Tuscany - Wheeling Ratings and Reviews
The waiter was friendly and helpful in choosing our lunch. I requested the french fries to be hot and they were along with the wonderful breaded chicken sandwich. My friend ordered a pasta dish that she could not stop commenting on how wonderful the flavor was. I definitely will be returning.
The waiter rushed us from minute one. I was still eating my appetizer when main course arrived. Before we finished main course he was asking what we wanted for desert. I had to ask him to slow down! He was wound up and ruined the meal. Then he brought the check w/o asking if we wanted anything else. We've been loyal customers x years, doubt we will return.
Must go again to continue eating the seasonal menu. Food is fabulous and large quantities. Anchovies are placed on top of Caesar salad - not incorporated in dressing - beware. Roasted garlic bulb smashed in olive oil and great bread as a complimentary starter. Really a lovely experience!
Shame on you, Tuscany! Even though it was Weds and dinners were half price, we were required to buy a drink. No salads. My entree was advertised as risotto with short ribs. What a got was (delicious) risotto with about a tablespoon of gravy and a couple of shreds of cut up meat. When I mentioned this to the waiter I was told there would be a $4 charge for more meat.
My husband's Italian sausage didn't taste Italian, and what was supposed to be risotto side dish tasted like grits or cream of wheat. I tasted it. It was awful!
Sorry to say - we won't be back. Even at half price it was a ripoff. The best thing I had was the drink.
I love garlic, so my dinner started off very well when the waiter brought us a whole head of roasted garlic with our bread. We followed with delicious calamari and mozzarella with prosciutto, also favorites. Their red sauce was flavorful and pasta tasted fresh. Finished with another favorite- tiramisu. Everything was delightful and nothing disappointing. It’s a little noisy but many private rooms if you’re bringing a group.
Very nicely decorated restaurant, open kitchen.
The waiters are better dressed than the customers. I know that nobody dresses anymore, but Wheeling a western suburb, not rural. Management may want to suggest -- not require -- jackets for gentlemen. That may be a hopeless errand.
Very disappointed in the quality of the food. My wife had seafood pasta that was bland. Also the shrimp and scallops were over cooked. My eggplant parmesan was just okay. I have definitely had better. When we mentioned this to the manager he tried to defend his staff and we felt that he didn't really want to hear any complaints.
We ordered 2 blackened salmon entrees and 1 risotto with short ribs entree. The risotto was excellent. The blacked salmon was dry and mediocre. The mash potatoes were dry as well. We asked for the check. 30 minutes later we were finally able to leave. Part of the problem was 10 minutes after we asked for the check, we were told that there was a complimentary pasta dish for each entree. That delayed our departure. I would suggest that as great as the complimentary pasta is, it should be offered when dinner is ordered, not 10 minutes after we asked for the check. Perhaps our server was new. But the slow service and the mediocre salmon entrees/ mash potatoes make it highly unlikely that we will be back any time soon. This is a shame because we live about 5 minutes away in Villas North.
Have eaten here before and at one time this was one of my first choice locations. I ordered ocotopus salad and it came out to Chared. Had more of burnt flavor. My side dish with the brussel sprouts came out the same. I pealed back the outer layer on the brussel sprouts and ate them. Now just sprouts with no flavor.?Not sure if this char is supposed to be a new trendy taste? Not for me at all. Why not cook with just good seasoning? I will certainly ask more questions if I go back again. After thinking about it I should have sent back both burnt items.
Our waiter was awful. The 1st thing he told us was that he has been a waiter for 49 years in the suburbs as well as restaurants in Chicago. If we asked a question, he acted like he couldn't be bothered and started to write the menu item down as if we ordered it rather than asking about it. When the bill came there was an $11 charge for liquor that we hadn't ordered. When we brought it to his attention, he immediately said "they" mistake as if he knew it was on the bill. His tip was zero!!
The beet and goat salad was great, but I ordered grilled shrimp and vegetables and it was just ok. The shrimp were a bit over grilled and the meal was very pricey for the amount of shrimp and vegetables. Our waiter was very nice and the atmosphere is nice, but overall was expensive for what we ordered.
