Tuscany - Wheeling Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had a late dinner then celebrated New Years Eve at Tuscany at a table on the bar area. The place was jumping and there was a great band providing entertainment. We started out with a glass of chianti. For an appetizer we ordered thinly sliced and marinated beets(bietolli) which came with a small amount of salad and small tomatoes and flatbreads. For the entree we each had fettuccine marinara which was great. Complimentary champagne, noise makers and hats were provided to celebrate at the stroke of midnight. It was a wonderful moment seeing all of the people enjoying themselves and celebrating 2018. We have never had a bad meal at Tuscany in Wheeling and we go there on a regular basis. It truly is a neighborhood gem!
We went on. Ew Years Eve. That was a little loud. And they were busy so things were running behind. Overall though, excellent! The food was great. And we were very pleased. We will be returning and next time with our kids. Highly recommend experiencing it for yourself.
We dined at Tuscany on New Year's Eve for an early dinner. The restaurant was packed as it is every holiday but they managed the patrons well. They decorated both tastefully and fun and they had live music which added to the ambiance of this upscale restaurant. We ordered caesar salad which was large but a little lacking in taste on this occasion. We tried not to fill up too much on the crusty bread with roasted garlic mixed at the table but it was difficult. Our entrees of staples, eggplant parmesan and veal scallopini were outstanding and were accompanied with perfectly cooked pasta. We didn't leave any room for dessert but saw some beautiful looking pastries sail by us and have sampled the delicious items previously. We are return customers.
Dined on New Year's Eve. Normally our experience at Tuscany has been great.
This experience on New Year's Eve was not so great. We felt that we were rushed through dinner; seemed as if staff was told to move quickly because table turnover was of utmost importance. Hopefully this can be attributed to the holiday but for the prices charged for food and drink at Tuscany one shouldn't be made to feel like we were on a table clock to finish our meal.
Food was great but I do have a complaint, our waiter said the veal parmigiana was a special an when I inquired why wasn't it listed on the special menu he just said oh its not but it is a special, when I got the bill it was a special alright to the tune of $43.00 which to me was very deceiving on his part , if I had known the price I would not have ordered this and also why is it stated as a special when it was more then half the items on the menu and the special menu to boot. I have eaten at this place many times but this act would have me second guessing next time ,as I an my guest thought this was very underhanded.
Tuscany has always provided a quality meal. Always love to see what is being offered on their "specials". This is a great place for good food, wine and dessert. The wait staff are attentive, courteous and respectful of your time. I have had business meeting lunches in past years, I'm retired now but will drive 20+ miles to enjoy a great lunch with friends.
Most of the dinners were very good, but the Risotto with Pulled Braised Short Ribs left a lot to be desired. It was the most unappealing bowl of slop that I have ever encountered in my many years of eating risotto. The consistency was that of watery oatmeal with a clump of short ribs thrown on top. To make matters worse, the price was $30, for something that was worth far less. Shame on me for not sending it back to the kitchen, but I didn't want to take the time to wait for another dish. Mr. Stefani should be embarrassed to offer such a dish at his restaurant. I am sure he would find the dish equally unappealing.
I am a frequent flyer here and love the place. The waiters are always top-notch and the food is always fantastic. One thing that annoyed us this time was that we arrived a few minutes early for our reservation (7:18 for a 7:30 reservation). The floor manager was at the hostess booth and said to me rather curtly "its going to be more like 7:30" when I gave him the name for our reservation; then he simply walked away. We then noticed that they began to seat people that "checked in" after us. I went up to the hostess and inquired - she asked for my name and when I gave it her eyes widened. She grabbed two menus and sat us immediately. Thanks floor manager...
I have counted on Tuscany for a long time. Excellent food and service, although it does get noisy and they have a tendency to seat customers on top of each other at busy times. Large groups seem to get stuffed into small spaces, which causes many, including me, to be rubbing shoulders with the customers seated at the adjoining table. The food and service definitely make the close quarters tolerable, and the people next to me didn't take too much of my dessert.
My wife and I had bar service for dinner. The bartender was cordial and knew the menu items thoroughly and he also whipped up two great martinis for starters. There were 3 types of bread in a basket and tasty olive oil for dipping. We shared a margherita pizza which was thin crust and very good. We had a nice time talking with others at the bar. This was one of many times at Tuscany and we've never had a bad meal! Put Tuscany on your restaurant bucket list!
The waiter was friendly and helpful in choosing our lunch. I requested the french fries to be hot and they were along with the wonderful breaded chicken sandwich. My friend ordered a pasta dish that she could not stop commenting on how wonderful the flavor was. I definitely will be returning.
