Tuckers Tavern Ratings and Reviews
First time at Tucker's since new ownership. I went there with a group of 8 (family and friends). The food was delicious. The menu has something for everyone although my group ordered 4 Crab cake entrees. I had the Flounder Francese which was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Good drink menu with creative cocktails. The decor shows how invested the new owners are. They spent a lot of time decorating the place to give it a upscale shore theme. It was a great experience and we will back for all of those reasons, however the most impressive thing was the staff. Our server made us a feel comfortable and really improved our whole night. We met management and ownership as well and they are all super welcoming and made our night better. Thank you Tucker's!
See you soon
Came for a very disappointing Oktoberfest menu. We were sat in a cold and nearly empty bar room. Pork Schnitzel was dry, beer menu limited, .. overall a disappointing evening.
We've been to Tuckers 6+ times since they've reopened and the quality has sunk tremendously over the past year. With so many other great options we will permanently avoid in the future.
Waitress was excellent, food is just ok. Evening was marred by a very obnoxious family sitting nearby who let their children continue to run around and around the table and in the dining area. I was shocked at their behavior.
We have been to Tuckers before on Chowderfest Weekend. Our Server was preoccupied and not the best. We were seated at 5:15 and the dining room was pretty empty. By the time we left, it was full. She did not ask us for additional drinks - not good when it jacks up the bill. Food was okay but not as good as last year. Lobster bisque was excellent but overpriced for the serving size. Salmon not good. Ravioli special was good but way too rich and not necessary. WE'll try somewhere else next year.
I really needed to rate it as "blank" - we had a 5:30 reservation & just as we parked our car - most of the restaurant lost power including the grill (which is wood-fired?) thru no fault of their own (a navigationally challenged seagull hit the line/transformer) so.... the hostess seated us & our server offered us an opportunity to review the menu. He returned to let us put in a drink order, which would be appropriate I suppose if we were planning to spend the entire evening.
However, since they had no idea when the power would come back on, couldn't enter orders in the electronic system (tho our waiter offered to hand write the order- he was instructed not to take a food order since there was no timeframe to work with re cooking/food readiness) or use a credit/debit machine for payment... we hesitated after asking about all these details - and asked if by chance we could get a free drink as a compensation for the vague chance at dinner. Our waiter inquired but was told he could take our drink order to start but it wouldn't be free. 😑 Last year I had a wonderful experience & was looking forward to repeating it. And while this years eventful visit was not their fault - a little hospitality goes a long way Tucker's - even if it was just a free soda. You never know, we may have stayed and that waiter would've gotten a great tip to start his night for being such a nice guy who tried to accommodate some hungry folks. Hopefully you have a more generous game plan should you ever face this scenario again.
Food was inconsistent. My flounder was good. Accompanying orzo very good. My husband's crab cakes were fair. Waiter was attentive, much much more so to another table who, according to the waiter, had complained about their meal. The diners must have given him a hard time because he stopped by their table constantly: on his way to put in OUR order, on his way to get OUR bread, on his way to get OUR drink refills which he had forgotten when he stopped at THEIR table. He should have let the chef, who also came out and head waiter take care of them.
First time here. Service was good, as was the food. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and he liked it. I had the crab cakes and they weren't the best I have ever had but certainly not the worst. I prefer larger lumps of crab and nothing much in the filling besides a binder, but they were okay and the sweet potato fries were good.
My husband liked the clam chowder although I thought it was way too thick. He said the flavor was very good and he wanted something hot. I had the wedge salad to start and it was very good.
Great location. Waitress was very helpful when I asked her to choose a beer for me because they didn't have the one I wanted. Her recommendation was spot on.
Will definitely return.
The ambiance is amazing. Such a cool place. A little loud. Surprised they sat our family of five in the bar next to a large group at the bar celebrating a birthday who appeared to have been there a while. They were very accommodating when we asked to be moved. Service was okay. Waitress not too attentive. Food was good. Would definitely go again.
We went for a family dinner while on vacation in LBI. The restaurant had live music at the bar and outdoor seating but there was a 40 minute waitlist for the outdoor seating. We had a reservation in advance but I wasn't aware of the outdoor area to make a request. The waiter was friendly and very accommodating. My food was okay, not as good as other places we have tried on the island. Although my family did like their entrees, the crab cakes and the scallops were the best dishes of all. The Tucker's tea cocktail was good, I would recommend it, it was made with deep eddy's vodka, which is delicious!
Dining room looks great, nice furniture, but the space feels cramped with the tables pushed too close to the walls (and each other). A bit more upscale but food & service don't quite meet expectations for prices paid. I felt it was worth the extra $$ to eat and relax in a nicer restaurant that welcomes my kids. If you're looking for value, this isn't the place.
We go to Tucker's Tavern regularly in the off-season for a terrific happy hour. Have been there three times this summer for dinner and found that they are consistently having a hard time getting food to the table while it is still hot. About a month ago, we sent three things back to the kitchen for reheating. Last weekend, with my mother-in-law, we just figured it was a losing battle. N E Clam Chowder was lukewarm, and two orders of Flounder Francaise were cool! Disappointed -- why should a diner have to ask the server to make sure the food is hot? I will stick to happy hour at Tucker's and go elsewhere for dinner. And, honestly, a screaming kid that the servers seemed to think was adorable just wasn't so cute.
Had a great meal at Tuckers recently beginning with a fantastic beet salad followed by delicious bisque. The fish and chips was very good, although a bit greasy. My friend's shrimp scampi was great. Our server, Dillan, was friendly, efficient, and on the ball. He made the experience that much better.
We totally enjoyed our experience at Tucker's Tavern. Our reservation was ready and we were immediately seated. Our server (I wish I could recall her name) was friendly and totally attentive. But, the food was the crown. Absolutely exquisite. We had been on LBI for the entire week and had experienced several restaurants, but Tucker's was far and away the best. We will definitely be returning.
Arrived for 7:30 reservation was told table would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes, waited a half an hour, wait staff was very polite and our waiter was very good, we were there for multiple birthdays and we ordered drinks and dinner and requested bread for the table they gave us 5 rolls for 7 people?? I ordered the special meat dish of the day which was a sirloin steak , the steak was tender but cold when it arrived and the sides were awful,I expect to pay premium prices when I go to beach resort restaurants, but I also expect top quality food, I found Tuckers to be overpriced for the product they supplied, would not recommend .
Reserved via Open Table and put in a special request that the restaurant apparently does not honor (outdoor table). So instead of calling me in advance they waited until I arrived with my guests to disappoint me.
Food is just ok and the service was spotty but very friendly. Nice ambience but the place is huge and seems to cater to large groups.
Overall I give the very refined summary of "meh".
This is our go to restaurant. They were able to accommodate 6 people pretty much last minute. Our waiter was great, service quick and food delicious. Everyone had a good time which is what we wanted on their last evening in LBI. We love Tucker's! You always come through!
