Have been here a number of times in the past for wine tasting and dinner. Service was excellent as it always has been. Met friends there and they said they would return on their own. Menu varied with plenty of choices for any type of diet. The carpaccio was excellent and the Cioppino had an abundant amount of shellfish. Our friends enjoyed their pasta selections. I would order
the Osso Buco again: the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender with robust seasoning. The only thing that wasn't terrific was our table: we were seated on the lower level, behind the reception desk, across from the bar. The lighting was poor and it was difficult for our friends to read their
menus. I would request another table if we were seated here again.
Arrived early for a pre-concert dinner and sat at the bar, took advantage of happy hour drinks and app prices. Bartender was friendly and accommodating in a low-key manner appropriate to the venue.
Dinner was tasty and our waitress was really nice and helpful with suggestions and descriptions.
Excellent from the beginning and still excellent today. A little pricey, but definitely get your money’s worth.
The octopus appetizer was delicious and tender. The proscuitto and burrata was perfect. My husband had the special of the evening (a special carbonara) and I tried the osso bucco, we were not let down. For dessert, we had the budino and some vanilla bean ice cream for the kids, there were some leftovers only because we saved room for dessert.
The food is delicious, and the menu offerings vary from season to season. They have great pastas and can accommodate gluten sensitivities. The premises itself is not that big, but they make the most out of the little space they have, to allow for proper foot traffic and guest comfort (you don't want your neighbors to be so close that they can overhear your conversation). I love their flourless cake and their seafood pasta (linguini fini -- to die for!).
Our server Phillip was super friendly, Lisa the Manager introduced herself asked if we were enjoying our meal and the brunch was delicious! We started with Oysters which were great then I had the Chicken & Waffles and my Husband had the Filet w/ Eggs and Creamy Polenta.
We will definitely be back.
We made a reservation through Open Table. A couple of days before, Open Table sent an email reminder which I like. I then get a text reminder which asked me to reply to confirm. I responded immediately. Then, I get a phone call from the restaurant. Now this is TOO MUCH. I already replied to the text. The reason I like Open Table is that I don’t have to talk to anyone. So I get annoyed when the restaurant calls, especially when I miss the call and have to call back. Sometimes it’s hours before I have a chance to call and the restaurant has closed. Isn’t replying to the text enough? I dutifully call the restaurant and confirm with a human that we will be there.
After all that, we arrive at the appointed time and had to wait 5 - 10 minutes for them to get our table ready. It was early in the evening and the restaurant was not even ¼ full. What was the big fuss then with the text and voice confirmation and then our table is not ready?
Waiting is one thing, but while we were waiting, the hostess was training someone. Training should not be done in front of guests. First impressions are so important and our first impressions were not positive.
Food was good but not outstanding. My dining companion’s main course came out cold and had to be reheated. Also, the food (appetizers and main courses) were very slow to arrive.
I really wanted to like this restaurant and give it a thumbs up but sadly I have to be honest. We expected better for the price.
I’m afraid we will not be returning.
Service was excellent and the food was delicious! Portions are large and very flavorful. Will definitely visit again!
We used to have our date night here about twice a month. This time was disappointing. They seated us at a table set for 4 people. At 1st glance, my napkin and the table cloth had crusty food on it, and my husband's bread plate and the one next to his were dirty. When I moved my bread plate out of the way, to my horror there was a large thick amount of baked on food on the underside. We told our waitress, who insisted on telling the manager. The manager simply said they've been having trouble with their dishwashers. We weren't looking for compensation, and they certainly didn't offer any. In addition, they weren't ready to tell us the specials or take our order until 30 minutes after they were opened because the kitchen wasn't ready. All in all not a great experience.
I think it's time to revamp the menu. Sorry but I'm not interested in elk chops or sashimi at an Italian restaurant. Otherwise my chicken marsala was tasty, my chocolate torte delicious, husband's roast chick (usually his fave) was dry.
Good food in a relaxed atmosphere. excellent service knowledgable staff
First time there and was a great experience. Friendly staff and very attentive. Will definitely go there again.
Impeccable service, Alex was so attentive and warm. Food was very good, a little pricey but worth it
We ate at Tutti Mangia on Easter Sunday and there were three adults in our party. I definitely recommend you made reservations regardless of what day you go. I especially appreciated the restaurant calling to verify our reservations the day before. This confirmed they received our reservation which was made online.
Although they were busy, the service was perfect and they did not rush us out the door. We never had to ask for our water glasses to be filled - very attentive! We felt welcomed by all the staff we encountered. Our waiter was very considerate, courteous, thoughtful, and accommodating. I could go on, but you get the picture. He made great recommendations for wine and food and the warm bread was delivered while we were looking at the menu. We ordered a full course meal, two appetizers, which we shared, two salads, a glass of wine, our main course, two (sharable) sides, and two desserts. The food was spaced out well to give us enough time to eat the various foods and visit with each other before the next serving of food was delivered to our table. The cost is around the same as any other fine dining restaurant but some may feel it is expensive. Don't let that scare you away; it is definitely worth the cost.
