Tutti Mangia Ratings and Reviews
This was our third trip to Tutti Mangia. Though our past two experiences were great (we have not dined there for a couple of years), we were extremely disappointed this time. A restaurant that once served creative, outstanding cuisine served us this time food that was mediocre at best and that certainly did not merit the high price we paid for it (with the exception of the dessert, which was quite good). We are sorry that the quality of the food has deteriorated so much since our last visit. We will not return any time soon.
Tutti Mangia is the shining star of the Claremont area. All of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to your needs. Staff turnover is low, with many of them being there for years (including Chef Jose) which is nice, if you become a regular diner. Food is consistently good quality and well presented. Well done to all!
The food is good. Menu is broad, weighted to meat over fish. Service is fine, can be challenged at peak hour. What makes this place a standout is the wine list, which is copious yet has some of the best values I’ve seen. If you want to drink good wines, say 88-91 on the Wine Spectator scale, but not be charged an arm and a leg, this is the place!
45 minutes after the appetizers were eaten before we say the first entrees. One entree arrive 10 minutes after Gus other’s. Pasta was gluey, seemed to have been under a heat lamp for a very long time and, to be honest, just wasn’t very tasty. Desserts were good. The bill was very high, considering the long wait for good and gluey pasta. We didn’t have any wine or drinks and even do, the bill was high
Went to a nice dinner. Food was good, but the fish special was dry and lacking flavor. The service was a bit off - waiters handing things over the table vs. serving appropriately. The table was in a corner by a railing, even though we had a reservation. Food came out separate vs. all at the same time. Just seemed off vs. what I was expecting for the price.
Service was very good, and the food is usually very good here. However, even though they had just opened, and very few people were there, it took over a half hour to get our food. One of us got the chicken arrosta which was piping hot, however, the scallopine for the other one of us must have been sitting waiting on the chicken, and it was barely warm, disappointing. I'm sure we could have sent it back to be reheated, but it's not fun to wait for your food while the other person is eating.
I loved this place the first time I went . I noticed that everyone else was bringing their own bottles. I asked the waiter, he said it was allowed . A few weeks later I brought in two bottles... I was charged 50 dollars for corking fee ... this is absolutely ridiculous. And to top it they charged me 26 dollars for spaghetti and meatballs for a 7 year old when I asked for a child’s plate!
And off course the 39 once steak full of fat.
I’m very disappointed and would not be back . There are other better places .
Tutti Mangia is a magnificent restaurant. Nestled in downtown Claremont there is plenty of shops to browse and walk off a excellent meal. Food is incredible and decadent. Service is the best I've had anywhere. I'd highly recommend Tutti Mangia for a fine dining experience.
Really good food! Pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. The only thing I would say is that the waiter did not know much about the alcohol selection which I felt he should have known more given the prices. I would suggest better staff training on the overall menu.
