Tulio Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at Tulio's. We had reservations but were seated at a table for two in the middle of the dining area. If I had been a little more on the ball I would have rejected the table and waited in the bar for a more user friendly table. The elbow to elbow closeness to the other tables was distracting. Our waiter was weird and dismissive from the start. We obviously were catagorized from the start as not big enough spenders for him to waste time on. He was falling all over the couple beside us. We don't eat or drink that volume. I ordered a fish dish that was not cooked properly. Poor service and we will find another restaurant next time.
As you walk in you see a small, quiet, nice atmosphere. The staff is very polite and knowledgable. It is quite "fancy". I believe I may have been the only man in there wearing jeans, which was not something I would expect. The food was good, though limited selection. It was a bit expensive, something I expected once walking in. Overall I would reccomend this restaurant but make sure to be prepared to dress well, and spend some money.
Tulio has been a favorite of ours for years. A few months ago I posted a difficult review for me to write. Our experience was truly, truly disappointing due exlusively to a poor service experience. It pleases me to be able to post this review from our visit last night. My wife and I were entertaining an out of town guest (a new hire candidate for my company).Simply put, last night was one of the most pleasurable dining experiences of our lives!! Our exceptional dining experiences was directly due to the efforts of our waiter, "Suzy". She demonstrated the most incredible combination of attentiveness, interaction, pleasantness, humor and positive attitude we have ever encountered. Restored our faith in Tulio 100 fold. Thanks Suzy!!
the first time we went everything was amazing. Second time it was fair at best. Things were very very bland. First time out we were amazed by the food. This time it wasn't terrible, it was just a big let down. We got some of the same dishes and everyone left rather disappointed. We will be taking a break from tulio when we visit Seattle next.
I really liked the atmosphere. The service was a bit slow, but we were not in a hurry so that wasn't a big of a deal. However, one of the people in our party had to make a second choice on almost everything. They were out of the beer he ordered, then the main dish which had been recommended to him earlier in the day and finally the dessert. Okay, that can happen, but then my husband's main dish didn't make it upstairs. Did someone really drop it coming up the stairs? Okay those things happen. I was looking forward to the main course, because the first course was so good, but unfortunately the food was dissappointing. All our dinners were bland or were over powered with lemon. I guess if you like lemon give them a try.
Started out 4 of us for dinner, which would have had us sitting downstairs, but then 3 more joined us, so as a party of 7, we had to be upstairs. I've only eaten on the main floor in the past, and love the ambiance, etc. Upstairs was nice, but absolutely not the same at all - - felt like we were put in a boring banquet room. So, I'll need to go back just with my husband, so we can enjoy the real restaurant experience. He had not been before, I've been raving about it for years. He loved his food and we will definitely be back! Next time just the two of us, so we can sit on the main floor.
We showed up early for our reservation and was informed our table was ready for us. The generous cut rib eye was tender and flavorful, prepared to my liking. The risotto was outstanding. My wife loved her chicken and we both agree Tulio exceeded our expectations.
The place is attractive, but somewhat tight, with tables quite close together. Our wait person was excellent. The food, however, was disappointing. My duck breast was served in a watery, tasteless broth & my wife's pasta sauce was similar and equally disappointing.
Tulio never disappoints!!! We love the warm cozy ambiance, especially on a cold, wet, windy night. Gwen, our server, is always a delight. The veal shank and chicken were fabulous. The beet salad was refreshing. Kudos to Chef Pisano and the staff for excellent meals, delivery, and special assistance for those with food allergies. We love to visit this fine establishment. Thank you.
I discovered Tulio's one day for lunch, and my wife and I started coming on a regular basis, including a couple very memorable Christmas Eves. This time, we brought my wife's brother and his wife, who hail from Chicago, and they were blown away. Keep up the good work!!!
Chose Tulio to have dinner with some family from out of town. It was decent experience. Our reservation was for PM. Don't be early, because on Sunday the dining room doesn't even open until PM and we had to wade through a crowd of people to be seated. It wasn't exactly busy that evening and the service was good. We waited a bit longer that I thought was necessary for our main dishes considering we were dining somewhat early and the dining room was hardly full. I had the Pumpkin Malfatti. The brown butter was just a little too much, and it felt a little too greasy. Around the table it was a general okay, with just two of our group of five being pleased with their dinners. For the cost, I simply expected better.
The Food was fantastic!!! The Linguine w Clams was orgasmic.... about 3 Dozen Clams in a Lobster broth that was light and Heavenly. The Risotto with Chanterelle Mushrooms was also great. The Best Cannoli.
The staff was great sans our waitress who fawned over the next table but hardly gave us the time of day.
She wanted us to order according to her schedule not ours and seemed piqued when we didn't. Late with wine at entree, I had to ask another staff member to go to the bar and get it for us, it had been ready for 5++ minutes. Still she gets 3 out of 5 stars, I'm sure the couple at the table next to us gave her 5 stars.
Wonderful Romantic setting. Get a booth! A little bright. Good wine list.
Paired with tickets to a show at the 5th Avenue this is a perfect spot for dinner before the show. They are attentive and quick if you need them to be so you can make your show time. We had the pork shank and duck breast with duck confit leg - both were excellent
