About Tuscarora Mill
Tuscarora Mill, the cornerstone of Market Station, has been serving fine food & wine to its guests since 1985. Originally an operating grain mill, Tuscarora Mill has maintained the rustic interior & charm of the mill. Chef Patrick Dinh’s seasonal menus use the freshest of local produce. Signature dishes include Sesame Roasted Salmon, Roasted Lamb Chops & Portuguese-style Rockfish. To compliment the menu, Tuscarora Mill has an impressive wine list, winner of the Wine Spectacular Award of Excellence for the past 10 years. The in-house bakery, SouthStreet Under, prepares savory breads & decadent desserts daily. Affectionately known to the locals as Tuskie’s, this finer eatery also sports a relaxing bar, serving 22 beers on tap & a café menu. Tuscarora Mill Ratings and Reviews
I don't know well enough to give all the individual recommendations it deserves. But the long -time chef Dinh is excellent. We live an hour away so don't often frequent for dinner. Our selections were the beef short rib, crab cakes and flank steak and we all were satisfied. Menu is varied with something for everyone. Wine list adequate not spectacular.
We were there during cold spell but I was absolutely freezing, even with Uggs on and 2 sweaters due to draft from entrance. And there were many tables every closer to door. Also, no elevator and restaurant is 1 floor above street, parking lot, not easy for those less mobile. Our server was a little unusual, very brusque. When he didn't bring all the leftovers as requested, he just said, "I didn't hear you." No apology at all. He did mention he likes animals better than people...and I believe him! I would request another server when we go again.
Whenever my family has a special occasion we want to celebrate, we go to Tuscarora Mill. The food is fantastic (but pricey), the atmosphere is lovely, the staff (waiters, bar tenders, hostess, etc.) are very professional and friendly.
If you want a place to go to that is beyond expectations, romantic, quite but cozy, I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had not been to Tuscarora Mill in several years, and it was certainly better than ever. The appetizers were delectable- Fried Green Tomatoes and Oysters with Spinach. They were both brought to the table hot and they looked wonderful and tasted even better. I had the Chicken Tortilla Soup which was slightly spicy and a nice melding of Mexican flavors. Our main courses arrived promptly and demonstrated the versatility of the kitchen. I had the Shrimp and Grits which was prepared expertly. We also had the fish tacos which were beautifully prepared and flavorful and the meatloaf which was hearty and tasty. We shared two desserts. While we did not order it, we took note that they offer a $7.95 lunch entree each day and, alas, we did order t a mini-dessert for $5 which makes dining out at this top notch restaurant even more affordable. Service was attentive and professional and yet personal. We loved our lunch and will return.
I took my office staff for our “holiday”party in January. We were seated earlier than our reservation and had great service. We ordered several appetizers, my favorite was the ahi tuna and the beef fondue! Lunch was delicious and it was hard to choose because there were many great options. Only suggestion would be to have a gluten free cracker option when serving bread to the table. I was offered a gf bun for an additional charge.
Dining at Tuskie's doesn't disappoint--very friendly, attentive (but not too...) service. Regular menu options are solid; always some intriguing specials as well. Local sourcing, great preparation--always worth a dinner date or special occasion, but not so expensive that you can't enjoy for no special reason at all! I've not found better in or near Leesburg.
IMO, Tuskies is the best restaurant in Leesburg, if not all of Loudoun County. My husband and I have been dining here for over 20 years. We have NEVER had a bad meal. The menu is inventive yet classic dishes (with a twist) are also featured. The hosting staff are friendly and accommodating; the sommelier is extremely knowledgeable and fun to discuss with him the various attributes of different wines, and the service staff - impeccable. This is why we continue to go back as often as we do. It is our upscale version of "cheers", where everybody knows your name! Kudos to this fine restaurant.
Have been to Tuskies several tines for lunch but first time for dinner won't be the last! Sat at wobderful table bear the fireplace perfect setting on a cold winter night. Service was attentive but not obtrusive, fried oyster app was great , entree's were cooked to perfection lamb shank tender enough to cut with a fork and tenderloin & scallops was tasty and prepared. Great evening
We went on Christmas Eve and waited 30 minutes to be seated—we did have a reservation. We were seated in the room with many large family groups with young children—noise level was very high. Also would have liked to have known beforehand that dinner was prix fixe—understandable on holiday night but this was not posted on the website.
Food and server were very good.
I have been eating at Tuskies for over 30 years. My meal on Christmas Eve was probably the worst they have ever served me. My wife and I, and our son and his girl were extremely disappointed. To begin with, we were not informed that this would, essentially, be a fixed menu, with just a few options from which to order. But, so be it, anything we generally order from Tuskies would be good. I ordered a salad, the prime rib, and vanilla ice cream for dessert. The menu did not say the salad would come with goat cheese (which I do not like). Of course they covered it with goat cheese. When I informed our server, he, of course replaced the salad, saying that it was not supposed to come with any cheese on it. So, kitchen screw up number one. I ordered my prime rib to come medium. It was well done. Kitchen screw up number two. The sides were to be a squash medley and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were fine, however, the squash medley turned out to be brussel sprouts (a vegetable for which I do not care) and mushrooms. Another kitchen screw up. As I said, I ordered the vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was the smallest scoop of ice cream I have ever seen. In my opinion, a meal that cost us over $300 should have been better. The highlight of the meal was the server, Ryan, who did a super job, and did his best to make this a nice evening for us. Overall, however, a very disappointing experience. Fortunately for Tuskies, I have enough prior good experiences there to overlook this "bump" in the road. However, if this was my first time there, it probably would have been my last. I hope this bit of constructive criticism is taken in its proper perspective, and is used to prevent a similar bad experience for someone else.
We went to Tuskies to celebrate an early Christmas dinner with an out of town guest and instead of our usual stellar meal, were very disappointed with our entrees. To their credit, they apologized and made it right but still was troubling since Tuskies has always been very consistent over the years. Hopefully this was just a bad night for kitchen because competition is very stiff in restaurant business and they can't afford to rest on their reputation.
