Great 3 course menu before the show, and very high quality cuisine. I also like the portions, they were not too big, just the right size.
The food is excellent at Tundra. We had the spiced pork chop, the roasted quail, and the miso glazed salmon. All of us enjoyed their entrees. I had the ice wine panacotta for dessert which was amazing. The best dessert I have had a while. I highly recommend the restaurant and all of us are looking forward to coming back soon.
Great service and food, the restaurant was fairly empty so it’s a good environment if you want peace and quiet, but not so much if you’re looking for a more social atmosphere.
This is the third time I have dined at Tundra after an opera.
It has been a good experience on each occasion, and especially the third time when I booked in advance.
The food is good, the ambience pleasant, and the noise level much more manageable - more modest - than in most places convenient to the Opera.
Our waiter was especially pleasant and courteous.
I am quite sure we will return when next we go to the opera.
Convenient, pretty good food, handy to the Opera House
We went to Tundra after a show at the opera, across the street. Although our reservation was for 5 people, the server apparently thought the empty seat at our table meant we were waiting for someone, so I had to flag him down 20 minutes after we were seated, to place an order. The pork chop that my son had was what I should have ordered; my lamb ragout pasta not so great. My wife wanted a salad for dinner and asked for the salad to be doubled, but it was still way too small. We have been to Tundra many times, and it is usually quite reliable; I wouldn't hold this experience against them too much. We will be back.
Our waiter was attentive, responsive, and knew the menu intimately. He provided personal, unobtrusive service and ensured that the timing of our meal respected the timeline for the opera - despite the fact that 90% of the other patrons had the same time pressure. He is the best server we have had at Tundra - a gem!
Whenever going to the Opera it seems to be a good place to have dinner
Super place to dine pre Opera when you need to eat quickly.
The pre opera food selection is a great, quick option.
The service was unacceptable. We were having dinner before the opera. No attempt was made to meet our timeline. We waited a long time for the waiter to arrive. We asked several times for the cheque. While the waiter was casually wiping off empty tables, we had to ask another waiter for the cheque. The cheque was wrong. One of the credit car machines did not work.
We eat here often. Had dinner before opera. Both ordered the salmon and I thought it was the best salmon I’d ever had. Smoked chicken salad was delicious too. Kudos to the chef!! Highly recommended.
My wife and I have been going to Tundra for many years now as a pre opera experience, and generally have enjoyed it.
Our last visit two weeks ago did not measure up to our normal level of satisfaction, for me personally.
I ordered the lamb ratatouille; the waiter informed me it was a pasta dish, which is fine with me.
The disappointment was with the amount of lamb apportioned to the dish. I joked with my wife that our cat gets a bigger portion in her tine of Fancy Feast.
Even more disappointing was when the host came to our table and asked how things were--I explained my disappointment and I was abruptly ignored.
Not sure now how intent we will be for Tundra to be our regular pre-opera go-to place.
This was enormously convenient for going to the opera. Service was pleasant and attentive. Food was well served and tasty. My friend had the cod, and me the salmon - excellent. However, this is an expensive restaurant.
As always, Tundra provides prompt service and good food prior to the opera. We ate pork chops which were delicious and perfectly cooked. The room is nice, though not desperately romantic, but the lobby was pleasantly busy with just enough music to add to the ambience rather than drown out conversations.
Tundra features an inventive Canadian cuisine using seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. The service is impeccable, especial important for the pre-opera crowd. A favourite dinner spot-casual yet refined. Good for couples, groups or business meetings.
Excellent food quality. Beans and farm-sourced sausage was amazing, pizza fantastic, avocado toast with eggs and hollandaise sauce. All at a$15 price point. I would do it again.
A pre-theatre favourite for us because of its speedy service, friendly waitstaff, interesting menu, delicious food and great value for the money - can't beat it!
Greeter couldn't find lunch menu.
Greeter couldn't locate my reservation at first
Greeter didn't remember that my friend had given her name and mine so I would know that she had already got the table.
Server insistent we should order, although few in restaurant; we wanted a few minutes
Americano like weak dishwater
Worst part... although very quiet lunch time....another party was seated behind us. They made a lot of noise standing up behind me. One woman hit the back of my head by accident, must have felt it, but continued her animated (drunk?) conversation with the group. I told the server when she returned but she hardly acknowledged what I said. She did nothing. I stood up and confronted the party, saying, very appropriately, that the behaviours of the group were impinging on our lunch. My friend had chosen to Thunder Bay to see me, and needed business advice. This was our opportunity to talk, yet it was ruined.
I am not happy about it. I complained at the time and thought the server would get a manager to deal with it if she wouldn't herself.
I live near the hotel and use Tundra often. This experience was the worst yet.
Our server, Quinn, was great. He was personable and helpful without being intrusive.
Met friend for dinner. Service terrific. Our waitress was probably the best wait staff I have had in a long time. Both the drinks and food were great. Will come again.
The pork chop meal is to die for! Friendly staff, and very relaxing room setting.
Frittata tasted horrible, potatoes oily and not tasty, no proper decaf European latte. Water was not refilled until asked. Atmosphere was calm and pleasant but menu really needs rewamping!
Very slow brunch service if you don’t do the buffet and even the buffet goers didn’t get coffee quickly, surly head guy too.
Have used this restaurant for business lunches on many occasions. This time the service fell short and the carpeted floors were littered with debris including a peach pit.
Had a girls night here recently for Summerlicious and it was great. It is very spacious and quiet as well as wheelchair accessible. The food was good and portions decent. Downsides...parking, regular menu is pricey.
Attended at Tundra for Summerlicious 2019 and the service received was horrible. Ordered steak but was provided no steak knives when asked was given one to share between the two of us and told that they were all out because of an event and that kitchen said butter knife would work. The server couldnt be bothered to refil water or ask whether we wanted more drinks. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! The food was okay although the cold soup should have been noted in menu as was not expecting that.
I’ve had club sandwiches in many restaurants.... this one tops the list! Delicious! And fast- they have a ‘quick’ lunch menu if you’re short on time. Excellent accommodating service, outstanding food, and great location- close to downtown, union station. Definitely recommend!
lounge was noisy and it was difficult to talk to my guest initially. later it was okay.
but it was an unpleasant start to conversation.
An enjoyable place for a quiet dinner with friends. Bar area is relatively noisy but does not affect adjacent dining room.
A great place for pre theatre lunch/brunch. My guests loved it.
No complaints. Great experience and always yummy food. Only thing I think is strange that for a fairly pricey meal we are not given any bread and must pay for it by choosing a basket of bread with olives from the appetizer menu. That is pretty petty I think. Just make the bread a part of the eating experience.
The tables are very close together which means that several people can hear your conversations. Why don’t they sit people a little more sparsely especially when the place is less than half-full. Food and service were very good.
Delicious meal, well presented. Enjoyed the roasted lamb.

