The image and experiences at TH have always been good for me, but my other visits have been to a Asheville NC location. On this visit to Charlotte, the food was very unimpressive. Among 4 people we ordered 3 appetisers and 4 entrees. All agreed that only one appetiser and one entree was good. I was personally disappointed in their "specialty" honey chicken. It was dry and not very flavorful at all. We ate dinner early (6:30ish) so I would have expected everything to be fresh.
Will eat at a different location of TH again, but not this one.
Based on this particular visit I cannot recommend as I normally would. It was not what I've come to expect from Tupelo Honey. I usually enjoy it very much; however, this time things were definitely off. Okra and potatoes were spot on, but everything else was a disappointment. Food was cold when it arrived and didn't have much flavor. I ordered coffee twice and it never arrived. The mimosa tasted sour as if really bad orange juice was used. I'll go again and hope the next visit is a return to the great food and the great service I've come to expect.
I've been to multiple Tupelo Honey locations, and to this location for brunch twice now. Overall the food was good, but overpriced for what you get and under-seasoned. The waitress suggested I try the avocado toast after I told her what I was looking at, and I cannot state how disappointed in it I was. It was fine, but at $15 I did at least expect the eggs to be warm and the side to be more substantial than a pile of arugula. Also, the mimosas start at $7.75, the last time I ate here they must have been running a special because I know they were no more than $3 that day, which led to overall disappointment.
I feel I should add that the biscuits and blueberry compote were amazing as always, and this is one of the best porches to eat on in Charlotte. The string lights and blue painted ceiling are beautiful and make me feel like I'm in Charleston. I'd say if you go, maybe go for lunch or consider getting one of their meals that includes chicken, the fried chicken is always good here. I probably won't be back for brunch
6 of us went for breakfast at 9.00 a.m. on a Sunday morning and overall we were very impressed. Our server was very attentive and kept topping up our coffees and drinks and even asked us if he should make it a priority to get the orders out first for the 2 young boys who were with us. The food was delicious, with lots of choice but we did have one little niggle. My daughter & I were a little bit disappointed with the small amount of Hollandaise Sauce on our Eggs Benedict, although I think if we had mentioned it earlier, we may have been given some more. However, we all said we would definitely go back another time and try their dinner menu.
Delicious!!! Had the fried chicken. Many wonderful sides
Not our favorite trip to this restaurant. Both our meals had to be redone. 30 minutes to get a decaf coffee....
The food was prepared very well however it lacked taste to me. My wife loved it but it was bland in my opinion.
My friend and i went for brunch on a Saturday. Was sat in a timely manner. Waiter was overwhelmed as i found out later he was double sat. He wasn't attentive to refills. My food was great, however my friend's bacon was cold. Everything else on her plate was hot. Management made sure she received hot bacon. Server came around twice total.
Our meal was absolutely delish!!!! We were vacay and decided to try Tupelo and loved everything about our experience. We googled and were very excited to realize we have one only a few minutes from our house. This will be a new regular spot for our family!!!
The food was TERRIBLE! We ended up sending dishes back that were just not good.
This last experience was absolutely lovely! Great service and super friendly waiter who knew what he was doing and was knowledgeable about the dishes!
I went with a group of friends for brunch before a Panther's game; it was extremely noisy and the wait staff were completely overwhelmed. Our waiter didn't order us the correct amount of appetizers and was extremely slow to check on us and bring our bill out to us. He never even came back to refill our waters. I ordered the avocado toast and it was the worst I've ever had of the dish. Extremely overpriced for what you get, and again the quality of the food is not there. Too bad, because it was a very different menu and I was excited to try it out. The do make a nice biscuit and blueberry jam (they bring it out when you first sit down) but that was about the only thing I enjoyed of the whole meal. Not again for me.
All of our food was cold after waiting 45 minutes for it, not a good experience.
We had an enjoyable breakfast at Tupelo Honey and our server Jada couldn’t have been lovelier! The ambience was relaxed and just what we wanted. The food was really tasty and unique southern flavor. Would try again when in town.
Went here for a birthday lunch with my parents. The kitchen was very busy so our service was a little slow but our waitress apologized for the delay and the food was amazing!
Tupelo Honey is one of my favorite places to go for a home- styled meal - However, today, my coffee was completely watered down, I had hair or two in my eggs, and I ordered the Goat Cheese grits but was brought the Rosemary.
I would have said something but it took 20 minutes for our server to come back and check on us. By that time we had to leave so we asked for our checks.
Like I said - I adore Tupelo Honey and I was quite upset with my experience. However, things happen. My advice would be to have the food runner double checking as the food goes out and potentially scheduling someone to walk through and check on the table once during their visit, it would go a long way.
Lots of promise here - and I'm sure I just got a bad morning. Long waits for non-reservation folks, even though the dining room was mostly empty.
