The service was slow, but the food more than made up for it.
We love Tupelo Honey and decided to try their new spring menu. We were not disappointed! We chose the Tomato and Burrata for an appetizer and it was DELICIOUS! My boyfriend chose the Steak and Eggs, since it was Sunday Brunch, and I went for the Grateful Veg Burger. His steak and eggs were devoured in less than 10 minutes, and my burger was so huge that I couldn’t finish it! The meyer lemon aioli on the burger was TO DIE FOR. So happy with Tupelo Honey and their delicious food, great staff, and clean restaurant. This is why we continue to come back! One of the best.
I was very much looking forward to Sunday Brunch at Tupalo Honey since I had not been there before. We made a reservation and arrived on time. Our service was some of the worst I have had in Charlotte. It took over 15 minutes to get our first drink. We order 2 more drinks over the course of 2 hours and had to follow up with our server multiple times. I even told the manager we were waiting on drinks when they brought our food and it still took 10 more minutes for 2 canned beers to arrive at the table. I would describe our server similar to a unicorn in the sense that we RARELY saw her. Each time she came to the table we were in need of or waiting for something. This place is not cheap either! Our bill was over $100 for 2 people for brunch. If you are paying that kind of money, you should expect above average service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are plently of other brunch scenes in Charlotte for you to spend your money! Don’t waste your time or wallet on Tupalo for Brunch!
Parking is the worst at this restaurant. The food was good and service was good.
We had a group of 7 ladies
This place was very busy and a little chaotic. We had to wait on the complimentary biscuits for over 20 minutes and they came with our dinner. Waiters were getting the tables mixed up of whom got what also.
We’ve been to Tupelo Honey a number of times and always loved it. The service and environment where as fantastic as expected this time. However, I was underwhelmed by the food. The fried green tomato appetizer was fantastic! The shrimp and grits, which I’ve had a few times, was missing something. Shrimp seemed a little overcooked and the flavor was bland. There was no sense of goat cheese in the grits at all. The chocolate cake for dessert was a little soggy and also bland. The whipped cream and caramel sauce with it were too sweet. It just wasn’t the extraordinarily yummy, flavor balanced experience I’m used to at Tupelo Honey. The rest of my party seemed delighted with their food. I will try again and hope that this night was an anomaly.
Thanks to our reservation we were seated right away. My wife and I both had the blackened catfish which was excellent (I wish the portion had been a bit larger). The rest of our party seemed to enjoy their meals as well.
This was a great place to catch a meal on a Friday night in the South End. The outdoor seating was nice. Our server Darius was top notch and made the dining experience great.
Go early in the day for the best food and service. Parking is awful, bring a small car or Uber over. Reservations are a must. The first time we dined was at 6PM, the food was great and the service was friendly. The second time we dined there it was 8:30 and the food / service was not top notch.
The food was just okay but I am very picky. The service was amazing and made me feel very valued . You cannot find great customer service anymore and they are top notch!!!
The food was very good. This is basically southern comfort food done well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to eat themselves silly. The fried chicken was very good.
It was my second time there. As always, the hostesses and waitress are phenomenal with their service. The food was just ok. I had the pecan pie French toast, one egg and a side of bacon. Nice ambiance
Over priced food and drinks and huge waiting list. Not point in wasting your time when there are hundreds of better/cheaper/quicker options in Charlotte
Great ambience. Food was just okay. And service was just okay.
Made a reservation for husband’s birthday and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Received 4 biscuits with jam and honey, two of them were hard. Told waiter and he replace them with fresh biscuits. Waiter was helpful and offered suggestions. The appetizer I wanted to try (South Carolina egg rolls) were out. I orderd a simple meal (friend chicken with macaroni and cheese with Brussels sprouts). The presentation was good; however the sprouts were like warm and not hot. The chicken breasts were a little dry and I could have used more Mac and cheese. My husband orderd the ribs and fries and said it was good but was not hot. I ate at the Asheville location a few years ago and was blown away. Not impressed with the Charlotte location. Not sure if I will return
We ate at the bar and Bailey was a great server. The atmosphere reminded us of other old south restaurants we've come across in other states.
The sweet potato pancakes with fried chicken was fantastic!
My waitress Kim was beyond amazing! She was very personable, sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. She made our experience the best! I will definitely be coming back! P.S. the Mac and cheese is AMAZING!!!!!
Food was spot on! Wait staff was excellent, friendly without being smothering. Enjoyed the cheesecake immensely!!!