Easter dinner celebrating my son moving back into town from Orange County. Exceptional, fantastic-tasting outstanding quality fresh food with great, friendly service.
Excellent food and service. Brussel sprout salad is a must.
Best place to eat fine dining in the city of Claremont. Even the owner came and greeted us, and the food was excellent
This was the first time we have been disappointed with the food. The soup was flavorless and too salty. The risotto was almost too salty to eat. It will be some time before we dine there again.
Had a business meeting there, the atmosphere was just about right. Had the nightly special which was a center cut swordfish, absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection! I will definitely return for future business dinners!
My husband and I went to dinner at Tutti Mangi just to have a nice night out together. We like the ambiance and food. Services is usually very good.
We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our service was great along with the food as well. Only issue with food was the sea bass was not very flavorful and a bit dry and was pricey, which is to be expected but taste could have been better .
excellent food, great aatmosphere the service was great and the server had a wonderful personality
Food was excellent and service was exceptional. First time there but definitely not my last one.
We usually enjoy coming here a couple times a month for dinner. One of us got the ribeye, never again. We asked for it to be medium rare plus, and it was medium at best, plus extremely fatty. It was disappointing to pay $45 for a mediocre steak plus pay extra for the sides. We did mention that the steak wasn't cooked as requested, but there was no mention of replacing it. If they did replace the steak, then we would have only one of us eating while waiting on the replacement. It took us quite a while to attempt having steak here again, based on a similar experience over a year ago. We will still continue coming here, just not for overpriced steak.
Food and service was excellent. In the tradition of authentic Italian restaurants, The split to pastas in half so we each could half of the pastas we couldn't choose between. Our third diner just wanted spaghetti with beef ragu sauce, which wasn't on the menu. No questions asked, they took his order and he was delighted with his meal.
Visited several times. This time and last time were very disappointing. We arrived 14 minutes before our reservation and hostess seemed a little indignant that we were early. Asked us to wait until our table was ready (even though restaurant half empty). I had requested a table by the window and didn't get one. The empty tables by the window were subsequently filled (by two couples without reservations). With the exception of the guy who brought us water, no one came to serve us until we flagged someone down 30 minutes after being seated. No one told us the specials, offered us a drink or anything. Then our appetizer came half prepared (missing the vegetables) and we had to send it back. My entree was good but the other entree was like an oil slick. Interestingly, we had terrible service but the three tables near us that arrived after us seemed to receive very prompt and attentive service when we didn't (even ate and left before us). This was the second time we have been ignored and the neighboring tables (who were obviously friends with the servers) received outstanding service. Not a good business practice.
I came down from San Francisco to spend the weekend with my daughter, who is going to school locally, and made the reservation well in advance. The food was good: we shared a Cesare salad, my daughter had the Gnoccchi and I had the veal scallopini. The wait staff as attentive, but they must either have lost a chef that day or in some other way suffered mis-management in the kitchen because it took us two hours to get our entree. We did want a slow dinner, to spend more time talking, but found that our wishes were more than fulfilled by the end of the evening. Management was aware of the problem and apologetic, and gave us a slight discount on the total bill. Given the quality of the food, we may give them another shot in the future.
We were in the Claremont area for the evening and had not been to Tutti in a while. We made a reservation (highly recommended) and enjoyed two amazing mushroom pasta dishes for dinner.
Excellent food and good atmosphere for dining. We had a very enjoyable birthday dinner for two. Excellent and knowledgeable staff.
Wonderfully prepared, fabulous food. Exemplary service. Nice atmosphere, especially for a special occasion/date night.
I was in Pomona for a conference and made my second trip to Tutti Mangia. There were three of us and all of our entrees and salads were all excellent. The reason I did not rate the food with a five was because my veal scaloppini was not hot when it was served. To be fair, our server did inquire about our meals promptly, however, I never send food back to the kitchen so my meal was not as enjoyable as it could have been. All of the other meals were excellent and served at the proper temperature. I'll be returning in June and am looking forward to my next visit.
This was our third trip to Tutti Mangia. Though our past two experiences were great (we have not dined there for a couple of years), we were extremely disappointed this time. A restaurant that once served creative, outstanding cuisine served us this time food that was mediocre at best and that certainly did not merit the high price we paid for it (with the exception of the dessert, which was quite good). We are sorry that the quality of the food has deteriorated so much since our last visit. We will not return any time soon.
Visiting colllege kid
Delicious dinner during Parents Weekend at Pomona College. Highly recommend the salmon!
Tutti Mangia is the shining star of the Claremont area. All of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to your needs. Staff turnover is low, with many of them being there for years (including Chef Jose) which is nice, if you become a regular diner. Food is consistently good quality and well presented. Well done to all!
We enjoyed a wonderfu dinner, and our server was excellent!
Meal and service was excellent, but tables are too close together and it was extremely loud.
The food here is always creative and excellent. I had an elk dish that was superb.
Was at Tutti Mangia for our Valentines Dinner. Service was great as was the atmosphere. My food arrived a bit cold for this price point however. Next year: Flemings!
Took the wife for an early Valentines Day dinner. She had the lasagna and I had the Chef Special Steak. Both were excellent, and the waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. We love this place
