Osteria Tulia Ratings and Reviews
Naples, Florida is famous for its amazing restaurants and I was looking forward to dining at Osteria Tulia on 5th Ave. based on their rating in Trip Advisor (4.5 star). This was a very special night, since our friends were visiting us and this was our first time at this restaurant. They seated us promptly and the ambience was great! I have never been so disappointed with service and food! It was a Friday night and very crowded and it took the waiter a very long time to come to our table. He seemed to be in a very bad mood and was very disappointed when we ordered 2 wines rather than a bottle. Again a long wait until he took our order. Since this was our first time we asked what he would recommend. He recommended the dinner special Black Cod, which my husband ordered. The rest of the table ordered 2 Mediterranean Branzino dishes and Salmon. Again after a long wait we received our meal, the Black Cod was terrible and smelled very fishy. I traded my Mediterranean Branzino for the Black Cod , since I enjoy all types of fish. The Black Cod was totally inedible and we asked the waiter to take it back to the kitchen and replace it with Branzino. He was extremely rude and asked why he should take it back to the kitchen. I explained why it was inedible and he took it away. After everyone was finished with his or her dinner, I finally got mine. The Branzino was very good but not worth the wait. I also was very surprised not to see the manager with all the problems we had but that was probably the waiter’s fault. There are too many great restaurants Naples and we will never come back to Osteria Tulia!
I went to Tulia when my adult children came to town and was delighted by the food and excellent service by Fred our waiter. I had other family members also dining there at the same time and the restaurant made accommodations to seat us next to each other. I recommend Tulia as a place for great food and wonderful atmosphere.
Our Reservation was made 3 weeks ahead through Open Table. Since this is the busy
tourist season we were delighted to get a reservation. The traffic was horrible and we arrived
6 minutes past our 6:45 reservation. The hostess just smiled and told us she had saved
the last outside table just for us. We had a beautiful evening and the best broncini.. ever.
Osteria Tulia is my new favorite place for Italian food in Naples. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, and the food is always delicious. The menu has lots of fantastic favorites, as well as several interesting "gotta try that" type foods. The Tulia bar next door is lots of fun too.
Consistency is critical to any great restaurant. Tulia is so dependable for excellent food and service in a casual friendly atmosphere. The menu varies weekly so as a regular we are never bored by a menu that is one page long. We know every item on that list will be prepared to perfection. This is casual Italian dining at its finest.
Food was good but not exceptional, service was fine, prices were pretty steep, as in most places on 5th Ave South, but not unbearable. There were some nice touches like warm bread and a tasty caponata; altogether a decent Italian restaurant but not a great one. Also, the noise was overwhelming, making it almost impossible to converse. Do not intend to come again.
