Attractive space, excellent food, generous portions
Some of the best Turkish food in Chicago! I highly recommend Turquoise, and I also recommend you go all out and order lots of dishes (and, of course, some kahve at the end).
Food is always good but ambience is tough due to close tables and noise level.
Impromptu date night. Ordered 2 dishes - one dish was wrong, but my girlfriend ate it anyway. The other dish was so salty, I could barely eat it, brought it home for leftovers and ended up throwing it out. Not a fun experience for a date night. Dropped $60 for a subpar experience.
We have gone to Turquoise many times and never does it disappoint. Great food, service and ambiance make it a triple threat!!!!
This neighborhood gem never disappoints. The food is always excellent. This authentic Turkish spot offers many traditional Turkish food and drink options. Everything I've had there has been delicious and in keeping. The service is always good and the restaurant is very conducive to conversation.
After having seen this restaurant on Check, Please, we were pretty excited to try it out.
The meal started out well enough. We ordered a couple of drinks from the well-stocked bar and they brought out a delicious garlic and yogurt spread, along with fresh, home-made bread. We ordered fried calamari and falafel as appetizers. The calamari, although well fried, were tough and chewy. The falafel were pasty on the inside. I had the Sultan's Delight, which was supposed to be slow-braised lamb shank and puréed eggplant. They substituted another cut of lamb, which was dry and had not been cooked long enough to be tender. The eggplant purée was tasty, but had an overwhelming smoky flavor.
My husband ordered the Turquoise Mix Grill Kebab, which was dry and not all that flavorful.
The service was attentive, but not amazing.
All in all, the visit was disappointing. I wouldn't say the place was bad, but it wasn't great either.
Always great to be back, my favorite restaurant in Chicago
My favorite neighborhood restaurant. Love everything about it.
Awesome food, quaint place.
Turquoise is a comfortable small restaurant. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The menu is diverse and interesting. We had the risotto and the manta and both dishes were excellent. We are looking forward to returning soon for more great food and great service.
I love this place and especially love the Chicken Kabob and homemade bread. Service and food are excellent!
Made a reservation and got a table next to the entrance, meaning any time anyone entered or exited the door, me and my date were freezing. Food got cold quick from the cold draft but was still good. Any table would have been better. Feels like i made a reservation to inconvenience myself.
The worst customer service ever! We had to wait almost 2 hour's for our food and then we got the wrong one ( our order was misplaced). I will never go there again
After seeing Turquoise on Check, Please!, my boyfriend and I decided to try it for Valentine's Day. We didn't know if they have a special V Day menu until a day before, but I trusted what they'd serve based on their regular menu. The food choices were wonderful and tasty, and the fixed price was quite reasonable. They even threw in a glass of pink champagne to make it more festive. I have to say, though, that the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed, and service was spotty. The tables were also very packed together, probably to optimize the number of people they could serve on V Day, and that was giving waitstaff and diners problems. On a regular evening, I imagine things would be calmer.
this restaurant is and has been a favorite. the menu is varied with enough options to make it interesting. the servers are very friendly and helpful/ yje wine list is short but interesting
we were seated downstairs, we would not recommend sitting downstairs due to lack o any atmosphere.
The bread served at the begiining of the meal was delicious. Some of our party were gluten free and the menu was incorrect in noting the gluten free items; however, the waiter was very accommodating and was able to verify the items that were gluten free for our party. It was a very nice meal and our dessert was also delicious.
Outstanding food with a great and different wine list. Service was extremely cordial.
Excellent food and service. Look forward to going back. A place not to be missed.
Loved my Short Ribs, super tender and flavorful! Seafood salad was fresh. Service was perfect. Every one of us loved their meal.
I was looking for a restaurant that served Turkish food to satisfy a cultural cravings. Turquoise Cafe is wonderful - great food, attentive service. Can’t wait to return.
The restaurant was very busy when we arrived and they were unprepared for us, we were eventually seated, but the table was not set and we actually had to ask for napkins after our meal arrived. It took over an hour to get our appetizer and our entree arrived within five minutes of getting our appetizer. They also forgot some of the order. They were clearly insufficiently staffed for the demand and should not have accepted the reservation.
Enjoyable all the way around, Food, Drink and service…Oh and the desserts, Wow!
The new owner is really nice
He welcomed us and spent time with is at the table!
The service was impeccable, everyone was friendly and the atmosphere very cosy.
Food was good and pretty authentic!
Definitely will be back there ;)
Wonderful meals. Lamb shoulder and Chicken Kebab. Huge portions. The zucchini pancakes were a real treat. Definitely will be back.
Food was great. Service was pretty bad. Waitress messed up my sisters order, never apologized. Informed us her actual order would take another 15 minutes. It took at least 20. We were all done by the time here came. Again, no apology. Took us 45 minutes to receive a cheesecake dessert order. No apology for the delay either. Were there for over three hours simply because of slow and unapologetic service.
The food was excellent and authentically Turkish, service and hospitality was tremendous as well.
Great food, great service, prices are fair, Ambience is nice it can be a little bit to high, I would suggest to lower the lightning level.
We try to dine at Turquoise’s when we visit our daughter at Roscoe Village. We love the food and always something interesting and delicious. They do Mediterranean very well.
I have been here before for lunch. I feel it was a better experience and definitely better value! They were rather crowded for dinner and so service was not as good. Excellent wine from the special wine list.
Good was average, at best. It felt like any common chain restaurant. The table next to us, who were seated at least five minutes before us, ordered salads. But, we had completed our dining when their food finally arrived. Management doesn't seem to care and offered nothing, she even smirked at them when they said something.
TC has become one of our go-to restaurants. Fantastic Turkish food! The owner-chef is excellent. Try the salt-encrusted fish (they light it on fire for 2-3 minutes). It's from the Bream family of fish - flaky white; some small bones.
Turquoise has a wide variety of entrees. The three I tried wee delicious. The prices were very reasonable.
I haven't had a dish here I didn't like. Tonight we went simple with a couple appetizers and a couple desserts. All wonderful.
Just a great place. Especially great deal for lunch
Turquoise was a terrific find. Read the menu carefully, look for items that seem interesting. Leave your comfort zone and enjoy amazing flavors in well-prepared food. The servers are experienced in menu navigation. The house bread is amazing as is the spread served with it.
BE CAREFUL...you could eat all the bread and miss the appetizers and main courses. My white fish was excellent and the accompanying bed of deliciousness the fish rested on would make me want to learn to cook. Dessert was a stretch but we made the sacrifice.
Get over there...avoid bread binging...and have a great meal in a lovely room.
Our server was great, very efficient. But the steak I ordered well done was really medium with lots of pink. I think they try to rush people in and out. My party of 5, which included 2 out of state friends, was asked to leave a little over a hour of being there. Apparently we didn't order enough drinks or spend enough money to warrant a little visit at our table after we were done eating. I won't return for this reason.
The best Turkish restaurant in town. Hunkar beyendi, isli patlican sarmasi, lahmacun and mujver were great!
The food is excellent - make sure to get the hummus. Not too noisy - can definitely hear people in a group as long as you go early. The only issue is that it's a small space and very popular, so if you're sitting close to door, as we were with a group, you will be blasted with cold air during the winter. Our server was great.
