put on cardboard and your eyes would roll!) and their eggplant parm ... personally love the mussels and, well, nary a bad meal ... i don't eat wheat or dairy so i cannot speak to the pasta offerings but folks surely do seem to enjoy. support this great little find - and then hope they re-emerge nearby!
We have been looking for an affordable dining location near our home since our favorite restaurant closed. Tutto Fresco is a very "nice" option, I will say that the prices are a little higher than what a Trattoria should be in my opinion, but the portions are large enough to either share or have something to take home. It was a very solid meal. The pasta was well prepared and the sauces were fine. But it wasn't anything that I would say was completely amazing. The ambiance was very nice and the service was very attentive friendly
I will say that I am always a little skeptical of restaurants which allow you to choose your pasta and your sauce rather than having the chef provide the options for you. But this was a very nice meal and a good choice for dinner with my wife and daughter. I would not hesitate to go back, but we will keep looking for a perfect option, especially at the prices ($14/plate)
We always enjoy Tutto Fresco, especially, when they accommodate us after the symphony. We arrived at about 10:30 and they had no problem providing us with a complete dinner. We were never rushed. The food is really good and the wine is a very good value. Our server (we've had him several times before) is very professional and knowledgeable. He makes excellent recommendations and doesn't "hover." The only thing about the restaurant is that it needs some serious renovation - or at least have the floors replaced and the walls painted.
Perfect place for romantic dates. Not stutible for large groups. Went as a larger group had an amazing experience, but I think it is meant more for smaller parties or couples.
We really live this restaurant - great food and delightful service.
Great little neighborhood Italian restaurant with amazing food in a quaint, warm atmosphere. Don't pass this one up.
The food was great, but I felt like I was disturbing my server by being there. I was the first person in the restaurant and I was by myself, yet I say for quite a few minutes before the server even came over. All he said was, "Would you like something to drink". No welcome, no specials, no greeting. Ordering was much the same, and I felt like he really didn't want me there. A couple came in a few minutes after I did, and I heard him giving them much more personable service. In contrast, the server assistant was great, getting me anything I needed and answering my questions about the menu. He at least seemed like he was happy to be there, while my actual server just seemed angry the whole time.
The food was good, but the service makes me not want to return.
We were seated at 5:30 and told our server that we had a show to go to at 7pm (theater was about a 10 min. walk away) We then sat there for 1 hour without food before a person in our party went back to the kitchen to see what was wrong, when the food finally arrived, I immediately asked for the check and we proceeded to gulp down our food. We're talking pasta here!! It doesn't take that long to cook!! Seems like other diners were waiting a long time also. That being said, the food was delicious and the wine was also good. I just wish I had more time to enjoy it and maybe a cup of espresso afterwards. I'm giving this an overall 2 star rating because of the wait but if this is fixed I would give it a 4 star.
Found this place online and went to check it out. My wife liked it immediately ans so did my two children (ages 17 and 24). Food was super fresh and tasty. Owner came out and met with us. Place has been open for 6 years and I would have never stopped there before. Place is a gem and inexpensive. I give the food quality a 10.
The dishes are delicious and outstanding. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu items. Prices are reasonable and a fair portion I may add. My favorite pasta is his seasonal black pasta it is to die for! Dont forget the fried calimari!
Tutto Fresco never disappoints, with classic dishes prepared with freshest ingredients (as the name says) and great care. Attentive, friendly service, in a warm, unfussy atmosphere where you can actually carry on a quiet conversation. And all this quality comes at prices well below those of the big name places downtown. Tutto Fresco's authentic Italian favorites are complemented with a well-chosen list of reasonably-priced wines from Italy, U.S., S. America. A true neighborhood "gem."
We were there prior to the Billy Joel concert. The restaurant was not prepared for the amount of people eating before the concert. Appetizers came over 20 minutes after we ordered, and our entrees came with only a couple of minutes for us to eat them before we had to leave. Food was lukewarm, bread was not replenished, after we had asked for some. Overall, not a good experience.
This was the second time we were there, and it was great! The food is wonderful, and the service was great. I would recommend this to anyone.
Though the name means 'everything fresh' I'm not sure that anything was. Our bread tasted as if it had been frozen and toasted just before we got there. The food which did come in very generous portions was decent but again tasted like it could have been on the stove all day just sitting or possibly microwaved. Not a big winner. But a great value for your money.
The service is great and our server "Sammy" is always wonderful., warm and friendly. He knows exactly what we like to drink and eat. Don't even have to look at the menu. The food is pipping hot out of the kitchen.