Our server was great, however there was quite a long delay on the food. Both the server and the manager came by to let us know the order would be delayed. Other than the slowness of the arrival of dinner, the evening was very nice.
I’ve been to Tupelo Honey on four other occasions. Sometime the service is great and sometimes not so much! This past visit was a Saturday night. The place was loud and the waitress was extremely over extended. The restaurant decor is great, but again, too loud and crowded together. The food was fine, Cosmos were good - but took a long time to get. Food was put on the table quickly, waitress left very quickly and did not check back. Dessert was fine, not spectacular. Drinks were not refilled, I was a little embarrassed to have suggested the restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. Service was below standard, food was standard, not done as well as usual and ambiance was meh. I won’t be back on a weekend night again, but maybe lunch...
Delicious food — the sweet potato pancakes are perfection. Little pricey, but I’d go back for a special occasion.
The sweet potato pancakes were delicious. Definitely recommend.
The food was great, however pricey for what we got. Biscuits were AMAZING!! Would recommend this restaurant
If you love southern food, you will love Tupelo Honey. I had to go just for the Van Morrison reference. The atmosphere is great, but there is a lot of noise indoors. However, they were able to seat us outside, and it was great. It was our first time there, so we over ordered food (it's heavy), but everything we had was delicious!! The only drawback for me was the cocktails. The drinks are way overpriced for what you get. But definitely go for the food. You won't be disappointed!
We drove from Greensboro to meet a friend for dinner. Fried okra for appetizer was very good. They offer all kinds of interesting cocktails. Dinner was delicious! Music was a little to loud for easy conversation and waitress really never came back to fill our drinks. Otherwise everything was very good and we had a wonderful time. Would definitely go again.
Patio is great but train & street noice is bit overwhelming.
The food and service were great, as usual. Alec went above and beyond. He was very patient with my elderly, hard of hearing mother. I appreciated that. He had a very and upbeat personality.
Great food and lovely service.must have- biscuit and fried green tomatoes:)
Our food was very good; however, the service was very slow for the amount of people in the restaurant. We did not receive one of the items we ordered. Kudos to the manager for comping us the meal. We will definitely eat here again.
The food was poor quality for one. They changed their menu and the selections were just unattractive. It was Easter and we had a reservation. When we arrived there were plenty of empty tables and yet they made us wait for 15 minutes before seating us which made no sense. I used to enjoy going to eat at Tupelo but after this last time I will never return except to the one in Asheville
This was our Easter brunch and it was just wonderful! Food had immense flavor and our service was impeccable.
Easter brunch here was lively. Server very friendly but hard to hear over the noise. We did not get biscuits as was told us until we asked. Hot water for tea not hot enough. My son left his retainer in a case at the table and it was waiting for our retrieval after left—-very grateful.
We went for Easter Brunch. The website said you would receive a card with a prize inside for discount on your meal or dinner for future use. We never received any card or discount. We also signed up and were to receive a free pint glass, I showed the server the email and promo code and said she would bring it, we never received that either.
The food was very good and portions were good size as well.
Recently ate here for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is great. Absolutely loved the burrata appetizer. However, the main dishes we ordered were lackluster. We got the huevos rancheros and the burger. Nothing special about either. Honestly, the huevos rancheros were actually really disappointing. The fries that came with the burger were freaking delicious though.
Oh... DO NOT GET A SIDE! I ordered a side of sausage. It was $4. They gave me some broken up sausage pieces in a tiny container you would usually use to put a bit of ketchup/mustard/mayo inside. A waste of money.
This is my first time having dinner at Tupelo, as I’ve always just gone for breakfast or brunch. The southern dip was amazing and a nice southern twist on spinach dip - I’ve never had collards as a dip with pork rinds to dip with, but this appetizer was full of flavor. For my entree I went with the shrimp and grits, and added the chorizo. This was my amazing...the goat cheese grits was creamy and tasty, and the spicy saucy over the shrimp, combined with the nice chunks of chorizo were and awesome combo. My husband kept eating my dish it was SO good. He played it safe with the catfish and veggies...which he said was a little boring compared to my dish. Some of the dishes were a surprisingly a little pricey, but we both agreed we’d absolutely come back for dinner here.
What they used to clean the tables with left a sour milk type smell on the table.
Just a note, not a steakhouse choose another dish. Southern Inspired dishes where great! Service and atmosphere where great!
Very nice restaurant with unique food and terrific service. The next time I am in Charlotte, I will make a point of going.
