Originally opened in 2010 as the first authentic Artisan Italian restaurant in Salem, NH, Tuscan Kitchen is now one of the most beloved restaurants in New England. Founder Joe Faro, the son of Sicilian immigrants, had the vision to share his love for Italian heritage with his guests. Tuscan Kitchen has locations in Salem, New Hampshire, Burlington and Boston, Massachusetts.

    Great food and service - we really enjoyed the salads, entrees and desserts and our waitress Janelle was very attentive and friendly. A very nice night out with our friends who raved about everything. We look forward to coming back.

    This was our first, and probably our last visit. While the food was alright, there are better Italian places more local to me. The prices are steep for mediocre food. The service seemed better for other tables but our waiter was rude and inflexible. We had given a gentle reminder that we had ordered another round of drinks in which the server replied “I only have 2 hands”. Additionally when we asked to have our checked split, he replied with “you should have asked earlier, I’m not going to do that”. As a past server in the food and customer service industry I was appalled by his behavior and responses.

    We ended up sitting at bar. Paul and Jessica were fantastic. We started with signature drinks the appetizer then finished with salad and meatballs. Everything was delicious and bartenders couldn’t have been nicer. Will definitely be back.

    I had not been at Tuscan Kitchen in a few years. I remember loving the Bolognese. We started with splitting a caesar salad which was good. The Bolognese was not how I remembered. It didn’t have a lot of flavor. It was just okay. The serving size was small compared to other restaurants. We split the chocolate molten cake for dessert which was good. Our server was very good and attentive.

    It was Mother's day an the restaurant was clearly not equipped to handle the volume. Our round of drinks came after 50 minutes of waiting, the food 90 minutes into our visit, the waiter forgot to bring butter when we requested it, and we were served cold, practically raw broccolini. A dinner costing 450 bucks should not have that many hiccups. I want to like the Tuscan Kitchen, but I leave every time with empty pockets and indigestion.

    We had a really terrible waiter; however when we complained to management they were prompt in their response to the situation. The salmon was pretty plain and would not recommend, but the sea bass and filet were delicious. We ended the night with zeppoli, would absolutely NOT recommend getting them. Unless we got a bad batch, they were very sour tasting and left a horrible taste in the mouth. Not something we would have expected from a dessert.

    One of our orders came out wrong, which happens; however, the steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium to well. The biggest issue was the condition of the restrooms - they were trashed. Felt like we were at a fast food restaurant when we were in the restroom.

    We’ve been dining at Tuscan Kitchen for years but something has really changed. We won’t be back. It was Mother’s Day and we brought our very elderly mom out for a special dinner. The music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other, the service was below terrible including the long wait for the food after ordering. There was a long wait for everything — even the check which was a ridiculous amount given the terrible service and food. There was no compensation offered by the manager.