Downstairs of the terrific Strawdog Theatre, Tutto Fresco does not disappoint. While eggplant parm can be rather "pedestrian", theirs is well worth a try - HUGE portion, so plan on lunch the next day! ... appetizer of GRILLED octopus is very flavorful and much healthier than the fried variety (also available) - but its SAUCE is worth bottling ... you'll need extra bread to sop it up. I'm particularly fond of their mussels (appetizer turned into my entree) with a garlic/white wine sauce - YUM. nice pasta dishes, always a special, plus a fish special, too. decent wine list but also a selection of "house wines" that'll absolutely do the trick. Seriously, dine here before heading upstairs to see a terrific play at Strawdog ... It's a great dinner-theatre combo night!
Tutto Fresco has the best veggie lasagna in the city. Their fish special is always great, especially with their Vesuvio sauce. The service is outstanding and the wine list is very good at reasonable prices. After being in the same spot for many years, they need to upgrade the decor. A great choice.
This is a neighborhood restaurant that we've been patronizing for several years. The space is not particularly chic, so the restaurant is often overlooked. This time I was delighted to see that it was practically full . . . It deserves support! Outstanding Italian food: home-made pastas, fresh fish, great bread. And friendly, skillful service. We've eaten here as two-somes, four-somes. And once arranged for a group of twelve. All handled beautifully. If you live on the north side of Chicago, this should be on your list!
The first bite says a lot! After my first bite of veal Marsala. I said awesome!. We went mid week; not crowded; enjoyed quiet conversation We will be back
Our waiters were fantastic, and the wine was reasonably priced and delicious. But the food was simply awful. My spaghetti and meatballs tasted like a giant lean cuisine and my fiance's chicken parm - the first one - had breading so soggy it was sopping wet, and was lukewarm on the outside but lava temp inside. A sure sign of microwave. He tried to eat it but the chicken was so tough he gave up and asked for a new one. It came out - 30 minutes later - much the same as the last one. He was so hungry by then that he ate it, after pushing the mushy breading out of the way. I felt bad for the staff because they were all so courteous and nice, but we certainly won't be going back any time soon. Maybe if Gordon Ramsay gives them a visit.
Last Thursday - when "winter" made an early visit with low temps, rain, grey sky's, etc. we decided to venture out and get some great Italian food. Looking to try something different we found Tutto Fescro which had a great review on Yelp and was close by. It was a really great meal, the service was really good and a warm, inviting quiet little place. A super nice change from the many larger Italian restaurants in the area. The personal service comes through.
This is a great little restaurant. I would have expected it to be more crowded on a Saturday night. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is outstanding.
Always good and the food tasty. Service is always right on
This restaurant had very solid reviews on Yelp! so we drove up from Lincoln Park. We were able to park right along Broadway. We were brought to the back room and seated next to a very large table set up for 25 people.
Over the course of our dinner, the back dining room filled up with people who were celebrating. They had drinks first which meant milling about and socializing (not sitting) in the dining room which was pretty much lousy for us as we were seated next to them. They were loud and bumping into us, etc. Not their fault of course. But we should have never been sat in that situation.
Food was good not great. We won't be back, it just wasn't worth the effort and the seating thing was ridiculous; it flat out ruined dinner.
Food is always good and pleasant atmosphere. Service iis very attentive
We were going to the theater nearby (Mary-Arrchie) and were pleased to find street parking convenient for both. I had a very good salad and delicious risotto with spinach-stuffed shrimp. Excellent! My friend enjoyed her pasta dish too.
We had 6:30 reservation and a show starting 8:00. When we got in the restaurant smelled like an old folks home. We were seated right away and given water and bread and oil. We had to ask for balsamic vinaigrette twice and had to tell the waiter that we were ready to order. While ordering I asked the waiter if he could put a rush on the food as we had tickets to a show and a lot of time had already gone past. I don't think we ordered until 7:15. We waited and waited. At 7:45 we had to ask that our food be boxed up as we had theatre tickets. We didn't get our boxed food until 7:55. I don't usually mind waiting at a restaurant, but we were basically ignored. When we got home after the show we warmed up our food, it wasn't even good.
When looking for an Italian restaurant in lakeview last week we came upon this restaurant. What a find!! According to one of our guests who knows his Italian good hr thought it was superb. My eggplant parmasean was incredible as were all the dishes. We will be Back often
First time here. Appetizers were excellent. Main course average and way too salty. I would give this place another try possibly with a different kind of main course. Wait staff attentive and very pleasant. Suggested wine was perfect.
Food is incredible, wait staff friendly, service attentive, nice wine list, and all moderately priced. This is our new go to restaurant!
