Tub Tim Thai Ratings and Reviews
The service was amazing- we were informed as each dish was brought to the table if it was vegan or gluten free. Plus, I wanted crab Rangoon- no one else did- the waitress (probably the owner) brought me 3 pieces as her treat because she knew I wanted that appetizer - we will be back - food was good too
Sadly, this place is not what it used to be. Service was so slow. The waitress had to look at the menu to confirm what we were ordering. 1 of 4 dinners didnt arrive until much much later than rest; then that Pad Thai wasn't worth the wait. Was it the kitchen or front of the house? Took a long time til 2 of 4 desserts arrived; they explained it took extra time to prep the toddy cake. Almost seemed they didn't know how to prep it. On a Sat night only 3-4 tables were filled.
The Thai food was delicious! There were photos of some dishes in the menu, which was helpful when I was not familiar with it. Service was a little slow. One had to wave the server down. If you are not in a rush, it's a relaxing atmosphere where one can spend time with friends and good food in a clean Thai restaurant.
I had not been to a Thai restaurant for many years and since this one was on open table and walking distance to the Skokie Theatre (where I was headed), I made the reservation.
Interesting menu choices and attentive service: I have no complaints about the place.
The food was extremely fresh and tasty. You can't beat the lunch deal, a choice of appetizer and an entree for $8 and the lunch deal is offered Monday - Saturday. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. Portion size of the entrees was very generous. The restaurant was very quiet and nicely decorated.
The waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the items on the menu. The appetizer and dinners were great. Everything is fresh. This is going to be one of my favorites for Thai food now. We will definitely be going back more regularly. And it's BYOB which is always a plus!
We were pleasantly surprised , the decor was nicer than other people described. The food was excellent and there is a lot of things to experiment with. We have to go back to try the other items. The waitress was very nice and helpful to us. The portions are large and we shared two entres which the waitress said was enough for the two of us. Definitely will return in the near future..!!!
We were in town visiting family and wanted a place to go to near the hotel we were staying at. I looked on Open Table and saw that this restaurant was very close by. We didn't even look at the reviews. We were very happy with our choices as well as the waitress. We had crab fried rice and a beef dish as well as soup and appetizer. We would definitely return if we were in the area.
Stopped in for lunch on a rainy afternoon, and had a wonderful lunch! The lunch specials are a great value, and the quality of the food was excellent and tasted delicious!
Restaurant is a great lunch spot or quick and easy dinner. The decor was a bit quirky, with extension cords, scotch tape, and wires, and a lot of random knick-knack, dust-collecting decor.
Tub Tim Thai is a lovely spot in Downtown Skokie with fantastic flavorful food. We had the chicken satay, sizzling curry salmon, pad see you, & garlic shrimp. The service was excellent and our gluten-free friend was graciously accommodated. The Thai beer also hit the spot. :)
This was a great little spot for very good Thai food! Authentic food, generous portions, and reasonable prices. It's a nice atmosphere but can get a little loud when it gets crowded. The wait staff were very attentive, friendly, and quick! I will return anytime I get the chance!