This was the worse restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Let’s start with the awful waiter, this guy was extremely rude when he approached the table and it was obvious he didn’t care to be there. I had to ask multiple times for a refill, remind the guy to bring steak knives, and he had no clue about anything on the menu. The food was horrible too, ordered the ribeye steak, it was like chewing on rubber and an extremely thin cut of meat. I have no clue how this place has more than one star, it was absolutely horrible service and food. To give a comparison the chain Texas Road House was about 1000X times better. Save your time and money, and go somewhere else.
From the moment we walked in the service was impeccable. The squash-potato soup was delicious and perfectly smooth. The chicken wrap was excellent, and although it tasted great, the Beyond Burger was soggy from the the pickles and tomato on top of the patty. This was my first time at this restaurant and I would definitely return.

Very comfortable. Unlike some hotel restaurants, this one is not noisy, so the meal can be enjoyed. The food is good and the service is as well. That's a good combination. We'll be back.

Dinner prior to attending Opera. Service designed to coordinate with Opera start time. An excellent special Opera menu, as well as able to order from regular menu. All designed for a most enjoyable pre-Opera dinner! Much appreciated, and very well done!
Went here with family and most of us were disappointed with our food. The burgers were dry, the mac&cheese needed something else, and the curry was too salty. The service was a bit slow as well, despite it not being too busy while we were there.
Very good service and food. Accommodated our schedule change well.
The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Service was attentive even as it got busier. We eat here often as we have an opera subscription and Tundra never disappoints.
