Turner's Seafood - Salem Ratings and Reviews
Turner’s is a nice spot with a great vibe. It has with two wood burning fireplaces, two bars and a community table. The seating is interesting with hightops and low tops along with booths and bars. I’ve never been much of a seafood person but I’ve gotten into it at Turner’s because it’s fresh and I haven’t had anything that tasted fishy. The guy who tends bar is great, I don’t usually put stock in the “craft cocktails” many places but they have some some cocktails that are unlike anything I’ve had. Ask about the pre-prohibition old fashioned, which isn’t on the menu. It’s great if you like Rye!
Would not recommend for dinner. Overpriced and not worth it- no one loved their entrees. Ok for cocktails and nice atmosphere. Seated promptly. Made reservations, but were cramped-- 5 people at a very small table. Seated next to a large party and impossible to get out due to that. Would hesitate to return for dinner.
Great convenient spot. Lots of parking right adjacent to restaurant. Great server Raphael from Quebec! You don't get service like this every day - he is exceptional. Food delicious. Had a lobster pasta dish and my sister had oysters. The salad with maple dressing is great and the key lime pie - wonderful.
Excellent seafood. Only complaint is a little noisy for a normal conversation. Next time I will ask to be put not near the bar because people I'm with are hard of hearing so the background noise is difficult for them. Food choices are excellent and prepared perfectly.
Went to Salem for the first time with my husband last week and decided to go to Turner's for a nice sit down seafood dinner. The ambiance was absolutely charming. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but all of the Christmas decor gave it a whimsical touch. We were seated by the fireplace, which was the icing on the cake. Great spot, and not too hot. We each ordered a soup, lobster entree and alcoholic beverage. For the caliber of food, I would say the pricing is accurate. We wanted a memorable dinner and we got one. My only criticism is that our servers were switched out mid meal and neither seemed particularly happy to be our server. That aside, I am in love with Salem and I am in love with Turner's.
It is even hard to write a review, because after I do so, it comes up that SOMEHOW I have not filled in the required spaces!!! I will try once more, but you are lucky I have lost my patience with this endeavor, and probably won't be so blunt. The red potatoes served with my sole looked like red bowling balls, and we're as hard as rocks! The vegetables were not much better. The sole was presented to look like miniature dish towels. The wine was good, as usual. The service was adequate, although the server did not describe what my meal was going to look like, or how it was going tone set out. Eve the oysters were such as you could barely see two of them. Maybe when they are so small, others should be served to replace them.
Can not believe we had not been to Turner Seafood before! I had heard good things, but was still pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is beautiful with a great atmosphere. The bar area was jumping and the restaurant was a whole was very busy. We started with a seasonal drink from the bar and it did not disappoint. We each had a soup. The lobster bisque was rich and buttery and the fisherman's stew yummie. We decided on the swordfish special with a creamy pesto sauce over a risotto cake... delicious flavors and hearty enough to please a big appetite. The other entree was scallops with two sides of green veggies. Veggies were seasoned well and the scallops cooked just right. We finished up with a rich warm delicious chocolate cake sent out by the chef for our anniversary. We had a wonderful evening celebrating us! Thank you Turner... we'll be back.
This was our second time dining here on our annual Salem vacation, and it was just as amazing as our first experience. As with our first visit, we made a Saturday night reservation, which was honored in a timely fashion (it was for 8pm, we were seated by 8:05) with a cozy booth right next to the lovely roaring fireplace. Feels like a cozy lodge, even though the restaurant is large. The service and food were terrific despite it being crowded and busy. I highly recommend their specials--I had the grilled scallops and it was one of the best seafood meals I've had (and I live on the shore). All of the appetizers and desserts I have had there have been superb as well. I will look forward to returning a third time next year!
We love Turner Seafood and have been many times! Their fish is always fresh, and the chef is creative, mixing flavors and spices with new recipes. I started with the fish chowder which was loaded with fish, my husband had the tuna chili which was to die for! A friend had the lobster bisque which he loved. For my entree I had the haddock picatta, which was perfectly seasoned and lemony, and my husband had the hake marsala, and he finished every drop! The portions were generous, and my husband happily helped me finish my dinner! The wine and drinks were great, service was impeccable, ambiance was noisy but fun, and we sat in a booth near the window, which was much quieter. One drawback, the reservation is a semi-reservation, meaning they will take your name and seat you within fifteen minutes, but only if your entire party is here. If someone is parking, you'll have to wait until they return to be seated. Well worth the wait, though!
We went to Turner's for a ladies ' night out . We were seated promptly but there was some confusion as to who would take our order . We had 2 servers give us the specials and there seemed to be some confusion as to what those specials were because each person had different ingredients to tell us about . Our server took our drink orders and then came back quite quickly 3 times to get our order , felt a bit rushed . Our server also was not very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was good, not great but fresh and well prepared . I would go back but I will also try other places in the area .
We really enjoyed our meal, and the front of the house manager was a lovely man. Please note that while we made a reservation via Open Table, and therefore thought we had one, we had to wait, and when we inquired, were informed that it was call-ahead only, and they do not take reservations. That would be good to know!