The good - biscuits are very good and served buttery and warm with Tupelo honey and blueberry compote. All good, and the honey is really the shining star.
Now for the not so good... Eggs Benedict is meh when poor and unappetizing done wrong and this was wrong. A mass of roasted potatoes (good) with a dry biscuit holding ham, two very hard-yolked eggs and not a drop of hollandaise. A few dry bites in - with no yolk and no sauce - and I had to ask for hollandaise. Out came a little cup of thin, translucent-y sauce that at first I thought was just melted butter. I wouldn't risk this again.
The other dish at the table - chicken/biscuits and gravy-type thing - is more atuned to their theme and definitely more polished in flavor and presentation. This is definitely the go-to when dining here.
Service was great. Coffee good, and kept full. I will try again for a non-brunch meal.
The staff surprised us with an appetizer and cookbook for our anniversary!
My husband ordered a hamburger and it was not good. The meat was hard to chew.
Wonderful food, quick service. Overall great experience! Sunday’s are busy but wish our waiter would smile more:) I know we were a big table though so I’m sure it may have been stressful! Just would encourage management to tell service to be more pleasant.
The reservation said Birthday but the server didn’t acknowledge it. He served us decaf coffee. My food was good but my friend’s steak was over cooked.
All dinners were excellent. Highly recommend the Banana Pudding. All thought it was the best they ever had.
My favorite restaurant in Charlotte so far. BEST Bloody Mary! Wonderful service and delicious food. I’ll be back!
Good food, good service. We would return in the future.
Great food! Service was good. Didn’t like how tight outside was, table next to mine had two dogs and their fur was shedding everywhere, landing on tables including mine.
Great choice for business lunches and dinner. The service is always exceptional from the hostess to the waitresses.
Tupelo Honey was an amazing restaurant. The food was fresh, tasty, and great portion. The outdoor ambiance was pleasant and cute!
Food was ok....I can say I tried it. The waitress had a bad attitude that threw us off each time she visited the table. I won't be returning.
The food was fantastic but the waitress rushed us out.
My major complaint was that I ordered the beet/goat cheese salad after asking our server if this was sufficient for a dinner entrée. She said it was pretty large. Well, let me tell you that it was just a tad larger than a side salad and mostly field greens for $11.50. I was very disappointed and left the restaurant hungry. In hindsight, I should have refused it as soon as it was presented at the table.
Waitress didn’t know much....kinda dampened the night
Ordered verlasso salmon with sides of salt and pepper crispy brussels and collards with bacon. Salmon was very plain. Added a touch of honey on top myself to give it some flavor. Could not find a taste of salt and pepper on the very soggy, heavy oiled, non crispy brussel sprouts. Did not eat but a couple of those. Added salt and pepper myself. Collards were just meh at best. My wife also had the same experience with her brussels. She did state the honey dusted froes chicken was excellent along with the mac and cheese. Service was friendly but not attentive to customers after meal was served. The bright spot is the gentleman who asked had we been helped upon entering the restaurant who also brought our meals to the table. He was beyond kind and full of smiles and good vibes. The lady who sat us at our table was also very nice.
Pricey for the kind of food they serve. POOR customer service and attitude from waiter (Morgan). It took about 14m after being seated for our waiter to make initial contact and take order. We were served 37m after ordering, after delivering our food our waiter never checked back, we had to call a different waiter to assist. The concept is nice, outside terrace makes it pretty unique. Other than that, we wouldn’t fo back.
This is just southern goodness with a creative flair. Excellent choices and breakfast dishes all the time with biscuit heaven. I had a small salad, half chicken sandwich and collard greens and they were delicious. I did also have to try a fried chicken breast and that was fantastic. Everyone should really go for the pancakes and fried chicken but that’s for another visit. Must see
Waiter seemed like his head was someplace else. The food didn’t taste fresh and I was actually grossed out to eat my picnic chicken sandwich, so I only took 2 bites out of it.
The only tough part was parking. Everything else was great. We had great service and great food.
Delicious food, fantastic service by Holli, southern ambience, what’s not like like? The Avocado Toast with scrambled egg whites was my take on healthy. My husband loved the Old Skool Bowl. It’s on the second floor and an elevator is available if stairs are too much.
It was outstanding and I so recommend coming again. The food was great and the atmosphere was especially enjoyable.
The chicken (both fried and grilled) was extremely over cooked. We were very disappointed in all of the dishes we ordered.
The restaurant was also very loud., even at only 70% full.
Tupelo Honey had delicious food. However, a lot of it was really spicy. Biscuits should be offered with or without the spice. We also could not hear our server because she was very quiet and the restaurant was pretty loud. The biscuits in the fried chicken and biscuits were hard as rocks. Otherwise it was a great experience.
