Tun Tavern Restaurant & Brewery - Steaks & Seafood Ratings and Reviews
We had a nice booth in the back corner (2 couples). We had beer sampler (excellent), crab soup (okay), fresh fruit and chicken salad (very good), buffalo chicken salad (okay), cheese steak sandwich (ordered without a roll - very good), and something else I can't remember. Waitress was not very attentive and restaurant was not crowded. Glad I tried it once but would probably not return.
Not thrilled with the place. Brew/Pub atmosphere (expected), but WITH a reservation made over a week in advance for a large group, we were seated next to the kitchen and wait staff congregation area -- other quieter tables existed, but they already had people sitting at them -- and my guess given the atmospher, WITHOUT reservations. And when I asked to be moved, the hostess wasn't happy when I asked to be reseated. Food was overseasoned -- I wouldn't go back.
I have used Open Table on several occassions with great success. I consider myself a foodie and every previous restaurant booked on Open Table has met my palate with delight. I must say that Tun Tavern was one of the worst food experiences I have encountered. The food was inedible, oversalted, unappealing, simply horrible. I would not recomend dining here to anyone. The only good spot was the beer flight, good beer, terrible food.
We felt very rushed with our meals. After we sat down and ordered, the appetizers arrived within five minutes. Then the dinner arrived before we were finished the appetizers. TOo quick!!I would recommend this restaurant for those who like music on the olud side. It would be good for large groups or famileis with young kids who do not want to dawdle. We prefer a more relaxed setting. The service was good adn our waitress was friendly and polite. WE did not have to wait when we arrived which was a plus.
I had special dietary concerns that were considered. The restaurant is not very busy so the waitress should have been more attentitive. But overall she did provide me with the correct dietary request. Parking was complimentary and in Atlantic city this is a rarity.
Great restaurant in Atlantic City. Each time we visit, we like to try a new place to eat. Tun was just as good as many of the casino restaurants we've tried in the past. My fiance had the porterhouse steak which was perfectly prepared and delicious. I had parmesan crusted scallops which were also excellent. The lite ale brew as a great tasting beer. They also have a great summer brew. We would definitely recommend this restaurant!!
We were running late for dinner, so I called to let the staff know and they were very accomodating. We were a small bachelor party group (7) looking to share a nice dinner and engage in group conversation - nothing wild and crazy, just some good bonding time with friends and family. The easy of parking was great, especially given we were running late. We were seated immediately and staff provided prompt service. The musician provided enjoyable background entertainment without being so loud we couldn't converse. Food and beer was good, no complaints. Prices were reasonable and the menu offered a wide array of choices. The overall experience was a good fit for what we were seeking to achieve.
We had a party of seventeen and they sat us at three tables. They assigned only one waitress for the entire group and the poor girl seemed overwhelmed. When one table was finishing another was just getting their food which meant that we were seated at the same time but all finished at different times. Additionally I had requested that ALL checks come to me, one table was given a check and paid on their own without my knowledge. Since this was a thank you to our customers I was rather embarassed that one table paid for themselves without my knowing until after they left, this was quite frankly a corporate disaster!
Excellent experience as we enjoyed great food and outstanding service. We were very pleased to find that our wait person Diana spoke both English and Russian, because my wife also speaks Russian (from Ukraine). A thoroughly wonderful meal in a very nice restaurant made for a great dining experience.
The overall experience at Tun Tavern was good, I ordered to crab cakes which was very good, I wish they served oysters which would have put the icing on the cake. We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel & the restaurant was around the corner, I would recommend the tavern to friends if you are in the area.
Food, service, ambience, all excellent! The only thing I could complain about, is that this restaurant CONSISTENTLY does not mark our reservations as 'seated.' Every time we eat here, I have to save my receipt and FAX it to OpenTable. I dont know why this is, but I have had to do it 4 times now. I highly encourage you to save your receipt if you are dining here, because you will most likely have to do the same thing.
I was less than impressed with this restaurant. We arrived early for our reservation and sat at the bar until it was our time to be seated, the bartender hardly paid any attention to us even though the bar and resaturant were not busy. She also acted as if it was a chore to serve us our drink. The food lacked flavor and the waitress seemed to rush us through dinner. There were also several large parties that were extremely noisy so I would not recommend this place if you want to be able to hear what your dinning partners are talking about.
I don't think I will ever go back. Maybe our server was just in a bad mood (not my problem) most of our food was just so so and the seafood dishes were gross. (kind of unusual for a Saturday night) We went because we know from other people the kitchen is spotless and we had a much greater expectation. Overall not a good experience.
Horrible experience! I don't even know where to start. Went there for restaurant week and made reservation, upon arival they didn't ask if we had a reservation nor did they give us the restaurant week menu or anyone else that came to dine with them. After getting up to get the restaurant week menu ourselves my boyfriend ordered a pesto burger(server never asked the temp and then came back to ask) and he got a bacon cheddar burger instead, I got calamari to start and it was nasty and rubbery, my salad was to have blue cheese on it but came with gorgonzola instead and I was never told, when server took our dessert order he never asked if we wanted coffee and the carrot cake had strawberry sauce drizzled all over it(who does that)!Never again!
Keep in mind that it is a bar... and do not order anything but bar food. Our group made the mistake of ordering from the " Restaurant Week Menu". Bad Choice... expensive and poor quality. Beers are great and plenty of variety. Kelly our server was excellent!
We came in on a Sunday night, not very busy at all, so we cannot complain about service. However, 2 of the 20 oz Cowboy steaks (at $32 each)were ordered, and to our dismay they were found to be very fatty, as were the ribs ordered by another in our party. We were not pleased with the quality of food, for which we spent alot of money.
