Tutti Matti Cucina Italiana & Pizza -- Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We reserved a table for Surprise birthday party. I've visited this place before and I loved the experience. We discussed which restaurant we were going for a long time and finally picked this one. But it was tragic this time. We went there with birthday gifts and some surprise friends from Japan...we arrived there and saw a paper on the door saying "temporary closed". Why did they allow us to reserve a table if they are closed?!?!
Just ok...incredibly overpriced ($27 for a vegetarian risotto?). Food was good, but for the cost, I'd much rather to go maiella down at the waterfront for an all out great and authentic italian experience. We won't be going back, just because we can get much better bang for our buck at several other places in LIC.
A great variety of choices for your meal, less for your beverages. Delicious pasta dishes, both traditional Italian and less so (some Greek influences as well!). The pizzas look delicious (we didn't indulge on our first visit, but the small open pizza kitchen between the bar seating and the main dining room is a nice, quiet but sincere touch for casual diners). Everything is very reasonably priced (check for 2 very full diners + 1 bottle wine was under $100). We dropped in on Valentines' Day and had a great time. We'll be back!
Date night with my husband, we wanted to try something new. The restaurant is nicely decorated and it's inviting. We had the eggplant appetizer and it was tasty and enough for two. for our meal my husband had the RAVIOLI AL PORCINI and I had the GNOCCHI ALLA SORRENTINA. Both were very tasty. They have a wine and cocktails, as well. The staff is very attentive. It was an overall great experience and will definitely be back.
I've dined at Tutti Matti around 4 times and was excited to quick off my NYE with friends at Tutti. The manager, Rafael, responded promptly to my emails and welcomed me upon my arrival. Amanda, the hostess, and the wait staff were friendly, prompt, hospitable and professional. I look forward to dining here in 2017!
My wife and I chose this restaurant for a Christmas Eve dinner and were not disappointed. The cocktails we had were amazing, as well as the great food. The owner came to our table a number of times to talk with us about the food, and his mother's amazing recipes (which are on the menu!). We will definitely come to this Sicilian restaurant again!
Service was slow but very friendly and kind. Soup was extremely salty and did not use the classic italian pasta appropriate for the soup (pasta e fagioli) - instead used broken small spaghetti. Cured meats tasted a little off - but pizza was terrific and wine was awesome. I would return just for the ambiance and pizza.
This a a great LIC neighborhood place for quality Italian. I've eaten there several times since they reopened as Tutti Matti and every time was excellent. It's one of my go-to places for any occasion -- everybody likes Italian food, and the kind they serve here is great.
Restaurant is located in a street with lots of restaurants, which is nice. Restaurant interior is authentic and nice. Waiter was clearly overworked though (bill says 'Jennifer', but it was a man serving us, so it could not have been Jennifer. Another mistake). Only showed up to say his name and take our order. We wonder why, since we didn't see him for the rest of the evening (food was brought by someone else). He brushed by once, clearly with no intention to stop since he was obviously very busy (or feeling so anyway)..To top it all off he had the audacity to 'reward' himself with a whopping 18% gratuity without giving me the opportunity to choose my own tip. Had I been given the choice it would not have been over 10%.
I think I would have enjoyed my food more if the service wasn't so shockingly bad. From the hostess straight through to the waiter. It seemed like no one was managing the place at all. Everyone seemed either bored or confused as to what their job was.
The hostess sat us with just drink menus. We had to flag someone down for dinner menus. Flag someone for drinks. Flag someone to order ... You get the point.. Right down to asking for the bill. There were only 3 other tables in that night so it was not a matter of being too busy which I would have understood.
Like I said it seemed like there was an absence of management. At one point the music went out and either no one noticed or cared to do anything about it.
All this ruined the experience for us.
We were a party of 8 celebrating a birthday. We had a variety of food from the menu and all was good. Only complaint was the service. For starters, no bread was offered from the beginning, drink order took forever and waiter looked upset like he was having tough day. Overall food was tasty with good portions. This was our second time here and maybe our last.
I really enjoyed the food here. Started with the fritto di mare and the insalata di pomodori. Both very good. For dinner, my friends ordered the gnocchi and lasagna. I had the petto di pollo alla Milanese. The chicken cutlet was huge. For dessert, we shared the Nutella pizza. The food here was delicious and we will definitely be back!
