I have been to Turquaz many times over the last ten years and it is always good, with excellent service. Authentic Turkish meals can accommodate vegetarians as well as meat lovers. The quiet atmosphere with well spaced tables makes it easy to carry on a conversation. The lentil soup, made without cream, is a favorite.
Everything was great...Thanks
We have been here a number of times in the last few weeks and the food, ambience and service are always very good. The food is delicious and there are several vegetarian options.
What is puzzling to me is why isn't it packed on a Saturday night when lesser quality restaurants are full?
Perhaps the decor needs a bit of TLC but food is great. It speaks for itself.
Very good food, I was surprised it wasn't more full (maybe because it was mid-week). The kebabs were juicy and tasty, the vegetarian food had very nice flavors. The service was a bit slow, but friendly and charming. Very nice and peaceful ambiance. Overall, a great find and I will definitely be back.
Ordentliches türkisches Essen aber nichts besonderes und leider hierfür dann überteuert. Das lieblose Ambiente hat da leider dann gepasst.
I'm not sure what was going on, but the service was absolutely terrible. We were left in the back "tent" and had no regular waitstaff. Bread would come, but not water. It took almost an hour for the cold appetizer plate to come out -- but by that point, we had no bread. While the food was tasty and they were apologetic, even when we brought the problem to the attention of the waitstaff and the manager, nothing changed and there was no acknowledgment that there had been a problem. By 7:30, the restaurant was 1/2 empty and there should have been no reason why there were no waiters available to check on us.
Very chill dining experience with great ambiance and even better food.
Delicious, as always! We love the buffet and will continue to come back again and again.
Excellent as always. We also had a belly dancer life show. Very good dancer. Food was delicious. We had a great time!
The service was absolutely terrible .. don't think I will ever go back
Fun atmosphere and good service. Mezes very good; lamb rather dry. Large portions (took main home for 2 more meals)!
First Time at Turkuaz and would definitely return. Very crowded but well noise proofed-a blessing. Food was excellent especially the whipped caviar and the house special.
Our daughter once left her purse behind by accident. The restaurant staff had kindly found and kept it until we returned to pick it up the following week. Attentive, courteous staff. Excellent, authentic Turkish dishes. Desserts are superb also.
an original environment enhanced by the cultures design history. You are quickly taken to another time and country when walking in. while admiring the creative decorations you are then welcomed by the knowledgeable and trained staff that are treating you as the only guest and King for the night.
Things only get better as the food arrives and the senses are aroused by the sight and smell. The taste then adds a new level of indulgent, every taste bub and the pallets are screaming with pure pleasure and delight. This is a hidden gem in the city and I will be going more frequently.
Love the food and the people who work there are great. But place is feeling it's age. A little run down. Would love to see it get some TLC. The parlor area used to be so inviting and comfortable. Not so anymore. And the main dining room just needs some attention.
Great atmosphere! Feels very authentic, and the food is quite good. It's not the greatest Turkish food, and the selection is minimal (pretty standard at many Turkish places), but overall it is a nice time. Decor is really nice, but the service is a bit slow! We had to go fetch our waiter several times. Belly dancing is a plus, but show doesn't start until 9:30.
Food is always delicious! Big potions means leftovers which is nice!
Our first waiter was rude... no other way to describe him. Our 'birthday girl' asked for another waiter and we got one who was pleasant, but certainly no one went out of their way to acknowledge that this was a special occasion dinner which I had not only put on the reservation when I made it but told them when we entered.
They kept putting food we hadnt ordered on our table and didn't bring what we had. They didn't ask us if we wanted any bread and didn't bring any.
The food was unremarkable.
What I can say is that they were generous with time as we stayed for quite a long time and left us alone. Maybe it's just because they are good at 'leaving one alone'
A big fan of turkish food and this place was very delicious! Not only is the food good but the place itself sets the mood !!!
The staff was so attentive and wonderful -- we were in good hands during our party.
The food, as always, was delicious.
We've lived just a few blocks from this place for several years and finally tried it for the first time last week. I think we hadn't been drawn in because of the look of the room/lobby that faces the street, which could use a little facelift. But once inside, you're led into a big room further in that is full of atmosphere and much nicer. The food was delicious (I had the lamb sis--amazing--and my dining mates had the chicken sultan's delight, and the lamb sultan's delight, which they enjoyed very much), and the staff very warm and professional.
We were sitting at a very nice table and almost on top of us they created a table for 6. They were so close that when a women sat down she knocked into our table. The staff was not very apologetic. It left a bad feeling the rest of the meals, we ourselves moved to another table that was smaller.
We were seated in the back room, the harem room, and it was perfect. We were able to talk without difficulty. Our server was very helpful. We really enjoyed the belly dancer.
The tent like section.. very cozy and good acoustics.
Very attentive waiting staff and loved the choices on menu.. very home style food - tasty
Excellent authentic Turkish food. Very pleasant atmosphere and attentive service.
We will definitely return there.
This is my go-to restaurant on the Upper West Side for gatherings of friends and family. For those who love Turkish food, this is a great place; if you've never tried Turkish cooking, the cuisine is excellent, with an emphasis on stewed vegetables and grilled meats. Lots of vegetarian choices among the appetizers (hot and cold), and an array of Turkish entrees, both meat and meatless. The house special, Turkuaz Beǧendi, is a local take on a traditional Turkish eggplant puree with lamb. Choose a Turkish wine to accompany your meal -- they are often really good, and not too expensive. The desserts are all excellent (this time we tried the tasty pistachio pudding), as is the traditional Turkish coffee -- just remember not to drink that last sip!
The food was tasty and the atmosphere entertaining. There was a good variety of items. The lamb was delicious. There was a belly dancer which provided good entertainment and discussion. The bussers were quick to fill up water glasses. The food took too long to come and arrived cold when it did. The waitress was there to take our order, check-in after our food was delivered, and deliver the bill. We had to work to get her attention.
We've eaten at Turkuaz multiple times over the past several years and each time the meal has been memorable. We've been to Istanbul multiple times and Turkuaz comes very, very close the food, atmosphere, and smells of lokata and tavernas there. From the meze (appetizers), main dishes, and desserts the experience is always delicious and memorable.
Reliable neighborhood place w/ authentic Turkish cuisine. I especially like the stuffed cabbage. Big rooms so easy to get in any time.
Restaurant did not open until 12.00. Reservation at 11.00 am
