While on vacation we decided to try Turner's Seafood based on Trip Advisory reviews. Made a reservation but still had to wait. It was well worth it!!!! The food was delicious!
We were two couples, here to celebrate two birthdays. Friday night, we had a reservation and were seated right on time. Food was spectacular, we each had something different and shared around, and each dish was imaginatively prepared from top quality ingredients. Turner's is now our Salem go-to.
Absolutely best Mac and cheese ( appetizer dish) - I ordered the chicken Marsala with steamed broccoli - my dish was okay and the broccoli wasn’t steamed , closer to raw. It was just okay food and service was prompt and friendly but not above and beyond.
Outstanding food and service! I wouldn't come to Salem and not dine here. It is a must!!!
It was a crowded October night during Salem's high season. We were treated in such a special manner. The food was uniformly sensational. Wish they would open a branch in Westchester County, NY.
Our go to dining experience when in Salem
Even in the thick of Haunted Happenings, my daughter and I had a lovely lunch. The place was packed but the staff were courteous and helpful, to everyone! Food was prompt, hot and delicious!
We had a wonderful lunch, food was delicious and the service from Cindy was outstanding. We will keep coming back!
Everything was so good. Our waiter Camren was very attentive and accommodating.
Excellent food great service
We made a reservation here for our one year anniversary as we were celebrating in Salem. The location was beautiful. We were seated at a high-top table, but it was still comfortable because it had a large, cushiony seat with a foot rest below which always makes sitting at one of these tables bearable in my opinion.
Our waitress was dynamic. The food was great. Unfortunately our food got sent to another table, so the waitress let us know two desserts were on the house. I will definitely return here when I come back to Salem and look forward to trying other dishes. I had the fried seafood platter and it was a ton of food; also the best calamari I've ever had.
had reservations for 7pm, there were 2 bar seats available and we took the seats, usually the bartender/server is good, not this time! He didnt even ask how our food was! The manager or owner came by and we had to ask him to tell the bartender to order more drinks and food! The oyster and clam shucker took better care of us! More than Disappointed with service! I would recommend turners highly, just not at the bar!
Overall good experience. Only hiccup was the server forgot to take our dinner order. She seemed a little overwhelmed.
Great food and service ! A must go to in Salem!
The food and service was outstanding! The crab cakes, lobster pie, and Bouillabaisse were exceptional as were the sides bacon laced brussel sprouts and mashed cauliflower.
The waiter told us that he had many parties and was trying to get to everyone. It is a busy time of season, so it was expected. There was a table of several people and we were only a party of 2, so I think he was a bit more concerned with the larger party - which is also understandable...
Third time here and the food is still as great as the first time we stopped in. The chowder and bisque are phenomenal as are the entrees. Great wait staff too!!
Seated us right away for our reservation. The staff was attentive and nice! The food was phenomenal.
Booked this place for a weekend get away trip to Salem. We were seated fairly quickly, considering the high demand there is in October. Food took a little longer to come out, which was expected because of the crowd. The food and drinks were very good. Will go back on my next trip to Salem.
Three of us ate at Turner's for a girl's lunch during the October busy season. Turner's was an excellent choice. Great food with generous portions. I had the lobster bisque and sea scallops. Both were delicious! The scallops were loaded with bread crumbs. The atmosphere was pleasant and I was grateful it was not difficult to hear my companions. The service was ok. Our server was friendly but maybe she was new, because there were a few glitches but it was fine...nothing too major. I have to say Turner's was a welcome respite from the crazy business of Salem in October. We did make a reservation but they would not seat our party until everyone was there. It was ok because we sat in the bar until everyone arrived. I would definitely eat at Turner's again if I was in Salem!
Just back from a 2-week road trip through New England, but this place stood out as one of the better restaurants dined in while on our trip. We arrived prior to our reservation, and the staff was able to seat us right away even though we were there during the Halloween season.
We started with the recommended Classic New England Jonah Crab Cakes, which were outstanding. My wife ate the Baked shrimp and crab casserole, and I enjoyed the baked seafood medley. Both were fantastic.
The building which the restaurant is located in is a place with a storied history. Keep your eyes on your table, or you may find silverware has gone missing.
We would highly recommend this place
Best seafood I experienced in the New England area. Highly recommend the Seafood Boulliabiasse. Fantastic
Great food Great atmosphere. Got lobster pie and filet. Worth the price, which isn't cheap. Heard interesting ghost story about the building afterwards that was pretty cool
We always have a memorable meal at Turner's in Salem. The batter and freshness of the fish make the fish and chips the best in greater Boston. We had the fish tacos (using local caught fish) - this week it was blackened swordfish - out of this world. Calamari are always good as is the chowder. The only problem is that you are so full it is hard to have room for dessert. Great spot for lunch and go see the new wing of the Peabody Essex museum next door! The staff are wonderful and appropriately attentive.
Haddock piccata was amazing and I ordered it with cauliflower mashed -- best I've ever had!
One of the best meals we had in New England. Best clam chowder I had in New England. Broiled lobster and shrimp scampi were excellent. Waiter was very attentive and service was great.
Sever was excellent. Oyster Rockefeller and tuna Asian
Nachos were amazing
Our waitress was the SWEETEST and most ATTENTIVE server I've had in YEARS! The food, ambiance, and the location were supreme and I will definitely recommend it as a must-go-to for anyone going to Salem.
My friends and I had an absolute extraordinary experience at Turners. Food was exceptional, prices very reasonable and perfect service and ambiance. We can’t wait to return.
Place was amazing. The food and service excellent. Definitely returning next year!
Excellent overall. From welcome to the bar, to carrying the bar check to the table and quick welcome at the table. Chilled lobster and oysters were excellent. Not one speck of grit in the oysters and bring to perfection. We all ordered versions of rare tuna with a quick sear. Really good! Martini was perfect. Try the Sluice Juice if you’re into frangrant but smooth IPA.
Fabulous food. Lobster rolls insane and Mast Landing Gunners Daughter stout is EVERYTHING to write home about. I am never disappointed with this place!
Food was great because you can't find Finnan Haddie most place and all 3 of us had it! Creme Broulet was excellent and our waitress was a delight!
It would be nice if they could do something about the noice level.
👍 consistently good
Great time, great food, great service!! I would recommend this place to friends and family!
got the surf and turf with full lobsta pie, the steak was cooked perfectly and so tender you could cut it with your fork, lobster tasted so fresh it had to been swimming that day!!!! as a commercial fisherman for over twenty years, i know where to go for the best, freshest seafood around!!!.....once you are done trying the rest, come to turners and try the BEST!!!!
Great food for the price. It gets busy so make sure to reserve ahead of time or you'll be waiting awhile. Also, random fact I found out - the restaurant used to be a Lyceum for politics and show casing new inventions. In fact, Alexander Graham Bell was there at one point.
We go here every year when we visit Salem in September. Great food, drink, and service! I especially love the history behind the building.
Awesome food and great atmosphere! The lobster bisque was delicious.
