About Tutti Matti

Tutti Matti serves traditional, authentic Tuscan cuisine, prepared using only fresh seasonal ingredients.
Everything is made in house, including our fresh breads and pastas. Some dishes are permanent productions of our kitchen — gnudi, pinci, papardelle, tagliatelle. Others are more seasonal, like stuffed zucchini flowers in the summers and polpetta and hearty soups in the winter. From day one, we have served venison, wild boar, fennel pork sausage and we love to produce delectable trays of antipasto, which change seasonally and daily (sometimes even mid‐service!)
Discover a great list of Italian wines, carefully selected to match the flavours and spirit of Tuscan food.
Tutti Matti has been hailed by critics and received both local and national awards, including the prestigious 2009 "L'Eccio D'Oro" for Osteria of the Year (an award previously won by Mario Batali and Alain Ducasse).
Located downtown Toronto, steps from the Theatre / Entertainment districts.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Tutti Matti. We were seated at a quiet table near the partition beside the entrance to provide protection from conversations at other tables so my husband could converse comfortably in spite of a hearing impairment. We ordered several dishes from the menu and shared each one so we could both have a taste of the beautifully prepared food. We also shared a bottle of lovely Italian wine, reasonably priced. The service was well paced and our server was very attentive to our table. Our water glasses were kept full, as we had requested. She was helpful in making our menu selections and took her time in offering us dessert. We especially enjoyed the short ribs and the duck appetizer. The baked turnips were also very tasty. We would happily go to this restaurant again and take friends and/or family with us.

This restaurant never disappoints. The porchetta di maremma and costole di manzo are a must have.

The food looks good on paper and was presented well enough but was quite Bland, and certainly overpriced. To add insult to injury there was a $6 surcharge for for a couple of extra small pieces of bread with our antipasto when we used up the small serving that came with our antipasto, which was insufficient for the Pate on the plate. poultry serving that came with the plate. Service was fine, although I felt sorry for our server having to apologize for the restaurants policy.

went for winterlicious menu. Food was pretty good, as were the portions. Service was quite slow for being one of the 4 tables in the restaurant.

The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. Only one server was visible. Nobody worked the bar and there was nobody in the visible cooking/prep area. The server seated us at a table for 2 along the row of tables that run the wall of the restaurant. The halogen spot lights in the ceiling shine very brightly and directly on guest heads, casting shadows on the face of your dining partners (and your own, I presume!). There is no need for tea lights here. Didn’t even need my phone flashlight to read the menu. Not the warm intimate ambiance i was hoping for. The server said she could dim the lights but she never did. The noise level is low so it was difficult not to listen to the conversation at the next table. Took over 10 minutes for the first service call asking if we wanted drinks. When we asked about corking our unfinished wine, the server was adamant that it was illegal and then the chef came over to say it was certainly allowed. Food was okay but nothing notable and expected more at this price point. The service is a slow and the server prepares the drink order. clearly understaffed. Will not go again.

I've never posted a restaurant review in my life. But this was such a miserable experience, I feel compelled to vent. I am an avid restaurant goer and I can say the waitress who served us at Tutti Matti was the rudest, nastiest and most unpleasant server I've ever had. There's not enough space to list how this person spoke to us and treated us in full detail, but If we had not been with friends, my husband and I would have left the moment she bullied us to give our orders. I dont even remember how the food tasted, I was so upset by how I was treated. I won't ever go back. To the owner, who I'm sure is a great chef, get rid of the miserable young girl who ruined a lovely Saturday night for us.

The food was excellent. The service was exceptional, our waitress was very nice, brought us samples of wine to go with our food, and made us feel welcome. A nice place, and we will be back. Winterlicious is great to try out different restaurants.

The food at Tutti Matti is creative and well prepared. However, it the dishes are costly for what is provided in them. We had the burrata which was excellent and accompanied by a roasted pear. The pear also appeared in the duck confit which we ordered with no other vegetable. Contorni were vastly over priced.

I had the porchetta app and veal cheeks as a main, both were fantastic. This place never disappoints. Service was excellent save getting the bill and paying due to an influx of other patrons at an inopportune time.

We started off with delicious Paper plane cocktail and wine - then dandelion salad with blood orange and hazelnuts, followed by perfectly prepared handmade pumpkin tortelli and osso buco and short ribs - all so amazing! Too full for dessert. Next time!!

Food great. I had the lunch prix fixe which was a great deal and very nice. Plenty of food for me but would not have been enough for a male. Glasses of wine crazy expensive. Bottle better price. We were going to get gift certificates for our young adult kids at Xmas for food only but we realized wine way too expensive for them for an outing. Too bad. So we chose another restaurant for gift cert.

Second evening there....food as good as the first time....which was excellent. But the noise level was so bad that we asked to be moved. And they kindly turned the volume of the music, which is NOT our taste, down so we could actually converse without yelling like the tables near us.

Know that the margins in this business are tight and going to get tighter after the first of the year. But some sound absorbing surfaces might help.

Cheers Joe D.

We had had a great experience at this restaurant three years ago. Pleasant ambiance, delicious food with subtle flavours. We wanted to treat our friends so came back recently, having talked it up. Such a difference. We couldn't hear ourselves talk and the food was far less imaginative and nuanced. It was also overly oily. Disappointing.

This restaurant had a lot of potential but the service was abysmal. The woman waiting on us was unfriendly and unhelpful. We went with the prix fixe menu. We had to choose between three starters. After we ordered the waitress came back and told us they had no tomatoes. Two of three of the available appetizers had tomatoes as a key ingredient: tomato bruchetta and panzanella. I asked her whether there might be another choice since two of three starters for the prix fixe were unavailable. Initially she flat out said no. Then she lectured me that tomatoes aren't in season, to which I suggested they should update their menu then. We didn't come in demanding tomatoes: they were the key ingredient for 2/3 of the options! Eventually she conceded to allow us to have a zucchini salad, which we accepted (and it was very good).

The food was good and they have a lot of potential, but it was so unfriendly that I'm unlikely to go back or recommend it.
