Turner's Seafood - Melrose Ratings and Reviews
The first time I came here with my husband we both had a lovely meal and really enjoyed our food.
This second time we did not enjoy our entrees very much. I personally ordered the same dish that I had ordered on my first visit and enjoyed. This time the shrimp was dry and almost seemed over cooked, but the baked potato I ordered was very hard.
Seems like this place might be hit or miss? I would give it one more shot but I’m not sure it will be anytime soon.
Took at least 10 minutes for the greet. We ordered drinks, clam chowder, oyster Rockefeller and entrees all at the same time because we waited so long. Chowder was awesome. We didn't like the oysters and when we told the server she simply said ok and took them away. Entrees were heavy and lacked flavor. Never had a manager come by the table but they did take the oyster off. We will not return which is sad because it's a great looking place.
Nye our waitress was amazing. So helpful and accommodating. I'm pregnant and we have a one year old at home so we don't get allot of date nights. She let us chill and not keep coming and asking us questions. She helped my husband find a good meal. The food was delish. Atmosphere is fun and differnt. Great date night or girls night def recommend
We searched Boston restaurants for Finan Haddie and found this little gem in Melrose! The oysters Rockefeller were perfectly prepared. The tuna shashimi was seared to just the correct temperature and texture.
Now to the main course: Finan Haddie. It was prepared in an onion cream sauce and cooked perfectly without drying the fish. Delightful and worth the drive from Boston.
The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was really quite lively and festively dressed for the holiday!!
I would recommend this restaurant for fish lovers!! Enjoy.
Turner’s has a good selection of classic New England seafood dishes with a creative twist. Excellent assortment of local oysters & lobster too! The service is always spot on even when they’re very busy a manager greets your table once you’re served to check in.
This is one of our go to places prior to the Melrose Symphony Orchestra- this was their Holiday Concert, and love Melrose center decorations during the holiday. Turner's gave us a cozy booth by the window and it was a beautiful wintery night with the lights and the snow! Food always great and served hot! Service has always been exceptional. I have had the same waiter the last three times, but he did not give his name, but he is excellent!
Always a great meal at Turner's. The seafood is always fresh and the kitchen always cooks it right. This Saturday night they had Nantucket Cape scallops as one of the evenings specials. All 3 in our party ordered them and they were wonderful!
We also got the steamers as an appetizer because Turner's prepares them just about better than anybody.
The wine list is basic - nothing special about it. We used to always get a Williamette Valley Pinot Noir they had on it, but now all they have are California Pinots. Desserts were only okay, but not going there for the dessert, going there for the seafood.
We took a friend there on Sunday night. She was visiting us from Rhode Island for the weekend. She and I both ordered the scallops, which were excellent: flavorful, and not overcooked. When the manager came around to see how we were enjoying dinner, our friend praised the scallops, saying they were the best she'd ever had. (She's 73.) However, she was unhappy with the baked potato because it had something unappetizing inside. I probably should've sent back my steamed brocoli, which arrived cool and seriously undercooked. But in the interest of being able to each my dinner all together, I didn't. My wife, who order salmon, was very pleased with her dish, which she's had at Turner's many times.
I have always loved Turner’s but this visit was later on a weekend in the evening. My order was over cooked according to the server and they were making me another .It seemed extremely long and three tables got their food before me. It must of been one of those nights but put an damper on my experience that night
We had a fire drill before our meal came and everyone had to evacuate. When we got our meal when we came back in and it was overcooked. Probably stayed under the heat lamp to long. We think they should have started over with our meal when the cooks came back in.
