Tuscan Bistro Bar Ratings and Reviews
Unbelievable. Our entire order was wrong. My food was never even put in. Everyone got their food at different times. Ginger ale was flat TWICE. We were only a table of 9. Our server was incompetent and never refilled our drinks or returned to check on things. It was my moms birthday and we didn’t even get to eat with her. There were 3! Tables! And the guys like “sorry my fault I’m bad at this”. Are you joking? So unprofessional. Manager was spoken to and he just took a few things off our bill. Said there was “no excuse” but it was not sincere at all and I was fuming. My family had to go to the airport. I didn’t even want my forgotten meal at this point. He gave me the meal 15 minutes after everyone left and it was ice cold. We ordered pizza, soups and salads. No excuse to take that long. I will never be returning or recommending this place.
Our reservation was honored on time. The service was top notch. And, the BOGO ribs were excellent. One of our party members ordered salmon which was very good. We did have to ask for bread when we saw others receiving it. Waitress complied and was excellent.
Waitress seemed in a rush. My mom asked for dressing for her salad and she brought back lemons. Wasn't very nice. And the food was very bland & tasteless. The Caesar salad I had was the worst one I've ever had. Tasted very sweet & definitely NOT what I Caesar salad is supposed to taste like. We ordered 3 other salads that were ok & the zucchini appetizer was good.
We went to dinner on a week night with another couple. Our waitress was very attentive and we started with drinks and two appetizers to share. The margaritas were quite sour but we enjoyed them. The rice balls and zucchini fritti were excellent. Our entrees (burgers, fish tacos & wedge salad) were cooked well and everyone was happy with what they ordered. We will definitely return to try other options!
The room was very cold and very loud. The food was good but I didn't feel like it was anything special. It was just an easy place to go that could accommodate our large party. I would definitely go there again but it would not be a top pick for a special occasion. It is very much like a chain restaurant feel.
I took my mom here for dinner. It was both of our first time at Tuscan Bistro Bar. Food was fair at best. They were out of the bang bang shrimp app so we opted for the Thai shrimp app- which was over-cooked. Our server gave us a complimentary dessert to make up for it. However, the apple crisp was very bland so we didn't finish it. We both ordered pizza for dinner which was good. The overall restaurant was appears to be very clean (including the bathroom). The food is definitely not worth the price. We will not be returning.
The scarpariello wings never fail me. They are unique to this restaurant and delicious. The dinners were a great value but not as authentic as other places in town. The pasta was a little over cooked. The sauces were a little heavy. This is a good place more for happy hour menu or appetizers and drinks. The decor is very nice and comfortable and service is fantastic.
Everything was great! Our server was amazing and very fast and attentive! He brought refills out quickly and put our food in right away. All the food we ordered was hot and delicious. We even ordered something not on the menu that evening but it was still made for us! Overall, a great experience.
We were a party of 10- 6 adults and 4 children aged 2-5. We had an awful experience with service from start to finish, from a very long wait to order, things coming out wrong, not coming out at all, lack of utensils, and no wait staff around when you wanted to correct issues. We had a waiter and waitress in training. She was clueless about the menu and at times was handling our orders without the "experienced" waiter present. It was a disaster from the moment we sat down. My Dad flagged down a woman manager and told her about our experience. She did nothing to rectify the situation and never came back. The bill came and it had automatic 20% gratuity added. I was unwilling to pay 20% for really awful service, so I went to speak to a manager. The male manager was the most disrespectful person I've encountered. He didn't care about why I was upset and kept rudely stating 20% on parties of 8-plus is company policy and he wasn't going to go against it. It didn't matter that we were only 6 adults and 4 small children, it's company policy and he wasn't going to examine why I was requesting not to pay 20%. (Their website-company policy is 18%, so why I was charged 20% isn't company policy to begin with). After a few rounds of back and forth with him making me feel like an inconvenience for bothering him, I said fine, charge me. He then said "no it's fine, I'll do it, I'll do it" like he was doing me the greatest favor in the world but begrudgingly. I had a coupon and he looked at it and said snidely "So I guess you want me to take this as well?" One thing had nothing to do with the other. My issue was with a gratuity, which last time I checked was discretionary and for good service. The coupon was $5 off a bill of $25-plus. My bill was $200. Also, they nickel and dime everything. Soup instead of salad, upcharge. Dish over veggies instead of pasta, upcharge. You want your drink "on the rocks," an extra dollar for ICE! Very disappointing experience.
Was seriously and sadly the worst dining experience ever. We were a party of seven for my daughter's birthday and we had the rudest waitress ever. From her disgust with us when we were ordering things they didn't have (she had given us last week' specials menu) to her total disregard for anything we asked for ( a soda refill, a spoon for spaghetti) she huffed and puffed and rolled her eyes at us. When they delivered the wrong order to my dad and he politely told her it was incorrect, she snatched the order and muttered "These people" loud enough for even the next table to overhear. It took forever to receive the correct meal. When we finished, she slammed some boxes on the table and asked us if we were through. We asked for the dessert menu because it was our daughter's birthday and her level of exasperation was obvious. She slammed the menus and for me it was the last straw. I quietly found a manager, explained the situation, and asked that there not be a scene as it was a celebration and we were trying hard not to have it ruined . He was polite...but the same waitress never returned with out desserts...at this point, the dining room was practically empty...when she finally returned with the ice cream, we questioned why she had such an attitude with us. Again, a defiant, nasty "who me?" I am so sorry it came across this way...another 20 minutes to get the bill...now totally being spiteful!!! I will not return. How sad that she was allowed to continue her behavior toward us even after a manager was informed. The last table commented how mean she was as we left. An epic disgrace...like nothing I've ever seen!
I simply could not recommend anything about this restaurant. The ambiance is more that of a barn than an inviting eatery. The service was abominable. The food was passable, at best. No, nothing to recommend it whatsoever.
The service: to set the stage, the restaurant was less than 20% full - that should have warned us. The server was unskilled and inattentive. Never got nor offered bread; every other table did, and yes, we all ordered full meals. One of the entrees was wrong - chicken parm instead of eggplant parm. Never a sorry, just "I'll have them remake it" and then over 20 minutes until we saw the waitress again (at our table). Never asked if we wanted refills or additional drinks. Never checked on us just in general.
The food: mostly tasteless. One of our party who ordered chicken said it would have been better at a NYC automat. The marinara was like watered down tomato sauce, absent any seasoning. The eggplant parm (when finally received, after everyone else had finished eating) was just okay. The Italian Mac and Cheese was . . . uninspiring of comment. The Sangria (red) was lousy.
We went for dinner and drinks... Our waiter was MIA most of the time, charges for ice (on the rocks) is insane, drink charges were higher than most restaurants in the area. We met up with friends and the dj who was playing brought in a crowd of people that were rude, loud and not friendly, not a crowd that a local Toms River restaurant would expect. For these reasons, we will NOT come back to Tuscan house.
Though we made a reservation on OpenTable, we had a ten minute wait before they could ready a table for us. The restaurant seems to be advertised as refined Italian dining, but it was a lower quality food joint crossed with a dance club. The hostesses looked like they were dressed to work at a convenience store. The bread strips were quite good; very tasty and hot. The salad was brown and wilted; it seemed like we got the last bits in the bottom of the bag. The fried ravioli was okay. We also had the "downtown chicken," which was overwhelmed with too many toppings and set upon a bed of cheap tasting spaghetti. The spaghetti sauce was poor; watery and not flavorful. But the server was very nice.
