Turn 12 Bar And Grill Ratings and Reviews
Waited 10 minutes after seated for someone to come to the table. No body came to refill the water glasses. Asked for dessert menu and took over 5 minutes to get it and then 10 minutes for someone to check what we wanted to order. We ended up not ordering dessert and left. Food was fine and waiter was friendly, just need training on promptness of service as it was not busy when we got there.
Despit we had a reservation, the restaurant host put my family in the bar area next to the door. I told the host my husband was sick and we preferred not to sit in this area. However, th host insisted the restaurant was booked and could not move us. On the other hand, I saw the host continued to take other customers into the restaurant inside. Therefore, I decided to check out myself and found plenty space inside the restaurant. Is there a race discrimination against Alain in this restaurant? I will never take my family to this restaurant ever again.
I wanted to love this restaurant because of the location (downtown Monterey) and theme (Laguna Seca and auto racing) and extensive menu. Perhaps it was an off night in terms of getting the regular wait and kitchen staff....perhaps not? The hostess and manager very kindly got us a table when we arrived early for our dinner reservation. That was the best part of the evening. Our waiter was harried and inattentive. The dinner entree of Clams and Linguini was mediocre and did not arrive as described in the menu. Another waitress took care of that because our waiter was nowhere and did not check back after we were served. Two other dinner entrees were satisfactory but did not deliver in terms of taste and presentation. We will give the restaurant another visit and hopefully service and food quality will be better.
Some dishes were good (lobster corn chowder, salmon) others did not come as ordered, and kids pizza was burnt on bottom. Entrees took an incredibly long time to come to table. Other guests came in after we had ordered, ordered their meals, and were served their food first. Waiter would not admit anything was wrong, but we waited 35 minutes for a kids meal to get to table, then it came burnt. Service was lacking and we only saw our waiter a total of 3 times the whole service. Disappointing.
The menu is great with lots of choices and the dishes all looked great. Unfortunately, the service did not match the options. The service was very rough and our waiter answered all of our requests with "no problem"....which we found to be a problem. Also, depending on where you sit, you will have a different experience. The main area of the restaurant is vibrant while the back area is somewhat dark and quiet.
This place is just mediocre. The Caesar salad was forgettable and the second round of drinks we ordered were horrible. We asked them to be remade and they still weren't good. Very disappointing since we just ordered margaritas. The mushroom pizza was delicious and the roaster chicken salad was tasty. The bar was full due to the World Series game on so it did get loud a few times but nothing out of control. Probably won't be back.
Just like last time, good food, good service, good menu options. This time I had the Turn 12 Sandwich, which is a thick chicken breast, bacon, avocado, lettuce & tomato on a nice crusty bun. The fries were good, but too much Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top (I do not like Parmesan cheese, my fault, should have asked them to omit it). My husband tried the Prosciutto Pizza, loved it. He's not a big fan of arugula but he ate it all, so it must have been good. Good selection of beers on tap and bottle. My only "complaint" is that they didn't bring a glass for the bottled beer. Otherwise, great dinner before we saw Howie Mandel at the Golden State Theatre. I'm sure we'll be back again.
This restaurant has a very casual atmosphere. Sport oriented, Very friendly. Many of the locals hangout here. The food is much better than you might expect in a sport oriented grill. I ordered the braised short ribs. Outstanding. I would recommend this as one of the better casual dining experiences.
The chef was not willing to accommodate a very simple request to give me 2 different vegetables since I don't eat white rice due to a restricted diet I'm on. He refused to do that which has never happened to me before anywhere.(they ran out of the box choy which was supposed to come with it). Instead he doubled up on the brocoloni. It was disappointing and set a really bad tone for the meal. The portions were small and the food was just ok.
This is the first time that we've had a reservation and our table wasn't ready on time. We had to wait 8 minutes. That's it, we're not mad. It happens, they must have kids too. Food and presentation was fantastic. Time to order to table was about 15 minutes. About what you'd expect for the quality of the food.
Turn 12 is an awesome restaurant to grab a quick bite to eat. Our Server was fantastic, she was always on top of things and very friendly. The food was delicious and the decor was even better. I honestly don't have any real complaints about this place. 10/10 would recommend to a friend
Loved this place! As a longtime race enthusiast and Laguna Seca fan, it was fun to see all of the photos and memorabilia. Menu had more variety than I was expecting from a bar and grill. I had the sand dabs special, it was amazing. My husband raved over the lobster corn chowder, and we both loved the wine selection. We will be back for sure!
Third time here, same dinner each time, Chipotle Chicken, third time enjoyed the meal. This last time the chicken was heavy on the chipotle so maybe ask for it less spicy if you don't like too much heat. Chicken was cooked great, juicy, not dried out. Husband had an onion & mushroom pizza and loved loved loved it. Crust was cooked and chewy.
The restaurant has a racing theme and it adorned with great photos and items from racing history. F1 fans will especially like the decorations. Turn 12 has a large room other side of the bar that will accommodate large crowds. I was there on a Friday night and there were at least 3 parties of 10-20 people each.
Multiple TV screens in the bar showing live sports. Not a large bar area, so if you really want to see a game or match, make sure you get there ahead of time to stake out your seat.
They have a varied menu, most people can find at least a few things they might enjoy. I've been there with a large 10-12 people group and no one had an issue choosing a meal. I dinged 1 star for service as they aren't as attentive as I'd like. Reponses on requests were just a tad slower than I would have liked, but otherwise good service. All orders were correct, even with 12 people ordering various drinks from the bar.
Overall a great meeting and eating place. Convenient location downtown. Street parking if you can find it, garage parking nearby.
One of my favs in the Monterey area. Great meals from the wide range of salads to delicious steaks and ribs. My friends had the ribs that falls off the bone and the salmon special, both well prepared and presented. I enjoyed the steak salad that had a smooth vinaigrette dressing. The environment is a cool motoring theme with vintage motorcycles and tasteful artwork adorning each room.
Turn 12 is an interesting mix of a restaurant trying to be a sports bar and a family restaurant. The menu has a good variety of options and the cocktail menu is also enticing. There were 6 of us for dinner. Service was very slow in the beginning, but got better after we received our food (a little late in the game if you ask me). We started with cocktails, which took a long time to get. Once we did get the drinks it turned out that the bartender left out a few components in two of the cocktails, which took extra time to fix. Once the drinks were fixed, we enjoyed them - they were quite good. Most of our group ordered salads or the fried oysters followed by burgers with sweet potato fries or the flat bread pizza. All of the food was quite good - the bison burger, sweet potato fries, and fried oysters were exceptional. Would I eat there again? If I were in the neighborhood or lived around the corner, I might. It's probably a better pick for lunch than dinner.
