Turner's Seafood - Melrose Ratings and Reviews
The food here was amazing ... everyone loved what they got. The steak and shrimp was amazing ... salmon was amazing ... and the bacon wrapped scallops were just incredible. Service was really good. Our server was wonderful and paid the perfect amount of attention to us. The only complaint I have is that I was told by the hostess that I had not made a reservation but I had made a "call ahead" and they would do their best to sit me within 20 minutes of the promised time. It's frustrating when you think you have a reservation and are expecting to sit down. I would have never made a "call ahead" at 7:15 on a Saturday ... obviously we waited 20 minutes because they were busy. Very frustrating.
They do not take reservations. You are put on a "waitlist" for the time you request. They may or may not get you seated at that time. We waited 30 minutes past our "reservation" time before we were seated. In the meantime, we stood in a very limited area in front of the drafty door and in the way of the wait staff going back and forth. However, once seated, the food came fast and was delicious. They gave us free dessert to compensate for our wait which we thought was a nice touch. Great atmosphere. Authentic fish market type of place that has a restaurant. A bit on the noisy side however. Would definitely repeat!
Hadn't been to the restaurant in a number of years, but friend wanted seafood so gave it a try again. Our server was superb and the food was delicious. We each had a side salad and the portions were generous. I had the haddock piccata and it was excellent. Friend had mussels dijonnaise and said it was delicious. We shared the dessert of the day - a specialty cheesecake and loved it. Noise level rather loud at times, but that would be only complaint.
Enjoyed a great meal. We tried the stuffed clams appetizer which were amazing! I had the blackened Mexican shrimp which was delicious. Lucky to get a small booth for two which I was really glad about the tables are in the middle and a bit crowded. We will definitely be back!
A regular @ this restaurant - food is always a plus & if there's an issue, it's remedied.
Can't wait to read the specials on the board. Pretty much know the menu.
The special appetizer was awesome. As well as the special entree.
The issue this night- we were seated 40 minutes after our scheduled time. Very busy night - it happens.
For the inconvenience, our appetizers were on the house.
The food was quite tasty, but the fish was over-cooked, and not just mine. For a seafood place, that was disappointing. For a $28 salmon dish, I feel taken. They brought my friend the wrong meal, were apologetic, gave her and her boyfriend a free dessert, so that's something. But she had to sit there while they put together a replacement meal. We fed her from our plates rather than let our meals get cold which was a good choice because it took quite a while. Kind of weird, but they didn't offer her an appetizer or anything to chew on during the wait. At that price point, I'm again disappointed. As I wrote, the food was tasty, but none of us will be going back.
My husband and I have been here a few times and absolutely love it. Not only is the food the BEST, but the wait staff and hostess are very nice too. They treat you how every restaurant should, 100% hospitality. I'm from Boston but lived in Fl for many years. Just got back a few years ago and found the best seafood restaurant eva!
This is our favorite local seafood restaurant. The fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The sesame crusted tuna, seared medium rare to rare, melts in your mouth. The broiled scrod always comes out piping hot with just right amount of crumbs and butter. And the fried clams and calamari are the best we’ve tasted— tender, lightly battered, and not greasy. I love that I can always substitute the sides that I prefer to those printed on the menu. Wait staff are always pleasant and accommodating!
The first time I came here with my husband we both had a lovely meal and really enjoyed our food.
This second time we did not enjoy our entrees very much. I personally ordered the same dish that I had ordered on my first visit and enjoyed. This time the shrimp was dry and almost seemed over cooked, but the baked potato I ordered was very hard.
Seems like this place might be hit or miss? I would give it one more shot but I’m not sure it will be anytime soon.
Took at least 10 minutes for the greet. We ordered drinks, clam chowder, oyster Rockefeller and entrees all at the same time because we waited so long. Chowder was awesome. We didn't like the oysters and when we told the server she simply said ok and took them away. Entrees were heavy and lacked flavor. Never had a manager come by the table but they did take the oyster off. We will not return which is sad because it's a great looking place.
Nye our waitress was amazing. So helpful and accommodating. I'm pregnant and we have a one year old at home so we don't get allot of date nights. She let us chill and not keep coming and asking us questions. She helped my husband find a good meal. The food was delish. Atmosphere is fun and differnt. Great date night or girls night def recommend
We searched Boston restaurants for Finan Haddie and found this little gem in Melrose! The oysters Rockefeller were perfectly prepared. The tuna shashimi was seared to just the correct temperature and texture.
Now to the main course: Finan Haddie. It was prepared in an onion cream sauce and cooked perfectly without drying the fish. Delightful and worth the drive from Boston.
The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was really quite lively and festively dressed for the holiday!!
I would recommend this restaurant for fish lovers!! Enjoy.
Turner’s has a good selection of classic New England seafood dishes with a creative twist. Excellent assortment of local oysters & lobster too! The service is always spot on even when they’re very busy a manager greets your table once you’re served to check in.
This is one of our go to places prior to the Melrose Symphony Orchestra- this was their Holiday Concert, and love Melrose center decorations during the holiday. Turner's gave us a cozy booth by the window and it was a beautiful wintery night with the lights and the snow! Food always great and served hot! Service has always been exceptional. I have had the same waiter the last three times, but he did not give his name, but he is excellent!
Always a great meal at Turner's. The seafood is always fresh and the kitchen always cooks it right. This Saturday night they had Nantucket Cape scallops as one of the evenings specials. All 3 in our party ordered them and they were wonderful!
We also got the steamers as an appetizer because Turner's prepares them just about better than anybody.
The wine list is basic - nothing special about it. We used to always get a Williamette Valley Pinot Noir they had on it, but now all they have are California Pinots. Desserts were only okay, but not going there for the dessert, going there for the seafood.
